The camp was alive with chaos as the Lycan King's forces descended. The shadow beasts breached the outer defenses in a relentless wave, their glowing red eyes cutting through the smoky darkness. Screams and snarls filled the air as wolves fought to hold the line,
their unity tested to its limit.
Cassian stood at the forefront of the battle, his golden eyes blazing as he commanded the warriors. His blade gleamed in the firelight, cutting through shadowy forms with brutal efficiency. "Hold your positions!" he bellowed, his voice cutting through the cacophony. "Do not let them through!"
Within the camp, Aurora and Erya worked quickly at the center of a hastily constructed ritual circle. The Lunar Key floated between them, its silver light pulsating as the Pact's energy gathered around it. Erya's deep voice recited an incantation in the ancient tongue of the moon wolves, while Aurora, pale and trembling, concentrated on the energy coursing through her. "Aurora, you must focus," Erya urged, his silver eyes sharp as he steadied her.
"I'm trying," Aurora whispered, sweat beading on her forehead. She felt her child stir within her, the connection to the Pact thrumming with an intensity that threatened to overwhelm her.
At the perimeter, Cassian ducked a swipe from a shadow beast's massive claws, countering with a vicious upward slash that dissolved the creature into mist. Nathan fought beside him, his strikes precise but desperate.
"They're pushing harder!" Nathan shouted, his voice strained.
"They know what's at stake," Cassian replied grimly, his gaze flicking toward the center of the camp.
The ritual reached its peak as a brilliant surge of energy exploded outward from the circle. The shockwave drove back the shadow beasts, their shrieks of pain cutting through the night as they dissolved into darkness. For a brief, fleeting moment, the battlefield was silent.
But the reprieve was short-lived. From the shadows emerged a figure cloaked in power and malice the Lycan King. His towering form exuded an aura of dread, his glowing green eyes locking onto Aurora.
Cassian's heart sank as he turned to face this new threat. "Protect her," he growled to the warriors, positioning himself between Aurora and the advancing enemy.
Aurora struggled to remain upright, her body trembling from the effort of the ritual. As the Lycan King stepped closer, his voice carried across the battlefield, resonant and cruel.noveldrama
"You've fought bravely," he mocked, his smirk twisting his features. "But it's too late. The Pact's fate is sealed, and so is yours."
His gaze fixed on Aurora, and her breath hitched, the weight of his words pressing down on her like a vice.
