“Do you find it funny? See If PIL”

Paul reached out and wrapped an arm around her slim waist, pulling her back into his embrace.
Miranda turned and slipped away from his grasp. “Don’t mess around. I still need to go to the balcony to take those pictures for my dad.”
With that, she grabbed her phone and headed to the balcony
Paul followed after her and watched as she took the photos, He thoughtfully turned on all the lights. Then, he turned on the flashlight in his phone to provide additional lighting
Miranda snapped several shots of the two hydrangeas, ensuring every bloom and angle was captured. If she didn’t, Lionel would likely call back for another video
Once satisfied, she sent the photos to him.

Lionel immediately replied with a thumbs–up emoji.
“What are you looking at?” Mindy emerged from the study to find Lionel staring intently at his phone.
“I’m looking at some flowers,” he replied.
“Aren’t your flowers in the garden outside? Did they grow into your phone?”
“They’re not mine. They’re Mimi’s.”
“What flowers? Let me take a look.“Mindy said as she walked over. The two of them looked at the photos together.
Lionel said, “These are the hydrangeas I helped her plant last time. Look how beautifully they’ve bloomed.” The more he looked at them, the more satisfied he felt.

However, Mindy didn’t say a word.
Lionel turned to her and realized that his wife’s expression appeared serious. She was staring at the photos with a
solemn look.
His heart sank. “What’s wrong?”
Mindy pulled the phone from his hands and zoomed in on the photo. This time, the details were even clearer.
“Mindy?” Lionel was confused.
She narrowed her eyes and pointed to the bottom left corner of the photo. “Look here. Do you see two shadows?”
“Huh? What shadows?”
“It’s another person’s shadow.”
At this hour, why would there be a second shadow in Miranda’s home apart from herself?
Lionel finally realized what was happening. His expression turned serious as well. He scrutinized the photo closely. “There really are two shadows. I’m calling Mimi right now!”

Mindy stopped him in time. “Wait à minute, don’t rush int It.”
“How can I not be anxious? It’s already this late at night. Who knows who that extra person in her house will be? What if… what if it’s a dangerous man…” Lionel trailed off
“It shouldn’t be. You were on a video call with her for so long; just now. Mimi is smart enough to figure out a way to ask for help if it was someone dangerous. Did you notice anything unusual during your conversation earlier? For example, any hints in her words or strange behavior?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Then, it must be someone she knows.”
Lionel let out a sigh of relief, but he still couldn’t be fully at ease. “But who would be at her house this late at night?”
They were even standing so close!
The shadows were right next to each other and practically overlapping!
“Could it be a man?”
The thought of that possibility sent a chill down Lionel’s spine. He couldn’t sit still any longer and got up to call Miranda so that he could get to the bottom of it.
“Don’t be so anxious. Look here. If you called her now, then what? Are you going to outright ask your daughter if she is hiding a man at her house?” Mindy asked.
Lionel said, “Then what should I do?”
She thought for a moment. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. It must be someone close to her if they are still at her house at this hour. Mimi doesn’t know many people in Jandersvilla. Other than her lab mates, there’s only…”
“Winter!” Lionel slapped his thigh. “I almost forgot about her!”
“Right, we can call Winter first and subtly ask if she’s at Mimi’s place.”
“You’re so brilliant! This roundabout strategy of yours is genius!” With that, he prepared to call winter.
But then, Lionel scratched his head awkwardly. “I don’t think I have Winter’s number.”
“I’ll call her,” Mindy said.
Less than a minute later, the call was answered
Mindy.”
“Winter? It’s me, Mindy.”
“Mrs Sutton! Good evening, do you need something?”
Mindy asked, “I saw the weather forecast saying there will be a heavy storm tonight in your area. I can’t reach Miranda’s phone for some reason. Could you tell her to make sure the balcony doors are closed?”
Winter froze for a moment. Then, her brain jumped into overtime, and her heart began pounding. She had never felt so sharp–witted before
Why would Mindy ask her to pass on the message if Miranda’s phone wasn’t reachable? Could her phone reach Miranda? Her phone wasn’t some magical device.

Furthermore, Mindy asked her to tell Miranda instead of calling her, which meant…
Mindy assumed that she was at Miranda’s house and could talk with her face–to–face. But she actually wasn’t. Why would she assume that, then?
Either Miranda told her so, or Mindy had guessed. She wouldn’t have jumped to that conclusion at random. Mindy must have noticed something that made her think Winter was at Miranda’s house right now.
At any rate, there was a problem in either case.
A huge problem! noveldrama
These thoughts flashed through Winter’s mind in an instant, but she didn’t miss a beat in her response. “I got it,
Mrs. Sutton. I’ll check with Mimi if her phone is out of battery. I’ll close the balcony doors right away, don’t worry.
Η
“Alright, thank you. I won’t disturb your rest. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Mrs. Sutton.”
After ending the call, Mindy and Lionel let out a sigh of relief.
“So it’s Winter. I actually thought.”
Mindy glared at him. “What did you imagine?”
Lionel cleared his throat. “Nothing much… It’s time to sleep. Let’s go upstairs…”
“It’s fine if you want to go upstairs, but why are you putting your arm around my waist?” Mindy demanded.
“My darling wife.”
The beautiful moonlight shone in the midst of the dark night.
