Chapter 43 : The Invasion.

The Drednia Kingdom's soldiers marched on. Led by knights who were considered to be among the top fighters in the kingdom. The knights rode on horses whereas the regular soldiers were on their feet. The fact that the barriers had been lowered from the non-human's last refuge. It must be a good coincidence.

"Why are we even here, captain?" One of the knights inquired.

"To get the hero that was kidnapped. Or so they say. According to the few who were present. He had slaughtered some of the guards and said he despised Marceas. How dare the fool..."

"Well, if he's willing to die by the side of the vermin. Then it would be perfect. Once we burn the Elven Tree. They won't be able to do much. Then we can have the elves to ourselves for a little fun..." Arriving to the forest, seeing Raven and his Claws waiting for them.

"Great hero. Why do you reject Marceas's teaching? Shouldn't you be grateful that you were brought here? Why do you stand with the vermin?!" The captain spoke up, only seeing Raven light a cigarette, with the Claws still on their knees. Puffing smoke to the captain who continued to blabber on. Raven took a moment to tilt his body to the side, seeing the entire army had arrived. Eating the cigarette as his soon to be boredom was cured.

"Claws." They stood upon a single word, readying their weapons.

"They're all here. Begin the purge."

"So you have no intention to sp-"A javelin launched the captain off his horse, followed by the Devoted Claws using their sickles to slash off the captain's limbs. Throwing them away like it was just useless meat. Before the soldiers could react, the Shielding Claws charged into them with their shields. Skewering them as their eyes met with the Claws. There was no fear. No hesitation. Not even anger. Just pure devotion to their leader. The Fanatic Claws went after the soldiers who were trying to rekindle the chain of command. Limbs were severed, no lives were taken. A soldier was hit in the head by a blade from the gauntlet, followed by being pinned down to the ground by a javelin. Then the sight of the Claw tearing off the limbs.

Their morale had broken with Raven finally making his move. Leaping into the air as he flipped, crashing downwards with his blades cleaving a handful of arms off.

"Use your magic and aura! They can't withstand that!" They were right but maybe half right. The thing about facing the Claws? They're devotion to Raven powers their faith. How can you shake the faith of a person who has already signed with the one they believe in to be near a God? Their devotion to Marceas? It was breaking by the second, eyes pleading mercy but the Claws would not grant them that mercy. Raven dived in, slashing off the limbs. Firing shots straight at the mages that tried to cast their magic. Disrupting it as his Sharpened Claws would handle the rest. Slashing the limbs off, tearing out the voice boxes of their throats.

"Leave one alive, yeah?" Raven said as he kicked a knight down, firing shots to the leg and slashing the arms off. Walking over to the next ones who had slowly reached their breaking point. An army of ten thousand was now resting on javelins. Or lying on the ground bleeding out slowly as just mere torsos with their heads intact.

"By the order of the One Who Rips!" The lone survivor was on his knees. Lost, confused and unable to say anything. Muttering the same word. 'It's pointless'. Over and over again.

"What are we going to do with this one?" Raven just used rip the chains on the poor bastard, waking the soldier up from his nightmare as the Claws brought the horses to the carts. Loading it with the bodies of the soldiers.

"Tell your King. That I'll be coming to see him in a while. So don't get too impatient. You also get a chance to live. Enjoy yourself." The lone survivor got on a horse, riding away with carts full of corpses. There were some corpses still stuck on the javelins but they didn't bother with it. Stepping back inside where Aurae had waited for him, along with Sylia and a few more elves that shared her hair color.

"My nightingale. I'm glad you're unharmed."

"If I knew the situation was this bad, I would've chosen another Persona to use. But we'll have to make due with what we got. Claws, take a break. Get cleaned up. Get some food. Be nice to the locals. If they're intimidated, try to keep your gazes low. Be polite."

"Yes, One Who Rips." The Claws took off their armor, heading over to get themselves sorted as Raven kept his gaze upon Aurae. Seeing her husband, who was once a high elf and now a human stained with blood.

"Please follow us.. Father, the advisors are all waiting for you in the throne room." Syli led the way as the others kept to themselves. The 4 sons were unsure of what to say while the other daughter was trying to piece things together. The 4 children were holding the hands of their parents as Raven could see the Claws getting their meals and eating on the ground. There were some who had finished their meals and had begun their maintenance of their weapons. The non-humans seemed to keep their distance but so did the Claws.

A child who tripped on the ground was caught by a Fanatic Claw, gently helping the child to their feet. Then proceeding to join the other Claws. Meditating and their prayers. Prayers that weren't for peace. It was a prayer for more foes to slaughter. For the ones who dared to cross the One Who Rips to be in their sights, granting the Claws the pleasure of taking their lives. Making his way to the throne room, as the advisors stood by the side. Syli and the others took their seats but Raven remained in the center.

