Chapter 44 : What the others are doing?

Chapter 44 : What the others are doing?

Fenris, Regal, Warcrest, Vesper and Garm were inside an A-Ranked dungeon. Facing some enemies with members of Division 9 of Black Wings. Vampires. Of all the things. It had to be vampires. Garm was firing his revolvers, shouting orders to the Division 9 members.

"Squad 2! Blondie! What the hell are you doing?! A tank is supposed to keep that shield up! Stay close to the mages!" Fenris delivered a knee strike to a vampire's head. Spinning in the air with the blades, slashing the vampire in half. Springing off the corpse to slash another. Regal fired special grenades to force the vampires out of cover. Giving Warcrest and Vesper the chance to tear through the horde. Garm kept cover with his revolvers, swinging the chambers to eject the empty magazines

"Clear?!"

"Clear!" The four Valors answered their Commander as Garm's face plate opened up, pulling out a croissant filled with cream as his snack. Warcrest? Lighting a cigar. Regal? Drinking tea from a thermos. Fenris? Collecting his throwing knives like a gremlin. Vesper was busy with his gear.

"So where is the Division head anyway?" One of the members asked.

"His skill sometimes takes him to places where he can't be reached. So we'll have to work it on our own. We're halfway through this people. Dungeon boss is supposed to be a vampire noble or something."

"Yes, sir!" The Hunters were invigorated, perhaps the addition of Raven's allies made them feel more comfortable. What amazed them was the versatility in the skillsets. Even the other divisions have been bringing Raven's allies on their dungeon duties. They continued on. Tearing through the hordes under Garm's command. Valor may be missing their 'Sting' but that didn't change how they fought. A nostalgic sensation as they faced the vampire nobles who were ready.

"Humans... You will all p-" Garm fired a shot through the vampire noble's head as they began their assault. Not caring about what the damned vampires were going to say.

Meanwhile, Laguna and Misha.

Laguna was training Dong-Min who was slowly getting used to using one single stone on his back. Going at Laguna with the Jikdo, fast swings and precise movement. It was slowly reaching his current limit. Laguna merely stood there with the sheathed jikdo, blocking all of Dong-Min's assault.

"Good. Keep that pressure. Do not back down. By keeping such an immense pressure against them. You can force them into your way." Dong-Min swung the sheath at Laguna who merely tilted his head a little to dodge the attack. A counter by striking Dong-Min in the stomach with the hilt, sending him back by 40 steps.

"Again!" Dong-Min went after Laguna once more.

Misha was training the other students in combat. Dodging most of their attacks as she used her fingers to guide their blades away. The students using firearms were trying to keep Misha within a certain range but she was able to weave through the bullets. Using the barrel as her guide to see where they would be aiming. The tanks were trying to outpace her strength with numbers. Only for Misha to simply punch them back. Mages casting their elemental spells and debuffs. Slashing the elemental attacks with her blade, brute forcing through it.

"You're not being aggressive enough! Being too timid is a problem in its own right!" Misha pushed them back with singular jabs. Ending the first round of practice. Where she gave feedback for every student. Going through all the classes. From the S-Class all the way to F-Class. Though the sudden change in F-Class was notable. They didn't fall within 60 seconds. They were able to last longer, using teamwork to push Misha to draw her blade. To attack them. Grazed but they were showing their worth.

"F-Class. Record to beat was 75 seconds. You held out for 76. That's an improvement." Encouraged by what was said by Misha, they cheered with joy. The S-Ranks who fell within 60 seconds felt their pride hurt from that revelation.

"Hunters don't fight alone. Teamwork makes or breaks your career. You're going up against someone who can destroy teams if they're careless. Frontline needs to keep pressure. Mages to add pressure along with buffs and debuffs. Ranged force me into a certain spot. Sometimes you don't need to engage me all at once. Time it properly. Think before you attack." Misha commented as she continued giving feedback. Focusing on the frontliners.

Waldo and Solomon were teaching the students as well as the instructors on magic. Perfecting gesture casting, making sure that they can perfect the chanting for their spells. Focusing on density so that even their basic magic spells can hurt foes if the need arises.

"Mana density should be the key. It is your foundation." Waldo spoke as they see flames surround the entire classroom. The mages felt the power surging on their tables and chairs.

"The stronger your foundation. The more control you have. I was the Flame Tower Master, so fire is my strong suit but all of my teachings will suit you. Do not think about using higher spells until your basic spells can dent armor. Your basic magic missile must be able to do this." Solomon placed a few pieces of metal armor, lining them up for Waldo. They see Waldo's magic missile being the size of a marble. Flicking it at the armor, piercing through all of them. A large hole for entry, then leaving a smaller hole for the exit.

"The minimum is to pierce metal. Don't waste your mana. Focus on keeping your greater spells for use in situations that you need it. Magic missiles use little mana but stronger enemies will have magic missiles that can send you flying through. Any questions?" A hand was raised.

"What kind of world were you from, Instructor Waldo?"

