Where's My Unique Skill?! [Discontinued]
[48] She's Back, and Str-, Weaker Than...Usual?

[48] She's Back, and Str-, Weaker Than...Usual?

It was an early waking stupor for Anna.

Last evening, Ilgua trained her so hard she immediately fell asleep when she got inside the hut. Her body was still aching all over, the pain from getting her *ss handed to her over and over again(despite being an archer) was something she would never forget.

Unless you’re Archer Emiya, then you’re all set

Even in her state of ‘almost about to sleep again sorry~’, she could hear the peaceful goblins outside working out their morning daily lives. From the nice smell seeping into her hut, they were probably making breakfast.

“Oi~! Wake up!”

“Muuu…”

But even if her stomach was dying to get some nutrition inside, her sleepy self didn’t desire to get up. Even if she was only sleeping on a bed of straw, the cushion it had against the hard ground was nice enough to invite her back to the land of dreams.

“Ooiii!!!”

The girl calling to her began moving her, rocking her back and forth in an effort to try and wake her up. Alas, even she could not enter her sleep with this much disturbance being thrown at her!

“I’m awake already! Stop shaking me already!”

That fleeting moment of anger quickly froze over when she saw who it was who woke her up. That silky long black hair, those beautiful blue eyes, that cheery and confident smile, it was the exact same girl who had saved her.

“Awawawa! M-Miss D-Diana! I-I-I’m so s-sorry!”

“Ehe! It’s fine, chill~. Now, come on, get up. Breakfast’s ready~”

Already feeling guilty at shouting at her in the morning, she silently obliged and left the hut. Outside, as she guessed, the goblins were already finishing up the breakfast for the day. As always, it looked otherworldly to a normal Earthling, but hey! That’s what makes it fun, yeah?

Looking up, it was unclear what time it was. There were still heavy clouds covering up the sky, with the distant occasional strikes of thunder being heard from afar. That aside, the two sat down around the camp fire they lit.

“Here you go Slime Queen.”

“Thank you~!”

Accepting the soup of…whatever it was from the elder, she happily dipped her spoon in and began eating it up-

…Wait. But wasn’t Miss Diana weak to goblin foods? Now she’s just…eating fine. Well, it’s a good thing then! No need to worry or think about it too much!

As usual, the food she was presented with was not of human standards, but once you take a single bite/sip, the taste will surely blow you away. Same goes with this odd soup, while it looked horridly terrifying on the surface, the taste was light and superb!

Thinking about it though, where was the rest? Crystal, Rei, and Ilgua weren’t here to share the breakfast at all. She also tried to ask to Diana and the goblin elder, but Diana simple showed a confused look while the goblin elder replied with a quick ‘I’m not sure’ as he took another sip of the soup.

Well, those three were super strong anyways, so no problems there!

But then, things got…slightly weird.

“Alright~! I’m done! Anna, sir elder, I’ll be leaving for a bit. I’ll be back by lunch, so prepare some for me too, okay?”

“Very well. Good luck, Slime Queen.”

“…As I said, stop calling me ‘Slime Queen’. It feels weird.”

With that last fleeting comment, Diana returned the empty bowl to one of the female goblins and left with a cheery smile, humming and skipping as she left into the forest.

It was…unusual, but it was Diana she was talking about here, and normal common sense doesn’t seem to have any space inside that cranium of hers. But, common sense isn’t something she relies on a lot anyways, so that doesn’t matter.

Anyways, moving away from Anna and jumping to Diana now,

Previously,

While Crystal and her group finally defeat the injured bald man, the sun rising as the battle came to an end, Diana spent countless eternities in the afterlife, before her pleas to return to her beloved friends was heard by the gods.

While she could, she took her chance, and soon enough, she found herself waking up inside on of the goblin huts, alive and uninjured but severely weakened and tired.

Here’s why.

Name: Diana

[Longevity]: ***

{Skills}: [Absolute Slime Transformation: Lv 1/50], [Cooking Lv 2/10]

{Magic}: [Slimy Compendium]

{Titles}: [Slime God]

As you can see, if you compare this to her latest status page(which was like…10 chapters ago?), her stats have dropped considerably. In fact, a lot of her skills and titles went missing. Hell, even her class system was gone now!

