Inside a fancy villa, screams were being heard. Gunfire cracked off repeatedly. Shouting as voices were screaming. The door broke as a man tried to say something to his boss, only to get a blade impaling him in the chest.
"Who are you?" The elderly man spoke, where Raven just pulled out the pistol.
"You work with Blackout right?"
"Just be done with it." Raven emptied his magazine into the elderly man's chest, scrounging the entire room for any details. Ledgers that had weird company names, journals of details, a safe with a lot of money. Money would be useful for ammo, the ledgers and journals would be something Raven needed to identify the players. This was the third house he had just handled. A grim reminder that Blackout's presence was being cut down by a mad man. The news outlet labelled 'Masked Man' as nothing short of a mass murderer. He got the details he needed, Raven proceeded to move to the next location. Scavenging weapons from Blackout's equipment.
Making his way to the fourth location, Raven pulled the bolt of his rifle.
"Stop there! Wh-" Raven pulled the trigger, blasting heads with his storm of lead. Moving forward, as his attack was replied with gunfire. Throwing the rifle away as he pressed the baton, drawing out a saber. Dodging their gunfire, weaving through as the gap was closing in. Heads were sent flying by his blade. Off to an adventure with the grim reaper, as Raven lodged the blade into a gunman's head. Drawing out the knives as he went straight to lacerating the limbs. Stellar footwork and flexibility that made him make dodges that did not make sense. Cartwheeling to a gunman, a kick to the face as Raven stabbed the chest, shoving the pistol to the eye. Pulling the trigger as blood splashed over his mask.
Grabbing a man by the head, smashing him to the corner of a wall as they see the neck snap. The shock of what they saw, proved that something had awaken. Fear. They were used to giving it but being on the receiving end of that overwhelming sensation? The grim reaper was before their eyes, sharply dressed with the tools to take their lives. Fingers coated with blood. Point blank range with pistols, blasting shots. Turning the gunmen into fountains of red. Soon to be victims of his violence, cut down as Raven made his way inside.
A family of 5 who were terrified, with a mother holding a baby.
"Spare our kids please!" He just pulled out the pistol. This was going to leave a bitter taste in his mouth, he's about to kill a baby. It was something he hated because the child did nothing wrong but too many times did he have to learn the price of letting a survivor live.
"I'll make sure that the kids and your husband die quickly."
"No p-" A few shots as the mother was left behind, tears in her eyes as she screamed for her lost family.
"Blackout will kill you! Everyone you love and know will die!"
"I know. That's why I'm killing them first. Blackout will come to hunt me down. But they won't be able to find anything." Raven held the woman's head, pointing the pistol to her head.
"An eye for an eye." Her head exploded as blood stained the walls of the living room. This should be enough as Raven found a special chat, sending a text.
'I'm waiting for you at a villa. Seems like I found a good member. Just come all at once." Snapping a photo of the deceased and sending provocative text messages. Raven could hear the cars coming over, glancing out the window. Seeing the many figures who were present. Raven stepped out with his saber, glancing at the ones who were present. Hours had passed as Raven stepped out.
"Just kill hi-" In that moment the leader's head flew into the air, followed by the second in command being grazed by a gunshot. Three more came to strike him with their swords. Coordinated but against the current him? Foolish. Abyss's Waltz in Black made Raven near impossible to hit. No matter how many attacked, Raven was like a ghost. Slashing them down was easy, even with Blackout's best officers and combatants. They were outclassed. Experience? None can compare to Raven. Strategy? Nothing would work unless they had a nuclear bomb.
Raven was singing a tune as he cut them open. A tune about dreaming of a lost lover, only for sorrow to be found.
"Why? Why is he singing?!"
"Because it's been so long since I've had a lovely audience! Now I get to cut all of you open! What fun!? WHAT JOY?! What a lovely audience!" Raven shouted as he continued to slash through the numbers.
"It's lovely isn't it? This sensation of fear. The way you feel like all hope is lost. That's the desperation to live. Fight or die! Only one of us can live! And I only bet on myself!" Raven howled into them, their morale crumbled. Their castle that once believed to be impenetrable were being swept by a singular wave. Sand being torn away by the overwhelming tide. Blood raining all over as Raven began to laugh. Tearing through until the last one standing. Who just decided to shoot himself in the head. Raven pulled out his pistol, firing shots that killed the rest of their members. Then snapping photos and sending it out to the media.
