Rev ignores Bron’s warning and leaves his office. Rev makes his way to his room, which is now full of stacked books. He reads through the history logs of the palace once more. “Loka an ally that old man had lost his mind,” Rev thinks. Rev continues to read the book on the special arts. “Cast in iron…how did they cast a book in iron?” Rev thinks as he skims through the book. It is soon made clear to him.
“The intricate and complex design of the special arts are to complicated and vast to be put into 1 book. It would take over ten thousand pages to explain one of the special arts. So a device was made by __. The higher art source inscription was used to its fullest extent. To inscribed in a compact, a special art knowledge into a single ring. Who ever puts on the ring and activated the art will be feed all the information that the special art contains. This can be very overwhelming, as it was tested before. To some activity, the ring could lead to harm of once mind.” Rev reads.
“The name was blacked out. It makes sense how they cast it in iron now. It’s not a book, it’s a ring, but how am I do to find it? Wait, it has an art inscribed into it. Maybe it gives off a source. Still, Bron said I was thrown off the Mountain side. If Loka came here to get, it am sure he’s around to looking for it. He won’t be able to spot it as easily I will be able to.” Rev thinks. He has to time to waste. He rushes downstairs and to the dining hall to grab a bite to eat. He finishes his food as fast as he can and ventures out.
“Where are you going?” The guards ask?
“Am…just going out for a run.” Rev says.
“In the blizzard?” They ask.
“It will be good training,” Rev quickly responds.
“Hmm…we’ll I guess you're right. Be safe out there, kid.” The guard says.
Rev immediately runs out and down the steps into the endless blizzard once more. The winds of this blizzard are nothing like the one Loka had made. Having that said, moving through it is no easy task. Rev climbs higher and higher. Boosting himself up as the snow below him would swallow him whole. Rev in time makes it to the peak of the Mountain. “I should back some extra food next time,” Rev thinks to himself. He starts to scan around, but all he sees is a white blanket of snow that covers everything. The blizzard does not reach the peak, but everything below is covered in clouds. Rev spots the source barrier that encapsulates the Palace. He can see it glowing through the clouds. Rev catches his breath now, better understanding how absurd the task at hand really is. “Is Loka really looking for it in this storm?” Rev asks himself. Loka’s source is so great Rev is confident he could easily spot him. It starts the search for the special art begins. Rev dashes through the air, keeping himself above the blizzard. He looks down for any sign of source. Rev keeps at it, but the more he looks, the more lost he becomes. He looks up at the sun above, seeing that it is just about midday. Rev start to make his way back to where he thinks the palace is. On the way back, he makes sure to double check places he might've already looked at. Not that he can tell the difference between any of them, as he is just looking into the cloudy blizzard below. Eventually, as the sun starts to set, Rev spots the palace barrier. He quickly makes his way into the blizzard and heads down the mountain. This proves to be not much easier than going up the mountain in the blizzard. Rev finally finds the entrances to the palace in what is now the dark night.
He makes his way up the stairs.
“You made it back!” The guard says.
Rev catches his breath “told you I’d be fine “Rev responds.
The guard smiles and moves aside for Rev to enter.
“The palace entrance door has still not been replaced, but they are working on it.”
The guard tells Rev.
“I noticed…” Rev says as he makes his way back to the palace.
Every step rev takes feels so heavier than the last. He had used a lot of energy dashing around and quite a bit of source creating stone panels. He makes his way into the place in the now dark night. He makes it up the stairs and to his room. Where he collapses on his bed. He is quick to fall asleep.
-day 2 of the search
“Oh great, another day's counter. How many months is it gonna take him to find that dumb ring?”
“Hahaha…you have no idea. Now stop interrupted.”
The next day Rev is woken up by the morning bell. Rev rolls out of bed and lands on the floor.
“Ow…” Rev grumbles.
He lies on the floor for a while until his stomach alerts him of his hunger. Rev reluctantly gets up and makes his way to the dining hall. He gets in line as he finally starts to wake up. Rev gets his morning bowl. He sits down and eats it at a normal pace for once. Rev isn’t to exited about going back out there again, but he has no choice in his mind. He finishes his food and goes back in line for seconds. He packs the extra food in his bag and beads towards the entrance again. Day after day, week after week. Rev had ventured into the blizzard to look for the ring. Rev could see a thing other than what felt like endless pouring snow. Rev had started to create stone pillars in places he had already searched. It was the only way of telling where he was. When Rev wasn’t looking for the ring, he was gathering more information on it. In particular, the source inscriptions. He learned that you can inscribe pre charged arts. So when someone actives them inscription, it would activate the art. This process would take a lot of sources and a careful hand. It was similar to source coating, but far more advanced. Not anything Rev could do at the moment.
Stolen novel; please report.
-day 30 of the search.
Rev had now wished that he had asked what side of the mountain Paul had thrown the ring off of. But Rev is reluctant to speak to Bron again. Rev was notified that he was no longer in the warrior program, but was welcome to rejoin at any time if he wished. His room would also be kept by him as it had been written by Paul in Rev’s file that he will be given a permanent single room. Rev had read these notification letters and had stacked them by his bed. Never the less Rec heads back out into the blizzard. As Rev covers more ground, it also means he has to venture out further each time. This slows down his progress as time goes by as he will hit a point where he spends more time getting to a new part of the mountain than actually looking at that said new part. This has led Rev to ask for pre-made meals from the Clare. Who he has kept a fairly positive relationship with thus far. This way Rev can go out into the blizzard for multiple days at a time. So far his max has been 3 days. Rev will spend 2/3 of the day searching and will spend the other third in a stone shelter where he keeps himself warm with fire arts. This whole process does consume a large amount of source. After these 3 day excursions Rev we’ll spend a full day or two recover source. This is where Rev studies, particularly in the garden, to passively gain back source. This routine and continue for many months.