"The Flames of the Forest. I was the youngest Tower Master but I learned a lot from studying Raven's flames. The Flames of the Forest. He was the one person who could burn everything yet nothing. Flames that he controlled to the highest degree. That's what makes him so interesting. After the war in our world, he chose to stay alone in a forest. One that was made of flames. He spends his days there as nature itself grew from the fire. Studying magic is more than just books. You can study them from enemies. The Black Wings guild compiled a lot of videos on magic. So be sure to use the QR code. One of Raven's allies, Jersey had filtered the information and categorized them with my help. Magic is all about imagination. Spells can be made and designed depending on your skill level. Flames of the Forest, Raven's persona only uses one element and his flames are the only skill he has. But it's powerful. He refined it from a simple fireball into what it is we know as Flames of the Forest. Refine your techniques to the point that even your magic missile can kill. I will guide all of you." The mages learned from Waldo's words. Understanding the depth of their own skills. Practicing magic missiles while Waldo watched on.

Solomon was teaching debuffs to the students who had access to those skills. Focusing on enhancing the strength of the debuff rather than its duration. By enhancing a debuff. One can reduce attack from 15% to 45% at best. Though it will last for only 10 to 20 seconds. If timed well, it would be enough without the need to stack more debuffs. That was the plan that Solomon had given them.

Meanwhile, Errol was off destroying another gang with Rodin and Aisha. Standing in the gang's headquarters with just the three of them. Surrounded by a mix bag of Hunters and regular humans. Rodin read their wrongs. Which was threatening a civilian from Pridelands. Aisha read their correction. Death. Errol readied his karambits as the pair drew their kopis with Aisha grabbing Rodin's pair as he went at it with his gloves.

"Kill them!" The words were uttered but to the ones who said it. All they felt was despair. Heads were rolled off from the necks. Bodies crashing to the ground. Screams were heard as the hundred or so gang members were turned into corpses. The trio left as they headed to the next gang. Clearing up all the crime and also finding connections to the Seven Hells. The Empress gave Black Wings the authority to handle all matters as they deem fit. Prompting a brutal assault on the criminal network that had slowly crumbled. The brutality of Raven's allies was known to all. It didn't matter where or when they were or who they were with. They just had to be ruthless. Donald driving a truck into a warehouse that was making drugs, stepping out with his crew to handle business.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

The White Tigers led by Gary went on for their assault on strongholds. Cloud Breakers readying their katanas as they made a quick mess out of the many criminal groups that did not follow the plan Lowell had made. Choosing to strongarm the citizens. It's only fair for them to be prosecuted by their own kind. Within 3 days. 15 of the largest criminal groups in Euphemia were brought to their knees. Now, they would spill out the gist of what Latelica has been up to.

Meanwhile....

Raven was sleeping in the bed for the day with Aurae by his side. She had her head resting on his chest. His phone which followed him here showed the details of what had happened thanks to Vinter's servant giving the connection.

"Morning, nightingale." She pecked his cheek, cuddling even closer. Humming happily as Raven checked his points.

"Abyss Gaze's Weapon set. Azure Reaper's Bloodlust. Howler Custom. Fragmented Mage's Assault Break and Severed Knot's Pain Resistance. ." Raven said as the Howler Customs appear before him, replacing his regular gunblades. Ammunition Crafting was a skill that was common with most of his Personas. It's a skill that makes crafting projectiles useful, even ammo for his pistols. Aurae pulled Raven into the shower though he did not make much of a fuss. He was washing her hair and her back. Aurae got dressed and headed out first while Raven handrolled a few cigars for Wiseman, some herbs for Melgis if he needed to smoke. Unsure if Levi was a smoker. He just made a few cigarettes for the boy in case of anything.

Then stepping out to find Wiseman who was drinking a bottle of dwarven ale. His eyes met with Raven's who just gave him a cigar.

"How did it feel to hunt Vampires?"

"Easy. I think our vampires are a lot more dangerous. They didn't talk. They just killed. Only talked if they found us interesting."

"I'm going to make some new harpoons for you."

"Ho? New Harpoons would be good." Wiseman followed Raven out where Aurae was watching Melgis train the orcs with the war cry. Teaching them how to fight the only way he knows how, an aggressive barbarian with enough bloodlust to make a devil shy. Dragons were no longer timid, they were fighting against Melgis with the full might of their powers. Though like a forest before a tornado, they were leaves swept away by the wind. Even so, they just kept standing up. Facing Melgis again who had been grazed by their weapons and attacks.

"Think your harpoon can pierce through that?"

"Not a chance. I'll need to craft something better for that one. He's a beast in his own right." Raven went over to the Elven Tree that began to shed some of its wood before him. The current royalty stepped out to see the commotion. Seeing Raven using a knife to sharpen the wood while Wiseman brought forth the heads for the harpoon.

"To think.. The Elven Tree would give you its wood."

