Selene pored over the ancient texts in her tent, her fingers tracing the faded ink of a prophecy that seemed to breathe with its own energy. The words spoke of a "Child of the Pact," one born under a convergence of light and shadow, destined to restore balance at an

unimaginable cost.

"It's her," Selene said, the revelation heavy in her voice. She turned to face Cassian, who stood rigid near the entrance.

Cassian's jaw tightened, his hands curling into fists. "A prophecy doesn't dictate her life," he said fiercely. "We'll protect her-whatever it takes."

Selene's gaze softened. "The choice may not be hers-or ours. The Pact has its own will, and we're bound to it as much as she is."noveldrama

Cassian stepped outside, the weight of Selene's words pressing on him as he watched the pack prepare for the inevitable. The warriors sharpened weapons and fortified defenses, their movements shadowed by an unspoken tension. Aurora joined him, her expression mirroring his turmoil. "I know what you're thinking," she said softly.

He looked at her, his shoulders heavy with the burden of leadership and fatherhood. "I'm thinking I can't lose either of you," he admitted.

Aurora touched his arm, drawing strength from his presence. "We won't let a prophecy control our lives. We make our own choices."

Their moment was interrupted by a low growl echoing through the clearing. Aurora turned sharply, her eyes catching a lone shadow wolf at the edge of the forest. Its yellow eyes glinted with malice, its form unnaturally still. Cassian reached for his blade, but before he could act, the wolf dissolved into the darkness, leaving no trace behind.

Aurora's chest tightened. "They're watching us," she said, her voice steady but tense.

Cassian nodded, his resolve hardening. "Then let them. They'll see exactly what we're capable of."