-day 127 of the search.
Rev is at the end of another search in the blizzard. He has not seen any sign of Loka or any other living creator, for that matter, in the blizzard. He is still keeping a watchful eye out. Rev has started to try to map out where he has been. It has proven to be more difficult than he could have ever imagined. Rev in this time has learned to be way more source efficient than ever before. Every bit of source used to cast an art out here in the blizzard counts. Along with the psychical energy used to travel around the blizzard. “I feel my eyesight has improved,” Rev thinks to himself. His eyes have learned to adjust to the blizzard environment. Rev takes a look at his map and sighs. From what he knows, he’s only explored less than a third of the mountainside. Rev is also hoping that the iron in casing had not rolled down the mountain too far. It has started to get dark as the sun sets. Rev creates a stone shelter elevated off the ground with stone pillars, but not to much. Rev curls up in a ball and creates a log of wood. One of the new arts he has learned. He uses the log to keep the fire going throughout the night. This way Rev can keep himself more comfortably warm. Rev in time to fall asleep and is woken up by a cold morning wind that enters his shelter from below. Ref gets up and shatters the wall to his shelter, walking out straight into the blizzard. He sees the pillars around him and refers back to his map. Rev sighs as he knows the trip back to the palace will not be a pleasant one. Rev eventually makes it back to the palace.
“Welcome back Rev.” The guard says.
He hands Rev a glossy red apple. Rev grabs it and takes a bite of it.
“Thanks” Rev says.
The guard smile “You're welcome” he responds.
Rev tiredly walks past him, eating his apple as he goes. He makes it to the dining hall and sits down to enjoy his meal. Every bite brings him a little bit of joy. But as with all things, it comes to an end. He gets up, returns his plate, and heads for his room. Once in, he grabs a book and goes down into the garden. Where he reads and studies under the source tree. Rev falls asleep under the tree that night. The cold nights are having less and less effect on Rev as time goes on. Ok, the outside he might seem fine to people passing by. But his body is struggling to contain the wild fire that burns inside him. In time, Rev will reach a point where he can no longer fight back against it. Peace or war Rev had a choice and the decision would change the world in its entirety.
“So what did he choose to make the world the way it is now, peace?”
“What did I say about interrupting a story?”
“Well, nothing is happing he just looking for that stupid ring. Like when will he even find the thing?”
“Kid, show some respect”
“Sorry…”
But for now Rev is nothing more than a kid with a temper. Rev is woken up the next day by the morning bell, which he chooses to ignore and keep sleeping. Rev is woken up soon after by the cheers of the people of the palace.
“He has returned,” they cheer.
Rev gets up from the tree and goes to open the garden door to see what’s happening. When he reaches for the door, it all the sudden opens from the other side. A cyclops dressed in all white walks in. He stops and locks at Rev, then the garden.
“How did…no…one of the twins gods chosen at suck a young age? My name is Casimir, but you can just call me Cass,” Cass says.
“Are you who everyone’s everyone’s cheering for?” Rev sighs “I was taking a nap before came in here.” Rev tells Cass.
Cass laughs. “A nap in the holy garden. I have to admit that does sound nice,” Cass says.
“Well, I’ve claimed my spit under the big tree.” Rev says.
Whispers of the people outside grow out of control.
“What are they talking about?” They say.
“Who else is in there?” They ask.
Rev takes a good look at Cass. His source is plentiful. He then takes a look at the man himself. His large eye is slightly above the center of his face. His wrinkles drag his face down and out. His shoulders are broad and hands appear to be as soft as sand paper.
“My name is Rev. Who are you?” Rev asks.
curious about Cass’s appears.
“I am a one of four great saints or what you might better know me as a visionary.” Cass says.
“Wait…you can talk to the twin gods!?” Rev exclaims
Cass laughs. “Well, we can all talk to the twin gods through prayer. It would be more accurate to say the twins' god can speak directly to me. I am nothing more than their voice in flesh.” Cass explains.
Rev gives a confused look. “So they tell you something and you just tell others what they told you. I mean, how do I know you’re not just lying to me? Or changing parts of what they told you.” Rev glares at Cass.
“I understand your concern, but like with all things involving the twin gods, your faith in at the center of it all. There are of course people that write down what I say is a vision and check to make sure it doesn’t contradict what other visionaries have said. It’s not that hard to weed out a lier when us visionaries are prone to have the same vision around the same time. This lets up check each other.” Cass tells Rev.
“…what if you're all lying?” Rev asks. Still not convinced.
Cass takes a step back. "Like I said before, it’s all comes down to your faith. But be sure to place the majority in the twin gods and not me. Like I said, I am simply their voice,” Cass says. Trying to reassure Rev.
Rev lowers his gaze and walks back to the tree without saying a word to Cass. “What divine purpose have you got planned for that child's twin gods?” Cass thinks to himself.
