The group emerged into a clearing unlike anything they had ever seen. At the center lay a crystalline lake, its surface glowing with an otherworldly light. The water seemed to ripple in time with an unseen pulse, radiating life and power. Aurora's breath hitched as she stepped closer. The Pact's energy surged within her, resonating with the lake as though recognizing her presence.

"This is it," Anica whispered, their voice filled with awe. "The heart of the Pact."

As Aurora approached the water's edge, tendrils of glowing liquid rose from the lake, reaching toward her like sentient beings. She extended her hand, the energy wrapping around her fingers with a warmth that was both soothing and overwhelming. Cassian stayed close, his eyes darting around the clearing. "We're not alone."

The air shifted as Selene stepped out of the shadows, her expression grim. "You made it," she said, her voice devoid of its usual sharpness.

"Why are you here?" Cassian demanded, his blade at the ready.

Selene ignored him, her gaze locked on Aurora. "The Pact is alive. It's aware. And it knows what must be done."

"What are you talking about?" Aurora asked, her voice steady despite the unease curling in her chest.

Selene gestured to the lake. "To sever the Lycan King's corruption, the Pact requires a sacrifice. Something connected to it."

Aurora's heart sank as realization dawned. "You mean me."

"Or the child," Selene said bluntly.noveldrama

Cassian snarled, stepping in front of Aurora. "That's not happening."

Before anyone could respond, the clearing darkened. Across the lake, the Lycan King emerged, his towering form silhouetted against the glowing water. Shadow beasts flanked him, their eyes gleaming with malevolent intent.

His voice carried across the clearing, low and resonant. "You've come so far, only to lose everything. The Pact will be mine."