But in its stead, she saw some absolutely weird sh*t.

First, what’s up with that [Slime God] title and race man? She knew she took some deal to become the ambassador of slimes, but she didn’t exactly imagine herself becoming a slime god! What’s with this development!?

Second, what’s with that age of 17(maybe), huh? HUH? Look, she did spend a sh*t load of time in afterlife, but her normal self was still 17 yeah? YEAH? This damned system wasn’t calling her old now, was it!?

As a god, its kinda expected that her [Longevity] stat would be out of the roof, but, still. ‘***’, really?

Lastly, where did all her skills and titles go? They’re her life supplies, you can’t just take them away now! That’s utter insanity!

Although its nice to see that [Cooking] was still there. At least her promise with Rei hasn’t been broken just yet!

Now, onto the developments! Yeah~!

[Absolute Slime Transformation]

Lv 1/50

Allows you to morph into a slime.

As a slime, all your stats are boosted by 100%

There are no longer any MP and SP penalties for staying as a slime, or when getting hit.

Density, transparency, and elasticity are all changeable factors.

You are now able to turn only some parts of yourself into a slime, but stats bonus does not apply.

As a slime, any physical damage you receive will be nullified.

You still receive 250% more damage against magical attacks.

“You are the embodiment of all this world’s slimy hope and dreams! Yay~!”

First off, *Inhales deeply*

…It’s still kinda the same as [Slime Valley] and [Slimic Sublimation], just with slight differences that bring this skill up even further than before. The subtext there on the bottom changed too, which was a nice touch!

Moving on!

[Slimy Compendium]

A magical tome of knowledge, lent to you by the gods. With this, you are able to use the skill points you earn to purchase different [Slime] based skills.

It’s pretty much a replacement for her annual ‘Special skills’ list for every time she jumps to a new class. It’s a better system in her opinion, but enough of that. Last!

[Slime God]

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

“You have been granted a seat in the throne of gods. May your journey be well.”

Discards every skill you own, except for [Absolute Slime Transformation] and minor utility skills, and does not allow you to gain any not [Slime] based skills.

In return, you gain [Slime] based skills by practice faster and you level up said skills 100% faster. There is also the chance to gain ‘[Slime] Infused’ skills.

Every time you die, you shall be born anew

And this here, is the sole reason why she’s lost all her other skills. Right here, this damn title. It’s nice and all, but-, ‘does not allow you to gain not [Slime] based skills’. Really!? Oh man, that kinda sucks.

The bonus is also great and all, but what was most frightening, was the last flavour text at the bottom. ‘Every time you die, you shall be born anew’. In hindsight, it doesn’t really mean much. But seeing as she was having a hard time remembering much of her past, this might be troubling.

Her knowledge of games remains unbroken for some reason, but she couldn’t seem to remember how she got into this world, what made her into a slime in the first place, the dryad, that kinda stuff. Most of her early days in this fantastical world was a complete blur, with Diana only being able to recall up to when she first met Crystal.

Pretty much, every time she sees the game over screen, her memories get stolen from her.

(Spoiler) Huh, that’s just like Log Horizon.

‘Ah! Also~, for you readers out there, I’m a [Slime God], but I’m not actually a ‘true’ god, or that’s what the gods said to me anyways. I’m more of a deity, representing a certain race before the gods.

If I was an actual god now, I won’t even be here anymore. And besides~! A god wouldn’t allow a shoujo like me to join their ranks yet!’

…The f*ck?

…Ahem, now that that’s all out of the way…what to do now…?

Obviously, she needed to level herself back up as quickly as she could. With only 5 Strength and 7 Intelligence, she’d get squashed instantly.

There’s also the problem that her catalyst, as in this body that she was inhabiting, was unstable and getting pretty close to disappearing. Due to the extreme situations her body has been put through, getting her soul thrown into that world of whiteness but surviving, and then getting herself slowly eroded by the voices and memories of the fallen, anything major could cause this body to go *Poof!*.