This would spread like wildfire, for an organization that was supposed to be big. Raven expected to handle this matter over a few months. For an organization that was said to be capable, Raven prepared himself for the upcoming fights. Expecting it to take longer but he got a call from Blackout.
"So you... Destroyed our men? For what reason?"
"Nothing in particular. Just don't bother the peace and quiet I have. If you don't like it, I'll just sit here and wait. You can keep sending more men after me. They're skilled but not as skilled as me."
"Then what about money?"
"Nah, I can't work for you. We're both professionals. We don't betray our employers or rat them out unless there's been a breach to a contract." The voice of the leader kept quiet.
"I see. So you just want us to leave that country alone?"
"Yeah. And don't bother the people from here when they leave. If not, I'll come outside to play and I think I can leave more bodies than you can."
"You'd do all this just for that reason?"
"Yup." The Blackout leader's voice seemed to be bewildered, hearing murmurs as he tried to make sense of what had happened. Plenty of them want blood for blood but, the leader was keeping them in check.
"We'll leave the country. As long as no harm comes to them. We won't be attacked right?"
"Yep. If your subisidiaries did it. Contact this phone number and I'll sort it out myself."
"I understand." Raven hung up the phone, glancing at the cadavers as he just walked away from the chaos, police cars rushed to the scene. But Raven was long gone, standing on the rooftop of an empty building. The fight did take some of his stamina. Embers of a lighter that warmed his bloodied hands, inhaling a poison for his body. One that has been his friend for the many years.

"Fine. I'll stay." Raven said as he made his way to another safehouse that the chairman had gotten him. Quite the ways to go as he would be cutting through the forests. The fauna being cautious of him, the smell of blood that made them feel uneasy. Unlike humans, animals can tell when a great threat has appeared before them. Reaching the safehouse, where he put the clothes aside. The pistols, knives and the batons placed on the table.
The shower gracing Raven's body with cleanliness as he watched pools of red be spiraled into the drain. No matter which life he led, this was the common factor. For survival or for his own motivations, blood is always spilled. Such is the price of being in conflicts. Such is the price of that moniker War God.
The hues of orange and purple gracing his table. Daylight escaping into the darkness as Raven switched on the light. There was no sense of comfort for him as he sat by the table. Only the smell of blood as Raven took a moment to clean the bloodstains with a bunch of tissues. The weight of his actions lingered on his shoulders. The comforting poison being exhaled from his lungs. Memories of the late nights, the many hopeless fights. The death by his hands, the deaths by his orders.
Within that one ember of cigarette smell. He was going to remember everything. The flashes of every single death that led him up to this point. The ghosts of the past reached out as he felt his skin crawl violently. Vivid illusions, memories of the past came struck his mind like a thousand sledgehammers driving an insignificant nail into the coffin.
Cleaning the weapons, wiping the blood off. Sharpening the saber with the whetstone. A form of therapy was to make sure his weapons were ready. Sharpening the knives felt the same. With one of the main objectives completed. Raven sent texts to Lana, Jane and Heather. Saying that Blackout will leave them alone.
'Where are you?'
'Come back soon, be safe.'
'You better explain this to me!'
Despite the bitter taste in his mouth, not from the cigarette but rather the fact that he had executed a number of children. It just made him a hypocrite as he wishes to protect them but he'd kill women, children the elderly if needed. There was no justifiable reason. Raven wasn't going to bullshit himself on that. Pulling the slide of his pistol, just doing a functions check. He was a murderer. He was a monster.
It's as simple as that. It wasn't indiscriminate. If they didn't use other humans as shields, Raven wouldn't bother. But when people start throwing threats all around? That was enough for Raven to do the same. They set the rules of engagement. They bomb civilians of his country? He bombs theirs. It's always an eye for an eye. He'd rather be blind than just take these threats sitting down. Mutual destruction was an assurance as most people only fight when victory is assured.
The moonlight greeting the curtains like an old friend. Raven was going to get onto his bed. Pure silence invaded the room, his thoughts that were drifting all around. The consciousness and subconsciousness emptied whatever else right into the shredder. Today was done, tomorrow is coming.
Tomorrow will be the Raven of tomorrow's issue, not today. When the day is done, just empty your mind and head to bed. Not everything has to be spent in useless thoughts.
