A dungeon portal appeared in the academy the next day, the students along with S-Rank Hunters were preparing to subjugate it. Hwan and Dong-Min were present along with Laguna. Though what they did see was Raven stepping out with Urag. The sight of a high orc wearing a suit was bizarre for them but the fact that the two of them were laughing was another oddity.
"So this is the academy?"
"Yeah. Those are the students, instructors and the Hunters. What do you think?"Urag glanced around as they see orcs in suits bringing in chairs and tables.
"Headmaster, please take a seat. This is Urag. He's a High Orc but he's a merchant first."
"A merchant? But I thought orcs are brutes!?"
"Trust me when I say this kids, Urag's entourage aren't easy to fight. Goblins that know how to use knives, elves that are experts with firearms and the like. Urag is a merchant of many deals. From bargain deals of skill books and gears. To exclusive deals that he has by his side. Personally I would buy some gear from him but it's not that easy since I kinda need cash for my allies. Also, just so you know. Urag can beat S-Rank Hunters. He's someone who dives deep into martial arts and techniques. But he's a merchant first and his entourage isn't the normal kind. They all can handle A-Ranked Hunters like they're chump change." Raven's words brought an air of caution because his tone was different. It wasn't laid back or relaxed.
"Headmaster Grissom. My friend proposed a unique discussion. I hear students have been getting injured on their dungeon raids and it's been getting dangerous as of late. What I can offer you. Is a deal on equipment to suit them. Spells and skills. Books to help deepen their knowledge on the environment. Weapons and armor. All I need is payment in currency. Human currency and offerings from the dungeons. Items and equipment that you don't need, I can sell it for you." Urag's offer was tempting as they see his wares being shown. Weapons made of mysterious metals, armors inscribed with runes and scriptures.
"How would this work?" Grissom inquired as he wanted to understand the nature of this agreement.
"I provide services and sell goods. Information regarding dungeons that may not have been documented. From ingredients to craft food, poison and armor. My services include information. All I require is your academy to be a place where I can start selling. This dungeon will be placed in a building within the academy. What I need is that building. The academy will get a 3% cut out of all of my sales. Raven get's the 2% because he's introducing me to you." Urag proposed a document where Grissom took the chance to read through it. It was detailed, primarily focusing on the selling and purchasing. Urag will buy any equipment the Hunters would be willing to sell. Books and whatever it was he could get his hands on.
"You can also gain access to materials not found on your world. So I can have equipment and things made by necessity. Of course, Raven you will get a discount as will your familiars." Urag's deal was great and he also offered documents to Grissom to introduce to Commander Shaw and President Black. It would be something that was necessary. The situation dying down as Laguna trained Dong-Min with Raven heading over to his class of F-Rank Students. Only seeing 12 of them.
"Morning class, let's start homeroom. Introduce your name and Class." Raven said as he took a seat.
"Julius Leonid. My Class is Legionnaire."
"Colton Sampson, Spellsword."
"Trix Howard, Crusader."
"Rowena Skinner, Necromancer."
"Sybil Kain, Priestess."
"Ike Hubbard, Stormsinger."
"Sinead Harrington, Totemist."
"Angus Arvert, Shadow dancer."
"Tristan Fuller, Sniper."
"Owain Pittman, healer."
"Herman Kramer, Assassin."
"June Lars, Healer."
"Take your seats." They took their seats as Raven read through the documents, this class was branded as failures by the academy for plenty of reasons. Julius's class as a Legionnaire is a variant of warrior but the training has to match. Problem is, the one size fits all policy of the academy made Julius be deemed weak. Sinead's skill as a Totemist is similar to a Summoner but uses totems that needs to be crafted. Because her starting totem is small and weak, she failed her class. Tristan is a sniper but he's piss poor with a rifle. Owain and June were healers but they don't have the mana capacity to keep up with the mana they used. Angus and Herman were assassins but the pair failed because Herman's tall stature made regular assassination tactics be useless whereas Angus struggled because he doesn't understand how his class works. Ike Hubbard did well but struggled with using the Stormsinger's ability.
Reading this however. Pissed Raven off. Because these 12. Were his students in the past. Back when the upper echelons of Hunters fell, these 12 were by his side. They all were at their peak, becoming the next S-Ranks. All of them were given names but they all died when Sovereigns crushed them before his eyes. All for the sakes of making sure Raven made it to meet with Vinter. That was the day when all emotion died. Every ounce of human emotion and urges faded. Living with hate, breathing in the wrath and expelling the fury. That was all that Raven had in his mind.
"Those idiots don't know how to train you."
"But instructor? Is that even possible?" Ike asked.
"Yeah. I can fix it. But the training I do isn't for the faint of heart. It's difficult and it's going to break your will. The academy doesn't know how to train you all. We'll start tomorrow. In the meantime." Raven had books for them to read. It was specifically for their classes and how to make it through their shortcomings.
"Take a look into those books when you're free. Learn page by page. That's only the first volume by the way. Good luck. Class dismissed." The students left the class. Just the sight of his students. The ones who fell at the hands of the disciples, they did not despair. They turned to Raven, smiling at him.
