The fortress loomed like a wound in the landscape, its jagged spires cutting into the darkened sky. The air was thick with malice, and Elyra felt its oppressive weight settle over her as the carriage came to a stop.
They were dragged into the throne room, where the Lycan King sat upon a darkened dais, his presence as commanding as it was terrifying. His form was tall and lean, but his shadow seemed to stretch far beyond his body, enveloping the room.
Xytriana stepped forward, her voice reverent but smug. "My king, the Luna and her... companion." She gestured to Jason, who stood silently beside her, his red eyes glowing with unrestrained fury.
The Lycan King's gaze landed on Elyra, his dark eyes glittering with amusement. "So," he drawled, his voice smooth and cold, "this is the little Luna who has caused so much trouble. You're smaller than I imagined."
Elyra's silver hair shimmered faintly in defiance, and she raised her chin. "You'll never win."
The Lycan King smirked, rising from his throne and descending the steps with predatory grace. "Oh, child," he said, his voice carrying a mocking lilt, "you think this is about winning?" He leaned closer, his shadowy presence suffocating. "I already have what I need." Elyra's heart sank as his words hung in the air. She glanced at Dain, who was restrained nearby, his orange eyes blazing with unspoken fury.
"Separate them," the Lycan King commanded with a flick of his hand.
"No!" Elyra shouted, struggling against her bonds as the guards dragged Dain toward another corridor.noveldrama
Dain's roar echoed through the fortress. "Elyra! I'll find you!"
The Lycan King watched with cruel amusement, his smile widening as Elyra's struggles became futile. "Let's see how strong your bond truly is," he murmured.
