Chapter 398

Miranda suggested, “We’ll have to apply for a lab, just the three of us.”

Madison and Sebastian were shocked. How could Miranda be so bold?

“Wouldn’t Dr. Young mind?”

Miranda laughed. “You’re thinking too little of the old lady. The suggestion came from her in the place.”

They immediately took action. Sebastian submitted the application for a lab through the administration system that day. The system showed that their request was submitted and a reply would be given in three days.

However, the result they received three days later was.

Application denied.

The reason was that all the labs were fully occupied.

Miranda found this odd. “I passed by that lab yesterday and it was still locked up as usual. No research group is using it.” All content is property © .

Madison was crunching away at her chips. After hearing this, she quipped thoughtfully, “Do you think the dean’s office might be obstructing us on purpose?”

Sebastian remained silent and didn’t respond. However, he immediately went to the dean’s office after class.

“I’ve checked and the lab is not in use. Why did the system show that the labs are all occupied?”

The admin staff turned the screen toward Sebastian and pointed out to him. “Look here, it’s marked as unavailable. I believe this lab was assigned just recently. Hold on, I’ll check it for you.”

Soon, he found the information. “Here it is! It was approved for use three days ago. The applicant is Joli Clifford, also from the Faculty of Bioinformatics. You must know him, right?”

Sebastian frowned deeply.

Joli already had his own lab, with special funding and resources. There was no logical reason for him to apply for another lab.

“I see rooms C112 and B174 are still vacant. Why not pick one of those instead?” the staff suggested.

Sebastian didn’t agree. Their experiment required the use of the CPRT measurement device, of which the faculty only had two. One was monopolized by Sophie’s research team since long ago, and the other was located in the very lab they applied for.

“So that means this is the only lab we can use, but now Joli has taken it?” Madison’s eyes widened considerably, almost forgetting to take a bite from the crepe she held in her hand.

She continued, “They are clearly mistreating us! No, we have to tell Dr. Young about this!”

Madison put down her crepe and was about to rush out when Miranda grabbed hold of her. Sebastian also spoke up. “Calm down and don’t be reckless. Dr. Young went to the hospital”

Stunned, Madison stopped in her tracks. She only learned about Christine’s poor health after starting the

semester.

Christine rarely went anywhere without a thermos of herbal medicine. The moment the lid of her thermos was opened, a strong medicinal smell would fill the air.

Madison could barely stand the scent, and yet Christine had to drink the medicine every day. Just th thought of it made Madison shudder….

“So what do we do now?” Madison calmed down and looked up at Sebastian, then at Miranda.

“The dean’s office runs everything according to the administration system. Since Joli applied before us, it makes sense that they approved the lab for him,” Sebastian said. That meant there was no way to appeal through official channels.

The only option left was….

Miranda Suggested, “Let’s talk to Joli in private.”

Sebastian nodded in agreement.

“Joli, someone’s here to see you!”

“Alright, I’m coming.” Joli put down the equipment in his hand and removed his disposable gloves before stepping out of the lab.

Miranda, Sebastian, and Madison stood waiting for him in the hallway.

Joli was surprised. He knew they were the new postgraduate students under Christine this year, but he couldn’t match their names to their faces.

Joli asked, “Do you need something from me?”

“Joll, does all your research take place in this lab?” Sebastian was the first to speak.

“Yes, I use this lab for the most part, unless I need to use special equipment elsewhere,” he answered.