"Father.. Why aren't you taking a seat beside us?"

"I'm not the High Elf Nightingale. I'm the human Raven Ashenworth. Besides if I sit in that throne it might just start grabbing me again." To which they see branches began to give chase after Raven. Grabbing his right arm. Instead of a forceful grab, it felt like a puppy waiting for its next treat.

"I don't have mana right now. I'll feed you mana later. Sheesh why are you acting like such a spoilt brat." Stroking the branch as they see the branch extend upward. Dropping golden apples for Raven.

"Hey. Reserve your mana." The tree branches shifted away from him. Then pointing at the throne where Raven shook his head. Bickering with the tree, Aurae could not help but chuckle as everyone could see the tree and Raven bicker on. Him refusing because he doesn't have mana but the branches seem intent on wanting Raven to take a seat by the throne.

"Fine. I'll take a seat." Raven took his seat beside Aurae, where the throne began to glow. Surging with mana as the tree branches began to pierce into his hands. He didn't scream, just gritting his teeth, making sure he didn't bite his own tongue in the process. The pain was sharp, like the branches were growing within his body.

"Father?! What is the Tree doing!?"

"It's just giving me mana. But damn this hurts." Raven said, groaning from the pain as the tree branches pulled away from him. His hair had grown long again, this time turning into his usual white rather than the black or any other color from his other lives.

"My nightingale."

"I'm fine Aurae. It's just the tree is acting like a puppy. So give me the summary." The advisors explained everything.

The human and non-human treaty which was signed during Nightingale's Reign 3 thousand years ago, was broken the last 100 years as humans had began invading all territories. The Elven Tree was the last refuge. However, several vampires and demons colluded with the humans to destroy the Elven Tree. They wish to corrupt it. Another reason for the demons and vampires aggression is that his two sons had children with a vampire and a demon. Granted that wasn't an issue but to the vampires and demons who were obsessed with blood purity. It was enough for them to attack. Two of his grandchildren had lost their mothers. He was livid.

"Violet Wiseman, King of the North Melgis and Soul Blade Disciple Levi." Saying those words they see a door open where they see a hulking human who had tattoos all over his body. Hair that was a great mane shouldering a pair of great axes like they were simple tools. Then a tall, elderly man who wore a raincoat. On his back were two crossbows. One large, heavy crossbow and the other a smaller but it had four barrels. The last one was an individual wearing a black hood with two sabers tucked in his belt. Hanging loosely as the individual lowered the hood.

"Melgis." Melgis began to laugh as he gave Raven a great bear hug. Lifting him off the ground.

"My friend! How I've waited to join you in your fight!" They could hear bones cracking.

"G-Good to see you, Melgis. My bones!" Melgis lowered Raven down.

"Wiseman."

"Abyss." Wiseman greeted with a cigar to his lip, which Raven lit it up. Then turning to the young man with the stern face.Kneeling before Raven.

"Grand Master. I am grateful that you requested for me."

"Soul Blade Wielder of Dark. You're one of Quintus's disciples. That's good. I guess you three understand why I summoned you here right?" A nod as Raven thought about what he could have them do.

"If I asked you guys to destroy and plunder a few towns. Would you be fine with that?" Melgis grinned.

"I'd like to see how humans are in this world but your army is weak! I would prefer to train them. The werewolves do not have their fangs sharpened. The dragons seem timid. If I train them, my friend. We don't have to worry if we choose an all out war."

"Father... Who is he?"

"The King of Barbarians in another world. Believe in his words. He faced a thousand paladins and five thousand knights alone. The other man is someone I call Wiseman. He's powerful and also someone I killed and Levi is a Soul Blade Wielder of Darkness. Trust in them. Melgis, train the army. Wiseman. Levi. Head to these places. Do what you want. Kill them, maim them or just gather intel." Wiseman grabbed the map, Levi glanced at it and he vanished.

"I'll take this as a request. What about payment?"

"Elven wine and dwarven liquor is strong Wiseman. I'm curious to see if you can drink it." Wiseman gave a nod as he left.

"Now we wait for the report. Shall we begin our talk?"

Meanwhile Wiseman was on his way to the nearest town. His heavy crossbow became the center of attention. Heading to a bar with some coins that he got, it was a starting plan. Taking a seat by the stool as the bartender made the order. Taking a sip of ale, it wasn't bad but better than whatever crap he had back in his world. The door behind him was opened with haste as footsteps approached him from behind.

"You with the crossbow! Who are you?" Turning to the guards and knights who were bothered. Blades drawn with shaking hands.

"Just an old hunter from faraway lands. Is there a problem?"