Greeted by the crack of dawn as Raven put the clothes in a bag, putting his spent tissues in black, opaque trash bags. Placing them into garbage disposal areas as Raven would leave this place. Tickets for a bus trip as Raven headed back to the city. It was time for him to plan out the dates and what he should do next. As tedious as this was, having more skills would benefit him more.
Yet, the difficulty arises. Because of how skewed logic is and that he's in the shoes of the so called 'Main Character' he is virtually considered to not do anything wrong and the ladies would naturally have their guards down because of him. He can't use his usual strategy of taking it slow. But his gentlemanly nature did win points.
Shit. I just cringed at the idea of calling myself a gentleman. Besides, I'm doing this for my own motivations and goals. They'll be useful. But having ulterior motives like this. This is just evil.
He was rightful to think so because Raven was reverting back to his past in a way,in other Personas. Raven would use his good looks, he would manipulate people if it benefited him. He hated doing things in a roundabout way but that was a necessity during the time.
Arriving at the capital, Raven headed to meet Michelle first. He needed to apologize to her. The ticking of his watch indicated it was her lunch break. Buying some food as Raven headed to see Michelle. The nurse of Michelle's clinic let him pass through, finding her in a state of exhaustion. A knock on the door where she darted up with her back straight as a ruler.
"I'm awake!" her eyes met with Raven, who placed the food in front of her.
"An apology, for leaving you like that. I had to take care of something." She held his wrist, pressing on the nerves to see his reflexes.
"It's healed... What did you do?"
"Did what I had to do. Can't tell you much about it because I have an NDA." Her gaze locked into his, seeing his weak smile and the tired eyes. Like he had not slept for days, the black circles beneath were her hint. Raven took a seat by the corner of her desk as Michelle got close, leaning her head onto his lap.
Noticing the reports before her had been smudged, stained by her tears.
"Couldn't save this one?" The silence was an answer, as she gripped his hand tightly. Silently letting the tears pour out onto his lap. Stroking her hair.
"When it comes to saving lives. Failing to save one can haunt you forever. Especially in your profession. You can promise and do your best, but if the Grim Reaper has to pull them away, then you just do what you can."
"Is that suppose to comfort me?" Turning her head to meet his eyes, as his gentle fingertips made her feel safe.
"No. It's not. It's because of that desire to save people that you push yourself too much. The notes and books by the table were wrinkled. I just guessed that you feel uneasy. Because of what had happened in the past. Every life you fail to save, it drives you to study. So the ones that die on the operating table or outside of it after your operation. You study them so that the next person will be safe. But it can take a mental toll on you, Michelle. When your will and heart breaks, it takes its toll on your body. So you need a routine to help you get through it. Grieving a patient isn't a bad thing, Michelle. Just don't let those voices consume you."
"How do you deal with it?" An earnest question.
"I'm at peace with what I do. It does affect me at times but I just ignore it and push on because I can handle it. When it does hit, I just focus on the now. If it hits you before an operation, review your notes and then proceed from there. Focus on saving the current patient. The dead can be grieved later. It's how I lived up until recently. Coming here made me see things differently. The sooner you make peace with the grim reaper who holds their fate, the better."
"You suck at making me feel better." Grumbling as she rolled on Raven's lap.
"I'm a realist, doc. If you wanted the ideal guy who spouts what you want to hear and not what you need to hear. Find another guy." Michelle just chuckled as she continued laying her head on his lap.
"But how did you make your peace?"
"Accepting that life is full of ups and downs. A bad day isn't a bad life. A bad day is just that to me, a bad day. I did what I could today. I might've fucked up as I do it, but I got through the day. Not everyday is perfect, so enjoy those days more." His words were just a simple answer but Michelle seemed to favor it greatly. She got off from Raven's lap, where Raven opened her food, cutting it as he fed her bite by bite.
"I can eat it myself.."
"Your eyes are puffier than a puffer fish. Just eat." Michelle had given in, as Raven fed her the meal. When she was done, he wiped her mouth with a handkerchief and gave her a bottle to drink.
"Do your best, doc."
"You can call me Michelle."
"Nah, doc at work. Michelle for when you're off the clock." Raven said as he left. Heading out to go meet the other ladies. A bit of apology here and there, he can get this whole dating plan on the road.
