09-Midngiht Nerium

09-Midngiht Nerium

Soren wanted to head towards Illyria to stock up on some things before traversing through the jungle he had heard about.

I guess I should count myself lucky I grew up in the woods my whole life, otherwise I would be lost right now trying to determine which way was east. Moss usually grows on the east side of rocks and trees to get early morning sunshine so its not too difficult to figure out cardinal directions.

Not being in a rush, Soren was traveling at a casual pace taking in the sights, since he was walking quite a ways his mind started to wander.

How did I get so far from my starting point? Did they just take my soul and implant it into a fairy close by or something?

There was nothing eventful that transpired the first night of his travel; he built a fire, cooked some snake meat, and laid out under the stars.

I always dreamt about being able to do this, but with the forest as unsafe as it was and my past self not being the strongest I just wouldn't of survived. That's changed though, I am going to ride this system to the top just wait and see.

Soren's final thoughts before drifting off into slumber.

The next day was far more eventful and would distract Soren from his original goal. Soren could blame it on his innately good nature but he would rather blame it on his current evolution, which seems dead set on helping every poor soul it encounters. The only bonus to this would be the reciprocate helper ability where he can almost get anything he asks for. For once, he wanted to get from point A to point B without all the trouble in between and todays trouble is named Flora. Soren had just finished eating his morning breakfast and dousing the fire used to cook it when he could see, rising from above the tree line, smoke. This was not normal colored smoke either; normal colored smoke falls into two categories: black smoke usually from a high concentration of oils or accelerants or white smoke from wood, paper, etc. The smoke that could be seen for miles rising above the trees was a deep shade of purple. The urge to be a good samaritan was building inside Soren and before a conscious thought to resist said urge emerged, he was off in the direction of the smoke. Quickly scaling a large nearby tree he started to travel through the woods by jumping on close connecting branches. This mode of travel was only slightly more difficult for him, but it also kept him out of sight and gave him a better vantage point, so he thought the benefits significantly outweighed the detriments of having to move a little slower. He sped up his pace looking for the cause of the purple smoke, and soon found what he had been looking for. There was humanoid creature, who appeared to be stuck in a tree, and another person in a hooded black robe and etched into the back of the robe was the symbol of a circle made in vines that has a giant droplet drip from the top of the circle in a dark neon green.

If I didn't know any better, I would think that green could glow in the dark

He stood up top the branch and waited, watching to see what would happen and how he'd need to intervene. The robed person was chanting in a strange language he did not understand while the creature inside the tree writhed in agony sending out a shriek so shrill it almost made your ears bleed.

Ah so that's what's going on, maybe I can kill this magician type person before he discovers I am here. [reflux]

His whole body was running with sparks of electricity, [lightning spear] he gripped the handle of the spear now made out of solid lightning. He crouched down, focused his power into his legs as he launched himself straight at the sorcerer. {crnncch} The noise that came off the tree was not loud, however it was enough to draw the attention of the sorcerer, but with both the suddenness and speed at which Soren was traveling it made no difference the sorcerer was unable to avoid the blow. The spear went right the chest of the sorcerer and Soren ended up head butting the man causing him to fly past the tree and the spear dissipated.

The dyrad pleaded as she shouted, "Help me please!!" "What do you need me to do? I can use restoration or some minor healing? replied Soren

"No, that wont help me now, the mutation process is already too far along. I need to completely go over to this new form. Go find me a Midnight Nerium, that should speed up the transformation process and balance out the conflicting poisons in my system. Look for a flower that's a shade darker than this smoke with green dots all over it, just be careful to not touch it, deadly poisonous."

Soren nodded his understanding and took off at a sprint. He was using his inspect skill as quickly as he could trying to locate the midnight nerium.

He didn't even bother to read the notification as he was frantically looking to help the dryad. He had finally reached a giant rock face and he noticed on the top part of the rock was the midnight nerium.

'Everything around the rock looks dead, the grass, the moss on the rock itself, even fallen pine needles look to be affected by this flower. Just how poisonous is this thing?' Soren thought as he worried about transportation of this material.

Soren looked around to try to find anything he could in order to get the flower down from that rock and to do it without being able to touch anything around him. He could not afford to use magic and potentially damaging the flower. He found a semi sharp rock on the ground and began to sharpen as quickly as he could, he felt he could accomplish the task after about five minutes of sharpening.

Soren decided to open up the bag he'd been carrying that was made of the iron hide serpent he killed not long ago and took out the really long piece and cut it into two pieces, one that was to be used like a glove, while the other was used to walk on the dead patches of grass and onto the rock to collect the thing.

I'm dying, I've literally been running around in the forest and just when I managed to score myself some rare leathers to improve my armor, I had to get them contaminated by this super crazy poison. Just my luck.

Soren laid out the portion of the hide on the ground and onto the rock, {hisss} the skin started to sizzle a little bit but it seemed to hold. Walking out onto the skin Soren was constantly checking his status but seemed to be fine. With the bagged hand he grabbed the stem of the flower and cut it with the sharpish rock he had made. He rushed back to the dryad being extra diligent to not have the poisonous flower touch anywhere on his actual body.
