65 - Harpy Kingdom (Part 2)

The asura was finally forced to dive out of the way of a sharp ice spike as another ranged attack ricocheted off the thirty foot perimeter, the ground freezing at the touch of the embedded Spike. "That absolute domain is pretty gnarly to circumnavigate," Tempest shouted as her [Devouring Crunch] suddenly veered off target. The roc harpy started to flap its wings rapidly, a dust storm whipped up with the three of them and the asura at the center. The sand tornado began cutting their skin as sharp debris whirled and whirled, the group having to close their eyes to prevent themselves from partial blindness. [Air Slicer] Skadi threw out a large sharp crescent moon of wind that dispersed the tornado that was luckily right on target to the giant harpy, but again at the thirty foot perimeter the wind suddenly dispersed. "We need to ground this bird, I have an idea," Soren shouted. He poured quite a bit of his mana into this small dark sphere, the sphere began pulsating as if alive. It would grow in size, then get compressed, grow in size, then get compressed and would repeat this cycle tens of times. The four of them had to constantly dodge wind and sand magic from the harpy while he was prepping this spell. The only reason Soren could not cast it instantly was because he was pouring much more mana into than normal. Huge pillars of sound would erupt when one of the four people would dodged an attack from the harpy. After several seconds Soren finally had the pulsating purple mass ready and threw it underneath the harpy, it floated only a foot above the sand but increased from tangerine sized to the size of a watermelon. The moment it expanded a the large harpy was yanked towards the mass [Black Hole], the harpy was having significant difficulty staying aloft. Using the most of the opportunity, Soren [Blink Strike] and [Gravity-Body Augment] to deal massive damage quickly and while the harpy was unable to see him and teleported inside that domain, he was immediately thrown out before he could even make any contact. While the harpy was being pulled toward the pulsating ball of gravity a golden open palm struck the monster behind the neck driving it into the sand and directly on top of the ball of gravity. The harpy screeched in pain, Tempest and Skadi had their feet drag backwards through the sand a few feet by the strength of the harpy's voice. The harpy tried flying away but could not get more than a few feet off the ground, some of its skin coming off from the force of Soren's magic. 'What happened? Why did that attack hit all of a sudden..," thought Soren. Then it clicked, he had to accomplish two things. First, his gravity ball wouldn't last much longer and had to pin down the monster, then do enough damage to it where it would die. Soren again began casting a spell and instead of it instantly casting like he normally does, he had to reconstruct the shape of what he wanted his magic to do, but this allowed him to create a new spell all together. Shadow magic: [Chain Skewer] shadowy chains with followed a spear tip as several came out from the shadow of the large harpy and stabbed through its body now pinning it to the floor. The harpy struggled hard to break free of the chains impaling its body, but now that it was night time the shadow magic increased in strength. The artificially created full moon illuminated the harpy's body making its shadow more than visible. 'What can I do in this situation," Tempest thought, "Can I...wait why does my body feel weird. What is this berserk energy? Is that a full moon? What the fu..." Tempests cloths started to tear as her body started to grow to its full twelve feet in height, black and silver fur sprouted all over her body, her fingers became claws, wolf ears became visible on the top of her head, a brushy tail visible as it grew outwards. "AWWOOOOOOOOOO," [Invigorating Howl] everyone was bolstered but it also became a bit more dangerous since this was a forced transformation. Tempest went wild and launched herself at the harpy, but every time she got within striking distance or biting distance an invisible force would deflect her body outside the thirty foot mark. That didn't stop her, she activated [Blood Frenzy] and [Armor of Hermes], she was utilizing all her bestial spells too and was continually charging in a rage trying to tear the harpy apart. "You have to use something intangible to get through the absolute domain, something without matter," shouted Soren. That sparked everyone to gear their abilities, [Permafrost] Skadi began to plummet the ambient temperature inside the area domain; the breath of the harpy became visible, its movements slowed down, frost started to accumulate on all its feathers, and its skin began to crack and blood started to seep out only to freeze moments later. Tempest still in a berserk state did something she had never done before, she roared loudly Lunar magic: [Moonbeam] a fierce beam of light blasted from the moon scorching the harpy, the burn being incredibly worse due to the radical temperature difference of the moonbeam while it was affected by the permafrost magic. The roc harpy no longer had the strength to move, the gravity ball was gone but the shadow chains held it in place. Two giant golden fists with interlaced fingers came down on the roc harpy's head, an enormous column of sand blew into the sky. When the dust settled, the harpy lay on the ground its head pulverized. Each member of the party received different notifications as the dungeon presented a chest in the center of the room, but before they were able to reap their rewards they had one other thing they needed to deal with, Tempest was still in her berserk state. Skadi was already on top of the situation and had been preparing something to help. [Prison] a large cage made out her strongest ice dropped on top of Tempest and the floor of the cage quickly froze over. Skadii had been preparing it for so long that even Tempest's strong claws were not able to chip away at the ice. Soren and Skadi plopped down tired. While they were waiting for Tempest, Soren quickly grabbed all the items in the chest and stores it in his spatial storage. The dungeon space warps and they all find themselves outside the dungeon, the door to the dungeon closed and lost color as the dungeon went into a cooldown period. Now that they were outside of the dungeon Tempest was able to revert back to human form. Soren handed her additional clothes he had stored for her from his inventory since all of hers teared. Now that they had a moments respite they all looked at their statuses.

[Reciprocated Helper has been activated] Just as they were finishing checking out their statuses the asura came up to them and bowed deeply, "My name is Avrow, I want to thank you for saving me. I had done something foolish and was about to pay for it with my life if you had not come to my aid. I owe you a life debt. Do not take my words lightly."

The three of them looked puzzled when Soren responded, "A life debt? I am unfamiliar with that term what do you mean?"

"It means that my life is now yours. Whether I live or die is now up to you, that is my code." Avrow got down on one knee placed one hand on his forehead, one on his heart, a fist on his stomach right below the naval, and the he held out for Soren to grab. Before grabbing the asura's hand Soren asked, "What did you do that was foolish and why?" Depending on his answer he felt that maybe it was not good to have a renegade like this with him.

"That is a fair question. I stole some things from my sect that are held in high regard. I relentlessly pursue strength and the things I stole would help me immensely, but when I came here to hide I found this harpy egg that holds a divine bloodline. I thought if I could tame it or present it to my sect, they could rear it up to be a protective guardian and forgive my previous transgression." He finished while not moving his hand still held firmly in place for him to accept his offer.

A screen popped up in front of Soren.

Soren looked at the monk that held like a statue and upon grabbing his outstretched hand the markings of a phoenix in silver ink form over his chest.

"What...is this," asked Avrow utterly confused.