There’s also her ‘God’s sense’. It wasn’t a skill, more like an intuition she had now that she was a god. And when she thought about instantly meeting back with Crystal and Rei, the bells went ringin’.

It’s kinda funny actually. She’s a god now, but she’s so damn weak. She did just come back from the afterlife, so a loss in power was acceptable, but…really? It’s been a while since she last felt this weak.

Anyways, enough thinking. Shaking her head and slapping both her cheeks, she opened her eyes with determination and continued deeper into the forest. Her objective was to kill monsters(somehow) and gather Exp. Easier said than done though.

The first thing she encountered was a monkey, or an ape, not too sure. Its body was almost as big as an adult human, with hands as big as a soccer ball and eyes as wide as an elephant’s. Its tail was also spiky on the end.

Though she was weak in comparison, due to her new godly heritage, the monkey noticed her arrival and made several inaudible noises at her, before charging at her full speed with its hands spread open.

…Of course, she’s a slime. And being a slime negates all physical damage. So…

“Guru!?”

The monkey’s big hands fazed through her partially slime body and popped out through the other side. The monkey up close, the monkey’s ragged and agitated breaths was felt on her skin, and with that, came a wonderful idea and revelation.

This thing was a living being. An ACTUAL living being.

And you know what that means~!

“Hya~!”

Turning her entire left arm into slime, she pinned the confused monkey down and forced down some(a lot) of slime into its throat, nose, ears, and any other holes she could find on its body…including the anus.

“Mmph! Mmphh!!”

The monkey struggled, as the slime reached its ‘heart thingy?’ and grasped it tightly, preventing it from beating. With enough time and effort, the heart stopped beating, blood stopped pumping, oxygen was no longer being distributed, and its brain shut down.

Walla, Un travail bien fait~!

Since she’s fought with a lot of…uh…’living yet not really’ monsters, she kinda forgot that the heart and brain were the two essentials to the life of a normal living being. Which meant that suffocating them to death was definitely an option she could take!

[Enemy has been slain. Gained 195 experience. Gained 7 Skill Points]

It’s a good sum of Exp, but…how much did she need to get to level 1 anyways? The [Slime God] thingy didn’t exactly have an Exp bar next to it, so how the hell was she supposed to-

…Huh? She was reading it wrong? What do you…oh…OH…Wait, what!?

G-G-Gained 2 skill points!? In return from getting her Exp counter stolen from her, every kill grants her skill points to use!? Ah~, what an amazing revelation!...Or, that’s what it seems like at least.

Alright then. [Slimy Compendium], hit her up!

[Slimy Compendium]

*[Randomised Slime Skill Synthesis]*

*[Specified Slime Skill Synthesis]*

*[Random Lore]*

*[Ascension]*

Hoo~ boy! Look at all those weird stuff! Now, being serious for a moment, [Ascension] and [Random Lore] wasn’t all that important…yet. From a quick glance, the [Specified] skill thing was too expensive to use.

Which only left [Random Slime Skill Synthesis].

To put it simply, its like a gacha system where out of a huge set of slime skills, a random one will be selected and given to her. To ‘use’ this gacha, she needed to spend 5 skill points to do so, which is a reasonable price, yeah?

It’s exciting, but also potentially disappointing as well. She could guess one hell of an overpowered skill, but also an absolute trash skill with the same chance. But! Lucky or not, 5 skill points has been used, and time to see what she gets~!

[……]

[Skill Synthesis has been completed. {Slimy Bubble Magic} has been unlocked]

“……Wow.”

How…much coincidence, huh. She just lost her bubble magic, and now it’s back with an additional slime tag on it as well. Description time!

{Slimy Bubble Magic}

Lv 1/10

-Synthesized skill. Progression and evolution unknown-

Allows you to create cute little slime bubbles. Air density, elasticity, speed, shape, size, and effect can be changed by internal and external efforts

As a slime skill, it is extremely weak to magic attacks, so use with caution

Pretty much the same old skill, with a slight downside being that its unable to counter magic attacks anymore, which sucks.

Actually, how was she going to deal with magic attacks now? Since most(if all) of her skills were now slime based, wouldn’t it make battles against an experienced mage one hell of a mind f*ck!? That’ll be terrible!