"You're one of the people that hero summoned aren't you!?" Wiseman downed the ale before he stood on his feet. Grabbing the heavy crossbow, seeing the limbs being made of metal with blades attached to it. The sound of Wiseman pulling the string was enough to stir their hearts. Seeing that he loaded it with a harpoon. Pulling the trigger, skewering a dozen of them at once. Three knights closing in. Wiseman used his left leg to kick a stool over that caused one to stumble, then swinging his crossbow that pierced through their helmets. Lifting it up as he loaded for another harpoon. The two knights were still hanging to the left limb of the crossbow, how easily Wiseman lifted them over. To the Violet Wiseman, corpses on the side of his limbs were nothing more than added weights.

The guards threw down their weapons and fled while the lone knight fell to her knees. Wiseman however ignored her as he took his seat by the stool. Puffing the smoke out of his cigar. The bar was left unoccupied as everyone ran away in panic.

"Why won't you kill me?!" The Wiseman walked over to the shelves of bottles, glancing at them to figure out what was interesting. She picked up her weapon, leaping over the table as Wiseman smashed her head in with the bottle. Splattering her brain and her eye sticking out. Flicking the top off as he took a swig. Coughing loudly from the sharp taste that was foul to his tongue.

"I guess drinks in this world taste bad." putting the bottle away as he stepped out of the bar, seeing the knights, the guards and adventurers who were readying their weapons. Lifting his hood as all they could see were the violet eyes and the red glow of the cigar.

"You are a heretic! You are the same as the unclean!" No response. Wiseman just readied another harpoon for his weapon. The spring screaming as the harpoon locked itself in place.

"Kill him!" The adventurers with the shields charged forth. A war cry to boost their strength, yet Wiseman just swung his crossbow. Sending the row of shields flying to the nearby buildings. A nimble adventurer leaped from the side, where Wiseman elbowed the adventurer's face. Just lightly shifting his elbow that caused the adventurer's head to twist backwards. A mage launched a barrage of fire spears to Wiseman's positions. Watching Wiseman catch a spear with his hands, then throwing it back at the mage. Skewering a mage and two adventurers who were unlucky. Seeing the violet eyes and smoke churning from Wiseman's head.

"How dare you!" Another adventurer used aura with the slash. The attack didn't make it through. Stopped dead in its tracks as Wiseman shattered the longsword, then swinging the heavy crossbow at the adventurer. Taking aim at the knights who were escorting a noble in the distance. The noble riding his horse as the guards and knights were fighting them. Squeezing the trigger gently. Lining up the shot as adventurers and knights attacking him relentlessly. A pull of the trigger as the noble was impaled to a wall. With a single motion, the adventurers and knights were sent to the walls.

Spears of darkness gave chase where Wiseman swung them away. Glancing at a humanoid being floating in the sky.

"Hm... Human, your blood will taste exquisite." Wiseman readied the harpoon, lighting another cigar. Seeing more of the beings appeared, now with wings on their backs.

"We are the vampires and you who dare to stand our way to the Elven Tree. You will fall!" The vampires began to sprawl to his position. Coming from the ground, from the skies and from the alleys. Instead of fear. They just heard Wiseman's laughter. His laughter silenced the vampires. They felt something stir within the cores of their souls. An instinct that screamed for them to run. That the man who was before them? Was not simply just a man. But a beast in human form.

The lower vampires went after him as the nobles stood to bear witness. What they expected to be an easy kill. Was proved to be wrong. The battle had begun Wiseman cleaving his way with his heavy crossbow. Launching a harpoon directly into an unsuspecting vampire noble. The harpoon skewered the heart as Wiseman readied the smaller crossbow. Rather than being slow, it was firing multiple arrows in succession. When the arrows pierced the lower vampires, it blew off their body parts. Pressing a button to release the magazine at the bottom, slapping another block of arrows into it. A vampire climbed on Wiseman's body, ready for a bite. Biting into Wiseman's raincoat as the vampire's teeth shattered. Confused to what had happened as Wiseman simply threw the vampire down and crushed the head with his boot.

"All your life. You live like beasts. Needing to satiate your hunger. Years beyond my own. Truly a fine prey for my hunt!" A harpoon launched that pierced a noble in the chest, but unlike the other harpoons. This one had a rope which Wiseman pulled to bring the noble to face him. The violet eyes gazing back at the vampire noble had the vampire noble screaming in fear. It was the realization that this human before him was not going to run. His left hand pierced through the vampire noble's chest, ripping the heart out. The vampires were about to be hunted by the Violet Wiseman and word will travel back to their kin, that a man in a raincoat. Will be their greatest nightmare.

Those who fell to panic tried to run but arrows would give chase. Striking their limbs to blow off their bodies. Nobles would try to flee. Only for harpoons to skewer their hearts, followed by tugs of rope that brought them before him. Meeting their end by his hands.

An entire town had been emptied as Wiseman lowered his hood, still puffing smoke through his cigar. Only the harpoons were left as a reminder.

"I'll need to get Abyss to make more harpoons for me." Wiseman slung his weapons to the back as he made his way back to the Elven Forest.
