Raven was with his four grandchildren, singing them an old lullaby that had the four of them sleeping peacefully. Being a grandfather. How is he going to justify it to his siblings? He was going to worry about that later. Stepping out to see the banquet being held. The other vampires and slaves that had been freed were settling in. Syli was with Aurae, smiling as they were enjoying the banquet. The Besters were cooking up a storm since out of everyone they could cook. From curries to breaded fish fillets, fries and the like.
Melgis and Wiseman were enjoying their ale. Levi was just enjoying his meal with the Claws. Songs were sang by bards of all the races, people dancing with one another. Cheering for their rescue and the like but Raven? He was just watching things from the shadows as magic had returned to his body. Fading in to the shadows.
Raven received a notification as he walked to the tree.
Gained Access to a Special Shop.
The Slime Merchant.
Raven's eyes widened. That was a merchant known for many things. The Slime Merchant, among the many merchants Raven had met, he was someone who is rare. Many merchants exist. They sell things in the system but the Slime Merchant? Known for one thing and one thing only. Uniqueness. Every item was unique. It wasn't unique in the sense that it was named. It was unique because everything is tailored to the person who uses it. He has everything but to get it? That's a difficult one to grasp. He never met the Slime Merchant. So this was going to be an interesting situation.
From laser rifles to bows, plasma blades to iron knives. Some of his weapons came from a merchant who got it from the Slime Merchant. The price was a bitch though. Raven had to pay 5 times the price. If he was directly facing the merchant, that'd be interesting. But what of currency? What will be needed?
The Slime Merchant will take any items you don't use.
Your name as War God has its merits.
You will use special currency.
The Destiny Coins.
You start with 50,000 DC.
Destiny Coins are earned from Causality and Dungeons.
You can barter your goods to the Slime Merchant.
Going out to an open pasture where he checked his pocket for a coin with a shield engraved in it. Pressing it, where a portal of blue opened up. Hearing a chuckle.
"I'd like to see my new customer. So come on in!" Stepping in to find a gigantic warehouse with a slime wearing an old soldier's helmet. Seeing a few constructs moving about, from golems powered by mana to actual machines powered by electricity. Items as far as the eye could see, categorized in different compartments and shelves. Everywhere he glanced, it was just a long stretch of wares. Raven could find anything in here.
"So what can I do for you? It's not everyday I get a customer that can just use my coin."
"The Slime Merchant." The slime chuckled, a grin on the face. Despite the cute appearance, the Slime Merchant had readied his wares for sale.
"What caught your eye, customer?" That was a question posed to Raven as the Slime Merchant's constructs brought forth boxes of materials. A large blade that was taller than Raven with a handle that was the size of a knife. A set of ingredients for chefs. Skill books for different classes. Ranging from beginner spells, swordsmanship, aura to advanced techniques and martial arts. A 100 sided dice that would determine critical chance. If at 100 it is 100%. Shotguns, sniper rifles, great bows, long bows to short bows.
"Quite the haul, Merchant."
"Of course, I need to have the best items to suit the person in front of me." Then Raven eyed something. 'Abyss Gaze Weapon Set Upgrade - 100,000,000'.
"The Abyss Gaze Set Upgrade allows you to use mana and aura. Something I'm sure you're familiar with. Of course, there's plenty of ways to earn the Destiny Coins. Do you have plenty of items to sell?" Raven glanced at the items he had gained from the gacha. He had... Quite a lot of them.
"Those will do just fine. Depending on the rarity, it can fetch a fair price." Raven presented it to the Slime. A singular glance and the items appeared to the Slime Merchant's side. That was something Raven had never encountered before.
"50,000 with all of the items here."
"70,000."
"60,000."
"55,000."
"50,000." Raven was cornered right back to the start, the Slime Merchant was a difficult one to barter with. He did it again, another 10 maybe 20 or was it a few thousand times? The Slime Merchant was patient, still going at it to get Raven to be stuck back at the initial price. No matter how he steered the conversation. The Slime Merchant was firm. Whatever path Raven took, it would lead him back to the Slime Merchant's price.
