58- Soren vs Skadi

58- Soren vs Skadi

Soren and Skadi faced off against each other, neither wanting to make the first move, Skadi took a deep breath and exhaled controlling the rate at which her power leaked out. Soren stood waiting when he happened to glance down at his legs and noticed that they had been frozen to the floor. Skadi leapt at him the moment he broke eye contact with her, Soren quickly melt the ice with fire magic in time to block the incoming blow, which was cold, cold down to his very bones. He would have to augment his arms with fire or would constantly take ice damage and he wanted to prevent that. He coated his arms in flame and began to exchange blows with Skadi. They were tit-for-tat during their hand-to-hand combat exchange, neither one could get a an overwhelming advantage on the other. Soren was a disadvantage, he was unable to use his hellfire because it being tied to his particular race and did not want to be targeted. Instead he focused on getting better acquainted with some of his newer skills [Thousand Phantom Foot] {whoosh} Soren vanished and delivered a few solid hits on Skadi before reappearing. "Two can play at this game," Skadi rebutted [White out]. The entire platform was covered in an icy fog so thick it was blocking what was happening from view. The experience inside the fog was all together different, everything for Soren became sluggish, even if he augmented himself with some fire magic his movements were considerably slower. 'Not only are my movements slower I can't my [Dragon Sense] ability seems to not be working. Does this cloud prevent detection magic and hinder senses,' analyzed Soren. Just as Soren finished his thought process a heavy fist came out from no where and connected into the side of his jaw launching him towards the outer side of the platform. He managed to steady himself before being sent out of bounds, and coming up with something he thought would work, laid on the ground facing upward and using [Sonic Shockwave] blasted the icy fog upward into the air where it dispersed. Soren stood and stared at Skadi, "That wasn't bad, shall we continue?"

Skadi was using everything she had in her arsenal; [Fleeting Foot] a movement spell, [Gale Wind] a torrent of air to send Soren flying out of the ring that he steadily avoided, [Twister] which she spun around at breaking speeds creating a suction that would force Soren into her fists. Soren manage to either dodge or break out of all of it, and it frustrated her, frustrated her to her very core until something inside her just snapped.

An incredible swirling vortex wrapped around Skadi, a vortex several times faster and stronger than any of the other wind magic she had produced prior to this moment engulfed her. Soren's [Dragon Sense] ability alerted him to stay his ground so he waited for only a minute before the wind died back down, but he could innately sense something was different with Skadi.

From the moment Skadi recieved that message in head a violent maelstrom kicked up around her and a significant amount of notifications went off.

<[Artic Combat] has been fused with innate ability Icy Touch>

<[Frostbite] evolved to [Permafrost]>

<[Weapon Augmentation] replaced with [Air Slicer]>

<[White Out] has evolved to [Glaciate]>

Cryomancy - All ice related abilities have been upgraded to ice that sits at absolute zero. This ice will not melt, is capable of freezing fire and fire magic of lesser strength. Unique fires will melt this ice.

Glaciate - Freezes magic of lower tier preventing use

"hahahaha let's roll with this," Skadi elated. [Glaciate] and like before the platform was covered in a white fog, 'This may look like the same technique but its different, its denser and significantly more powerful,' thought Soren. He glanced down and noticed his arms were starting to cake with ice so he tried to use fire magic but he was unable to. He tried all his magic and none of it would work except his gravity and his black lightning. He was also incapable of blowing it away as effectively because of how much denser the magic now was, while he was figuring these things out he had to quickly block a heavy blow from Skadi barely being able to rally his defense in time. The part of his arm that blocked the blow immediately began to freeze so he used the black lightning to shatter the ice and stop its accumulation before it became too big of a problem. The spectators were in awe, they too knew something was different and even though they could not see much, they could see black lightning lighting up the mist and could feel the heavy mana on the platform.

"They are C ranked adventurers?" Questioned guild member in the stands, and many of them looked between each other, a lot of them with looks of disbelief on their faces. [Zakir] A large black bolt of lightning came zipping across the platform at Skadi, [Aegis] raising her arm an incredibly deep sapphire blue block of ice erupted out of the ground blocking the bolt of lightning, but the ice crumbled to the ground. 'It completely stopped the bolt of lightning, but that lightning is far more powerful than normal. I'll have to run experiments on [Aegis]'s durability at a later time,' thought Skadi. Black lightning crackled from Soren's hands as two whips materialized. Skadi similarly made bucklers on the back of each of her hands out of ice, {whoosh} the whip soared through the air and thunder resounded and {crash} the lightning landed as if it were coming from the sky, blocked by the bucklers on her hand, though it almost split in two. She was able to give it a steady supply of magic to repair it as quickly as it got damaged and now using those shields to fend off the lightning whips. The fight dragged on and on for more than twenty minutes with no clear winner. Soren retreated to a safe part of the platform and raised his hand, "I concede," Soren announced. The crowd was in an uproar they had never seen such a powerful fight, nor did they expect one from the C block. The other guilds were fuming that Twilight Dragon, the guild at the bottom had such outstanding talents. The guilds were not the only one's in a foul mood, Skadi was also furious.

<[Lightning Whip] lvl up>

Skadi had received a few messages of similar context.

<[Adamantine Onslaught] - You magically harden your body to be nearly unbreakable as you rush forward with incredible speed to smash into opponents.>

"You assured me you wouldn't hold back," Skadi said through clenched teeth.

"I can't use some of my powers because they are directly tied to devil's and I don't want a bounty on my head."

"We'll settle this later."

"As you wish, though I have to say your ice has gotten significantly more powerful I am impressed by your strength you've grown, and you've always been strong."

"Fool, I am not going to get happy just cause you compliment me."

Her mood had significantly improved after the brief conversation during the announcement proclaiming the winner of Block C and awarding Skadi the prize money.

Later that night as they were walking through the city a certain woman was walking through the streets with a long red blade drawn, the empty streets lit with dull lights. The slight pitter patter of rain doused the cobblestones as a dull scraping noise rang out as the red blade dragged across the ground. Soren, Skadi, and Tempest were out late celebrating their accomplishments before running into a woman who was wearing red leather and dragging a red bladed sword with a black hilt. Her black boots walked down the cobblestone road with a clik clat, clik clat, clik clat. The three were immediately on guard as they could clearly see the deranged look in her eyes. 'Who is this woman? Why do I feel this intense bloodlust around her?' These thoughts were going through Soren's head before he had a chance to use his ability to identify her. [Inspect]

Race: Beastman (Tazmanian Devil)

Class: Sword God

Anabelle was definitely the human looking kind of beastman as opposed to the majority beast type. The thing he noticed above all else though was she was the 'Sword God' class. This is someone he would definitely have to kill or subjugate completely.

WARNING: Incapable of Winning

Emergency Quest: Survive!

The moment he received that quest he voiced a warning to his friends but strangely his vision became inverted. As he began to wonder why he saw his body hit the floor, his head rolled over in time for him to see Anabelle behind him blood dripping off her blade.