"Of course. It uses my High Elf body for all the mana it generates. It thinks of me as its owner. Playful like a puppy though." They see a sunflower blooming on some of the wooden shavings, where Raven patted the sunflower. Gently stroking its nose as it began to bounce. Showing its joy at his words.

"Elven Tree wood is a lot more durable than your regular harpoons. Infused with mana so its got a lot more options to it. I can imbue some mana into it to make it better. More speed?"

"Speed." Wiseman said as he passed Raven the harpoon tips where raven used a knife to engrave enchantments to it. Then hearing the buzzing in the air, where Raven glanced upwards to see the bees flying over to his side. Unlike the regular bees in his world, these ones were friendly and frankly speaking. Adorable. A little larger as they were getting lose. One sat on Raven's shoulders, as Raven stroked its head. They had hands and legs as they buzzed around.

"The bees of the forest?" Turning to see more insects flying in. Anthromorphic insects that descended, with the Queen Bee making her way to Raven. They see large mantises, gigantic ants and other sorts of creatures make their way over. Wiseman readied his weapon but seeing how calm Raven was as a mantis lowered its head for Raven to pet it.

"Your Majesty!" They see a bee offering flowers for Syli, Aurae and Raven's other children. One of his grandchildren watched as a bee flew close, offering its hand as she held it gently. The creatures of the forest stepped out, wolves, bears, deers and elk. Whatever it was would make its way to Raven.

"Seems like they wanted to greet me. Nightingale was the one who kept the balance of the forest." The Queen Bee sat down beside him, as they observed what Raven was doing. The harpoons for Wiseman were done, passing it over to his friend who felt it in his hands.

"Lighter than my usual..."

"Old man. Why not shoot your harpoon into my shoulder?" Melgis grinned as he stood by a wall. With Wiseman loading the harpoon to his crossbow. Pulling the trigger as Melgis felt it pierce into his shoulder. A proud laugh as he tore off his own shoulder with the bone intact. His left hand became limp.

"I heard you say earlier that I am a beast in my own right. An old hunter like you just pierced through the skin of the King of the North. Be proud old man. That means your harpoon can pierce through even greater beings. Raven! Can you fashion me a club or a handle from that Elven Tree?"

"Of course Melgis. Take a potion to put your shoulder back in place." Wiseman pulled out the harpoon easily as Melgis put his shoulder bone back in place, pouring potions from Raven that healed it up. Watching Raven make a club and handles for Melgis's axes. A sparrow sat on his head, along with squirrels and chipmunks resting by his shoulders.

"You look like one of those princes from my kid's fairytale cartoons, Abyss."

"That a compliment or an insult there, Wiseman?"

"I'll leave it up to you." Wiseman grabbed the newly made harpoons and headed out, most likely to take a break with the dwarves and elves by the bar in the forest. The sight of Melgis's sudden injury had caused some sort of fear from the ones who were being trained. Yet Melgis's grin and laughter at the idea of being injured left them in awe.

"In a fight. All that matters is coming out unscathed. You must train your mana and aura to become a coat on your own body. That's my secret to not being killed." They continued with their training as Raven gave Melgis his new weapons.

"I am quite bored, friend. Any fortresses nearby that I can conquer?" Syli brought a map for Melgis. One that had fortresses marked in red. That alone had Melgis grinning, his eyes lit up as he thought of plans to conquer those fortresses. The largest fortress was going to be his quarry. Army of 5 thousand but all he would bring to the fight this time would just be orcs. Just the best ones will do. 500 of them against an army would be interesting. That was his plan.

Wiseman just looked and picked out the fortress with the least targets. One that Syli had written as 'no strategic value'. His plan was to simply do whatever until they ran off and enjoy some good drinks.

Levi picked out a fortress that was of medium scale. His plan was to infiltrate and gather intelligence. Then he would silence the fortress.

Two of Raven's grandchildren, the half elf and half vampire, Aymer and the half elf and half demon, Meria took their seat on Raven's lap.The two toddlers just watched how the creatures of the forest made its way over to them. Seeing the bees hovering about before their eyes. Gently touch Aymer and Meria's hands as the two giggled. The wood shavings began to combines into dolls for the two.

"Go on and play. I'll need to talk to your dads."

"Okay, grandpa!" The toddlers went away while Raven turned his eyes on Vylr and Orias. The pair were unsure of what to say only for Raven to hold them both.

"Give me the name of the demon and vampires. I want the names of the two who killed your wives."

"Father it's..." Raven patted their heads.

"I can't have you go out there and be consumed by revenge. You're the only parent left. I'll exact vengeance for you two. It's not cowardly. It's because you two have much to do. Besides, I wanted to meet my daughter in law. Since I can't meet her, I should greet her family in my own way." Raven said as he let them go. Turning to Aurae who held a map for the demon empire and vampire kingdom.

"My Claws." The Claws knelt before Raven.

"We'll need to make some preparations... We'll be heading to the vampire kingdom. I need to greet my in-laws."

"Yes, One Who Rips."