"Fine. I'll give." With that, 50,000 Destiny Coins were transferred to his phone. A glance at a few more items as Raven found something that caught his eye. A coat for 10,000 coins. Clad in burgundy with beautiful floral patterns. An impulsion to touch it, an impulsion to wear it had taken a hold on Raven's mind.
"What's this coat?"
"The Burning Moon's Coat. Freshly tailored with materials from a faraway land. A never-ending flame that swallowed it. Life evolved to be fireproof but never close enough to stand the flame itself. It's fireproof and light. Resilient against being torn apart. Though if you do end up damaging it, it'll cost you 2,000 coins to get it repaired."
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"I'll take it."
"Care for some guns? I would recommend this." Raven was given a heavy single shot pistol. It had a circular rear end sight, a break open action. Trigger was heavy. Raven could feel the effort to just pull it. Maybe a 10 to 20 kilo trigger. The wood that formed the grip was made up of something unique. Familiar in a way.
"The wood is from another World Tree. It's good enough to smack someone to death with it. It's a heavy gun but it can pierce through barriers and tanks. That's going to be 25,000 with 500 rounds of ammunition. I can give more ammunition where ever you are. I'll throw in a sleeve that holds 20 bullets for you. Caliber wise, it's at 17mm by your world's standards." Raven broke the action open as the shelves of the warehouse vanished, revealing a special white space that had different targets.
"The danger room. Aside from the name, it's meant to be used as a means to test your equipment here." Raven took a sleeve of 20 bullets, placing one into the chamber. Finger on the trigger as he got comfortable. Pulling the trigger, feeling the recoil throw his hands upward. His fingers took the brunt of the exhausted flames. Though he could see his target had a small hole in the entry, but a gaping one outside. This wasn't a weapon Raven could use on humans. It was too inefficient. The recoil was far too strong. Even if he used any of his other Personas, this was a hurdle.
"It's not meant for shooting at flesh. It's meant to hunt big game. Tanks. Dragons. Even beasts that swallowed worlds... Suits what you plan to do, don't you think?"
"Yeah, I can't use this on humans. Most of my weapons aren't anti-tank. I'll take it. But ammo..."
"Of course, you gain access to my shop on your phone through the app. So there's no need to worry." Raven glanced to his phone that had a slime icon, it was the Slime Merchant's exclusive shop for consumables. Sticky Solutions 'For All Your Adventuring Needs!'
"You cover all your bases..."
"Of course, I get to choose my customers. If you want a weapon to use in case you don't have one for tanks... Why not go with metal cutters?" He was handed a pair of massive metal cutters, it was smaller compared to Specter's shears but testing it out? The sharpened tip would pierce right through, then opening it wide to create a hole. Just enough for a basic pistol to fire into the tank crew or a grenade to do the job.
"How much is this?"
"That would be another 25,000." He paid for it. Then the warehouse returned, where Raven could see more items being brought to his attention. The last one? It was a special crossbow. One that was similar to Wiseman's but it's build? It was suitable for him, the limbs were sharpened finely with the black metal shimmering in glory.
"Special wood from another place. Nothing but pitch black. It'll cost you 40,000. It fires javelins. A mini ballista. Shouldn't be too heavy for your hands." The Slime Merchant was right, it was light. Even lighter than any crossbow he used. It's size was deceptive. He thought it would weigh as much as the single shot pistol from earlier.
"That'll be one Burning Moon Coat, One Starbringer, One Carver and One Zenta Crossbow. Total is 100,000 Destiny Coins. You can use these weapons without a Persona."
"How did..."
