The march toward the Lycan King's fortress was grueling, the terrain growing more hostile with every step. Shadow beasts lurked in the dense fog, attacking in small, relentless waves that tested the packs' endurance. "Keep moving!" Cassian bellowed, his blade cleaving through the neck of a beast. "They're trying to wear us down."
Aurora struggled to maintain her pace, the Pact's energy fluctuating within her. Each attack left her more drained, but she pressed on, drawing strength from the resolve of those around her.
Selene rode beside her, her expression grim. "The Lycan King has a final weapon. A construct formed from the Heart's corrupted energy. It will be unlike anything we've faced."
Aurora's jaw tightened. "Then we destroy it before it destroys us."
As they neared the fortress, the storm began. Jagged bolts of black lightning tore through the sky, striking the ground with violent precision. The air itself seemed alive with malice, the storm an extension of the Lycan King's will.
The packs gathered at the edge of a cliff overlooking the fortress, its jagged towers piercing the sky. Shadowy tendrils snaked out from the storm, their movements unnatural and foreboding.
"It's worse than I imagined," Anica murmured, her usually calm demeanor faltering.
Aurora turned to the gathered wolves, her voice cutting through the storm's roar. "This is where we stand. This is where we fight. If we falter now, there's no going back."
Cassian gripped her hand, his eyes burning with determination. "We won't falter."
The combined forces let out a rallying howl, their voices a defiant beacon against the encroaching darkness. Aurora stepped forward, leading the charge toward the fortress as the storm intensified, its fury a prelude to the battle ahead.