"Thank you, teacher!" Those last words haunted Raven. A cloud loomed over his face, the weight of those years had slowly eased the tension in his shoulders. Glancing at the window, seeing his reflection with tears but Raven's face was stoic. That was how he was all this time, he could never cry in earnest. Too busy killing whatever it was because that was just how he would lash out. Like a child throwing a tantrum. The windows began to crack, a brief moment of Raven seeing the other Personas reacting the same way. Wiping the tears away, his emotions that was a dam could not go through.
Leaving the classroom, seeing students running to the field. What's going on now? Something must've happened to cause everyone to gather there.
"Stop it! Julius!" Sybil's voice? Raven pushed through the crowd to see Julius who had bruises over his body, cuts on the chest. Glancing to the S-Rank Students who were glaring at Julius. One had Sybil by the arm, struggling as she took a slap to the face. Trix and Colton were also on the ground, Colton was being stomped on by a tank while Trix took a few hits to the stomach by another A-Rank, a monk. Jabbing straight to her stomach where Raven could hear bones break.
"They should know their place. Besides what's so special about this anyway?" A locket that held memories. He wasn't going to let this go on. When the locket was thrown to the well, it stopped. Floating to Raven's hands as he grabbed it. The sight of his presence had alerted the crowd for a moment.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"Instructor Ashenworth!"
"Oh hello instr-" Walking past them as Raven popped bottles of his best potions over his students.
"I don't want an explanation from any of you. Julius. What was the fight about?" Julius kept quiet only for Raven to grab Julius by the collar, lifting him up.
"I'm not waiting for an answer Julius. You either talk or I have to let this go." Then seeing Raven draw out a karambit, where Julius kept his silence. Only for the karambit to approach his face. The sight of Raven's glare and the tip of the karambit reaching the eye was enough to force the others to try and speak.
"THEY BOTHERED US!" Sybil spoke up.
"We were just reading the books you gave and they suddenly went after us! They said it's a waste of time for us to learn when we're not..." Sybil's tears fell as Raven lowered Julius down, then seeing Raven turn to the S-Ranks and A-Ranks students. They just chuckled and thinking it would be fine. Raven turned to Brigid and Grissom.
"How long have they been treated like this?" Silence.
"What's the big deal? It's not like they'll be able to amount to anything! Everyone knows Class trumps everything else!" Raven parked a cigarette to his lips, where another instructor broke it. A woman with red hair who just glared at him. Along with the other instructors from the A-Class and S-Class.
"Have some respect. You're just a brat who became S-Ranked by chance." The red haired woman spoke up where Raven just scoffed. Chuckling to himself as he glanced at her. Should I just kill her? Not like I give a shit about her anyway.
"Come now, there's no need to be hostile." Sartina appeared with some of the Seven Hells members. Coming in with the visitor passes.
"Jasmine, go easy on the poor boy. Now, Raven. Since you've officially joined the Black Wings... I hope you know you have a debt with us. For letting some of our guild members die." Sartina spoke up as Raven let out a sigh. A grin on her face as the others seemed to share the same sentiment but Raven was too busy right now.
"Where's the Enforcer?" Raven took a moment to glance to the side, seeing Aisha and Rodin walk on over with Jersey, Errol, Gary, White Tiger Regulars, White Tiger Elites and Book Keepers.
"Hey, Boss! I got something to show you." Jersey gave Raven the documents to look into it.
"Why hello there. I believe we've met?" Sartina tried to speak to Aisha and Rodin, but the pair ignored her as they readied their Book of Wrongs and Book of Corrections. Perusing through the documents had his nerves bulging. His face changed a bit. Hearing his teeth grind. Whatever that was on those documents had his turned his mood for the worst. A deep sigh as he put the documents back to Jersey's hands.
"We'll talk about this later. Why are you guys here?"
"Just came to give our report. Also curious to what's going on here. Another case of bullying? Surprised the bullies aren't dead." Errol spoke casually as the A-Class and S-Class students felt a chill down their spines.
"Different rules. You know I play by the rules when I can." Errol and Gary chuckled to that remark, then followed by Rodin and Aisha. Bickering as they talked about how Raven wasn't exactly someone who follows the rules of man, but rather the rules of the Causalities.
"Whatever. A-Class,S-Class. Don't bother the F-Class from now on. I got class, can this wait?"
"Can we watch?"
"Sure." Raven brought them to class where the A-Class and S-Class were taking their seats, seeing Raven beginning his lecture on aura. Making them learn about how aura's nature is innate but can change depending on one's view. Those who have been fueled by hatred will have a darker aura and it can form as bloodlust. But the two are not the same. Bloodlust comes from the kills one has, whereas aura is from within. Those who are fueled by good emotions, like the desire to protect and the desire to save someone. It can change to a purer form of aura.