"I have access to your system in a way. It helps me tailor my goods to my customers. When you come back, I'll have more ready. Until then, War God." The constructs snapped their fingers and Raven was expelled from the shop, finding himself in a river. But it gave him an idea. The books that the Slime Merchant had? Some of them were related to his students back at the academy. They can pull through and get better. They can be S-Ranks faster if they mastered those skills. The Slime Merchant opened up a lot of doors, a lot of possibilities for Raven.
Getting up from the pond, finding the weapons in his hand, now placed into the dimensional storage, but the sleeve for Starbringer, the single shot pistol? Strapped to his right forearm. Putting on the Burning Moon Coat which Raven found something in his pockets. A note and a pair of gloves.
'The Burning Moon Gloves. Same properties as the Burning Moon Coat but this one focuses on using fire. Call it a freebie, hope to see more of your items soon.' Hook. Line. Sinker. Raven was already caught in the Merchant's hand. He'd been dancing to the Merchant's tune. But the time for that had passed, Raven headed back to his room. Planning to sleep as he had more tools for the next day. But he did receive news on his phone from Lowell.
Detailing what the Seven Hells members had done, sudden attacks on the Black Wing members and his allies. One keynote 'Ivona got attacked. Astravion extracted all the information.' That means he needed to ramp up his work. He can't dawdle anymore. Giving Lowell the okay to eliminate the targets. The Seven Hells was going to be killed.
Meanwhile, Rodin and Aisha were making their way to the Hunter's Academy. Stepping straight into the magic class where Jasmine from Seven Hells was present. Teaching her class.
"Why are you two here? You can't be in h-" Before she could speak, Rodin smashed her head to the wall. Aisha borrowed Rodin's kopis as the pair slashed the limbs off Jasmine. Then Rodin tore off her voice box with Aisha gouging her eyes out. Pouring a potion to heal the wound but Jasmine could not say a word. Grabbing Jasmine's body.
"Correction made. Now it's best if we handle it our way." Stepping out of the classroom, seeing Laguna, Misha and Solomon drenched in blood.
"Seems like you got here first. I was thinking about killing her slowly but you're fast and efficient that's what matters." Solomon spoke as he wiped the blood off his face with a handkerchief.
"The Enforcer has given his orders. We're to perform corrections. The destruction of Seven Hells from Euphemia."
"He will return and when he does, we must be prepared."
Errol and Gary were walking into a Seven Hells office with cigarettes on their lip. Donald and Jersey by their side with their people. A Hunter walked on over to greet them.
"Oh, it's Black Wing. What can I do fo-" Errol slit the Hunter's throat.
"It's just business. Let's kill them boys!" The Hunters went to grab their weapons but Donald struck first. His fists pommeled them into submission, Jersey readied her pistol as she led the Blue Roses on a hunt. Going into the rooms where Hunters were taking their break. Gunning the Hunters down. Despite their constitution that would've made bullets useless. The special bullets Warcrest made and the pistols that Regal designed? It made them nothing but easy prey. Those that got their weapons? Even with their weapons and gear, they weren't so lucky as they suffered longer. Errol and Gary used the gaps in their armor as Donald's Crew would tear off the armor.
"Why? Why are you doing this?"
"You went after the boss's family. That's just how it is." A shot to the head to silence the poor Hunter.
Corvus was already taking heads in the middle of the street. A mass execution as he wielded a longsword. Piercing straight into the heart of a Hunter who was with his family. Kicking the body down as Corvus glanced at them who were panicking and terrified. Readying his pistol, as he shot the wife and son. Looking for more members of Seven Hells. This justification was given by the Empress who had revealed what they had done. She had given the Seven Hells members time to leave the country but they refused. This was the price. There was nothing that could be said to appease the allies of Black Wind. The other Hunters who got in their way were beaten to submission as the Seven Hells started to live in a nightmare. Hunted like dogs. They were massacred everywhere. No matter the place and location. A wedding? A birthday party? A club? A bar? A restaurant.
All of that became fair game. The Empress's justification would spur a war but Lowell and Black Wing were ready for it.
