Their moment was interrupted by a low growl echoing through the clearing. Aurora turned sharply, her eyes catching a lone shadow wolf at the edge of the forest. Its yellow eyes glinted with malice, its form unnaturally still. Cassian reached for his blade, but before he could act, the wolf dissolved into the darkness, leaving no trace behind.

Aurora's chest tightened. "They're watching us," she said, her voice steady but tense.
