Samson’s eyes darted around. “Noah, is this for real? Would someone powerful like him really fancy Madison?” he whispered.
Francis‘ expression turned dark. “Could he be a fraud? Did Mason hire him to fool us? ” he thought.
As for Noah, his eyebrows were furrowed tightly as he scrutinized Sebastian from head to toe. His looks and demeanor were impeccable, and he spoke fluently without an accent. In addition, Sebastian exuded a distinguished air with his calm and measured words.
It would be difficult for Mason to find an actor who could pull off such extraordinary acting on short notice.
Noah’s heart sank slightly before he plastered on a smile. “You said that your last name is… Landon?”
“Yes, I am. Is there a problem?” Sebastian asked.
“Back then, I used to travel to Jandersville frequently. I know quite a few people there. Who’s your father?”
Sebastian smiled and said his name.
Noah was initially shocked, then he chuckled. “Young man, lying will get you nowhere. I might have believed you if you mentioned some other name. After all, I don’t know all the Landons in Jandersville’s political circle.
“But you just had to pick the highest–ranking one to boast about. Don’t you think that’s not too clever of you?”
Sebastian smirked. “Have you considered why I didn’t just pick a random name? I still said it even though I knew you would suspect me of boasting. Do you not consider me telling the truth?” he replied in a calm and nonchalant manner.
Noah’s expression shifted from disbelief to skepticism when he heard Sebastian’s words. He didn’t know whether to believe or doubt Sebastian.
However, this stalemate didn’t last long–it was time for the doctor’s ward rounds.
An elderly man, Wade Joneston, led a group of doctors in white coats and bustled into the ward. The group surrounded the bed to examine Mason’s condition.
Wade adjusted his glasses and approached Sebastian with a smile. “Mr. Landon, I’m
the director of Harrington Hospital, Dr. Joneston. Mr. Cameron, the commissioner, had personally called me earlier. He instructed us to spare no effort in treating Mr. Hill.
“I’ve already called several experts from the neurology department to convene this afternoon and conduct a consultation for Mr Hill. They will be able to finalize an optimal treatment plan by tonight!”
Sebastian nodded slightly. “Thank you for your help, Dr. Joneston.”
“No need to mention it. We will do our best, especially if the orders come from Mr. Cameron personally!” Wade replied.
Mason’s cousins were visibly disheartened after Wade and his team left. The smiles disappeared from their pale faces, and they were cowering with fear.
Sebastian turned to Noah, who clearly held the most sway among the group. still have any doubts now?”
“Do you
“No, of course not! There’s no doubt about that… We were just worried that Madison might be deceived. As her uncles, we had to ask a few more questions to feel reassured. Mr. Landon, please don’t take our poor manners to heart,” he stammered.
Samson’s voice was dripping with sarcasm. “Mason really has good fortune. His daughter is so lucky to find such a capable fiancé,” he spat out angrily, emphasizing the word “fiancé.”
“Well then, we won’t disturb you any further. Mason, take care and get well.”
With that, Noah led his two brothers out of the room.
Madison went to close the door. She let out a long sigh of relief after confirming they were really gone.
Seconds later, she threw herself into Sebastian’s arms. “Ah! Sebastian, you’re so amazing! You actually managed to get rid of them just like that! How was my acting just now?”
Sebastian replied, “You were excellent.” noveldrama
At that moment, a weak voice spoke up, “Wait… You two even spent money and hired actors to pretend to be doctors and the hospital director?”
Audrey’s confused gaze shifted between the two, her face filled with disbelief.
Meanwhile, Mason was lying on the hospital bed. Although he couldn’t move, there was a hint of scrutiny in his eyes as he sized Sebastian up.