"Good and bad aura follows your nature. If you're cunning, it'll follow your path. But just because you can advance to the next stage of aura. You shouldn't. A stage one aura that has been maxed out can handle the attack from a stage five aura user. The reason is because you solidify your aura's density." Seeing Raven's hands glow with two auras. One black and one white. Demonstrating how a stage one white aura going up against a stage five black aura. The black aura was dissipated when Raven clapped his hands. Then repeating the process with reverse variables. Changing their perception to the whole matter of aura entirely. Errol and Gary were also curious about aura, wondering if they can learn this. Which Rodin and Aisha said they can but they'll have to wait for Raven to pull a duplicate from the gacha system.
Class proceeded with students asking Raven questions. Explaining to them properly, giving them a few tips. Sartina was present and despite her pestering, Raven just ignored her. He just couldn't be bothered with her. Trying to get Raven roped into her guild. He didn't bother with it. Raven's allies bid their adieu to him as Raven proceeded with the rest of his day. Spending time with the F-Class. Fixing their fundamentals and going about the main issue. Something the school hadn't handled properly.
As day shifted to night for Aquila, Falco and Stervy. The three of them wore masks to cover their faces with knives in hand. They can't use any of their usual moves to prevent exposure. Under the cover of darkness, they were making their way into a compound. Silenced pistols in their hands as they made their move. Bypassing the guards who were walking about, unable to detect the three of them as their outfits kept them hidden.
"This new tech is great and all but why are we sneaking around?"
"It's because Jersey gave us a tip. The Seven Hells took some kids from an orphanage from Angelina and Mina's orphanage. They got a letter that made them alarmed. That's enough reason for me, Falco." The trio snuck around. Learning the ropes of infiltration from assassin Hunters. During that time Arctic Fox Team 5 and Team 6 were on standby with White Tigers and the Book Keepers. So if things get crazy, they can help provide cover. This compound was a massive warehouse complex with plenty of guards and spotlights illuminating the path. Arriving at a certain warehouse as Stervy was picking the lock.
"Arctic Fox, what's our situation?"
"You're clear for 30 seconds."
"Stervy." the lock was picked as they stepped in. Thick scent of blood and rotting. Their eyes widened to see people in cages. Children who seemed to be drugged, mouths drooling and they did not respond to any noise. One child was cowering with bruises on the body. A few corpses dumped to the side. Whoever that did all of this did not see them as people but rather as trash. The three of them were tempted to go all out.
"What did you find, brothers?" Raven's voice was on the line.
"We found people. Drugged? Experimented on? I don't know. It's.."
"They alive?" What would happen next would depend on their answer. The brothers needed to brace the storm.
"Some are but.." Before Aquila could finish, Raven gave the orders.
"Team 5, Team 6, White Tigers, Book Keepers. Do it quietly." With those orders gunfire ensued from the outside, screaming flooded the air. Whatever that was happening outside? It was brutal. Magic and aura were being used but all they could hear was screaming.
"Just wait there guys, the boys will be done soon." Raven's words echoed as a Fox of Team 5 stepped into the warehouse.
"It's clear, sirs. We'll bring them back to Pridelands. The White Tigers are checking the rooms for documents that will prove our case. But you should come with us." The three siblings glanced at each other, stepping out to see the corpses of the Hunters who were present. The Book Keepers had blood on their fists and their blades. Following the Fox to the a warehouse where they see three children who were present. Cowering in fear. Covering their faces.
"Please.. Don't hit me."
"I'll be a good boy. Please don't hit me."
"If you give me my doll, you can take my power." Aquila, Stervy and Falco felt their hearts sink. Hearing those words from these children. Blood boiling with rage at the thought of harming a child like this. The Fox seemed calm where Falco posed the question.
"Do you see this often?"
"Arctic Fox is a unit that handles missing children cases. Back in our world, we had governments backing the syndicates. Human trafficking at an all time high. Our job was to put them down fast and get these people help. This is just another day in the office for us, sir. Though I can tell the White Tigers and Book Keepers also seem disgusted. Those guys may be crooks but seeing how angry they are on this? I'm guessing Arctic Fox himself must've handled cases like this the same way. But these children, this is their biometrics." Aquila, Stervy and Falco looked at the tab held by the Fox. Their eyes widened as they realized who these children were.
"The late Imperial Family's children." 9, 10 and 12 years old based on the details but they seemed terrified. Their class? 'Power Enhancers' which the trio understood to be a danger. Their blood, their flesh and their bodies were full of so much power.
"Raven... The kids."
"Yeah, I heard. They're the late Imperial Family's children. The Imperial Family who had been assassinated 5 years ago. Only the corpses of the late Emperor and late Empress were left. Did the White Tigers find anything?" Errol came to join them with documents in his hands.
"Documents on experiments and a scientist named Groel. A few mention of a blue haired man from Seven Hells."
"Then it's their fault right? Can't we just make them answerable for this?" Stervy was lashing out the thoughts of Falco and Aquila.
"No. No. We go at it wholesale the true bastard will be able to run from the chaos. We need to figure out who it is first. But there's also a mention of a place called Latelica. Along with the Royal Family of Latelica?"
"Latelica... That's got one of the largest military forces in the world. Seven Hell's HQ is there. Raven?"
"Come on back. We'll figure things out as we go along." They packed up with trucks driven by Donald's Crew who brought the rescued and rescuers away. What will they do next?
