Chapter 164

Aurora watched her daughter toddle across the clearing, her tiny hands reaching toward a butterfly that glowed faintly with celestial light. The child's laughter rang out, lifting the spirits of the pack as they paused in their work to marvel at her. "She's special," Selene said, standing beside Aurora. "But her connection to the Pact is... unpredictable. We must understand it before it becomes a danger."

Aurora sighed, brushing a strand of silver hair from her face. "She's just a child," she said. "I won't let the Pact define her life the way it's tried to define mine."

Cassian joined them, carrying a bundle of ancient scrolls. "We found something," he said, spreading the scrolls on a flat rock. "These match the symbols you saw in your vision. They speak of a fractured past-of guardians who failed the Pact before us." Selene leaned in, her sharp eyes scanning the markings. "If these visions are tied to the Lycan King's power, they could also reveal how he intends to return."noveldrama

Aurora crouched down, tracing the symbols with her fingers. "It's not just about him," she said, her voice tinged with unease. "There's something older... something deeper. The visions felt like warnings, but also like... memories."

Cassian's hand rested on her shoulder. "We'll figure it out," he said. "Whatever's coming, we'll face it together."

As night fell, Aurora settled near the fire, her daughter asleep in her arms. The stars above seemed to shimmer with an unusual intensity, and a sudden, vivid vision overtook her.

In it, the Lycan King stood atop a barren cliff, his shadow stretching impossibly long. Behind him, an ancient city rose from the ground, its spires glowing with corrupted energy. His voice echoed, low and menacing: "I am never truly gone."

Aurora gasped, her eyes snapping open. The firelight flickered, casting ominous shadows around the clearing. She looked down at her daughter, her heart pounding with the weight of what she had seen.

The Lycan King's presence was still out there, and the future was far from secure.