Well, there might be some sort of magic resistance skill thingy later on, who knows.

Anyways, with this new skill of hers under her belt, she went off deeper into the forest, where more enemies lie to be defeated by the new born slime god that is Diana!

Or…not.

“Woahoaah!! T-That was close!!”

Some might have forgotten this, but back in the very old days, I mentioned something about ‘wraiths’. These types of monsters were ethereal beings, like Crystal. But unlike Crystal, they didn’t have any physical form and can only be damaged by magical means.

As spiritual beings, wraiths are closely related to the world of the afterlife, or the opposite of that, the place we all call ‘hell’. In there, magic is harnessed, and with that, they use their magic to go around and devour any weak and unsuspecting prey.

Which meant that it was the worst enemy Diana could ever have!

*Boom! Boom!*

The current wraith she was fighting was a spherical floating black orb with a red eye staring out from it. Its one and only attack was its laser beam, which shot out of its red eye and burnt away anything in its path. It moved pretty damn slow, but its long range laser fire covered for that.

And since she only had her {Slimy Bubble Magic} as an attack, and since the laser was a thousand times faster than her bubbles…well, you get the gist of it.

That is, if this was the previous old Diana, but nope~! Diana has been reborn, and with that, she has gained a surge of wisdom and knowledge! Even if it isn’t much. At all

Using Crystal’s attacks as an inspiration, she stooped down to avoid another incoming laser and smashed her palm against the dirt, forming a wall of slimy bubbles that wrapped around the wraith.

She quickly increased its air density, the bubbles slowly stretching and expanding, looking like its skin was about to pop. The wraith, seeing this, shot out its laser on a wider range, destroying the bubbles standing in front of it.

Focus on the words ‘in front of it’.

See, in essence, that thing was only an eye attached to a ball, and while it could turn around to destroy the other bubbles, wraiths were slow.

And so, in a fashion similar to Crystal’s [Phantom Iron Maiden], she made all the bubbles rush in and explode at the same time, destroying the spherical wraith in a near instant. *Boom!* it went as its magic diverged and went away.

[Enemy has been slain. Gained 270 Experience. Gained 8 Skill Points]

With that, the second enemy goes down, and her skill points jump up to a perfect 10! Oh! Also, its an untold nifty quirk of the gacha system, but the more she uses it, the more expensive it gets, the damn thing.

Currently, it was sitting at a cost of 10 Skill Points, and she was unsure whether it’ll become 15 or 20 for the next try. Hopefully the former because, my gosh would that be hella expensive.

Anyways, enough of that, time for the second roll!

[……]

[Skill Synthesis has been completed. {[Slime Modelling]} has been unlocked]

“…Uh…What?”

{[Slime Modelling]}

Lv 1/10

-Synthesized skill. Progression and evolution unknown-

Your slime now holds powers of modification, allowing you to change any living being according to your own childish whims. The cost of this skill depends on how big the changes are, but hey, cheer up, the more skilled you are with this, the less the cost.

This skill’s pretty amazing you know~? You could even change stuff down to its basic properties, or DNA for the uninitiated, aka you. Oh right, a DNA is Deox-

Was…Was this skill description…m…making fun of her? Okay~, lookie look here…She may be a NEET with no sense of knowledge crammed into that little cranium of hers, but~

“Hah…”

No good. Getting angry at a skill description was the last thing she wanted to happen. If anything, the gods would be watching from above, laughing their asses off like this was some sort of comedy or something!!

Well, this is a comedy so-

“Shut up.”

Y-Yes ma’am.

A-Anyways-

“Anyways, I have two new skills now. It’s not enough for me to feel really confident, but hell, why not? Besides, I didn’t just go out into the forest to kill monsters and learn some skills. Nope! I’m here because of what happened to that ‘tree of life’ as those gods called it.

But, man…That clone of that some guy sure caused a lot of trouble, huh. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have to gotten dragged into the abyss at all! Then again, I did meet all those amazing memories and return as a deity, so…I guess the debts paid back already~”

S-She…stole my lines…

“Anyways, time to go~! My true objective awaits!
