A jolt shot through Kakarot's senses and he froze. For a moment, he felt the power of his wife's foe multiply rapidly. A second later his wife's Ki vanished and Cooler's shrank back down to relatively normal levels. Terror and helplessness filled his heart as his mind naturally assumed the worst…
"Kakarot, move you damn idiot! Gah!" Turles's voice rang out through the air just a second before he shoulder tackled the younger saiyan to the side. Kakarot was startled from his daze just in time to watch in horror as the death beam that was meant for him pierced his fellow saiyan's lung.
"Turles NO!" Kakarot yelled. He looked up at Frieza but all he saw was red. "My wife.. My friends.. What have I.." His voice cracked. "No.. this was you! I'll never forgive you Friezaaaa" The man yelled, launching himself upward at the tyrant.
He could sense that Nappa had rushed to Turles's side and removed him from the immediate vicinity so he wouldn't have to hold back. As he neared Frieza the tyrant crouched slightly.
Time slowed before Kakarot's unseeing eyes. It occurred to him that Frieza would likely kill him before he even finished his ultimate attack. Nevertheless he had to put everything he had into his attack, completely abandoning self preservation. He had to stoop to this last ditch effort. Because if he didn't, who would? Kakarot reared his fist back which began to shine a bright golden color.
As he neared the Arcrosian emperor, he saw his opponent lurch forward. He saw the ivory fist that would end his life slicing through the air at incalculable speeds that he simply could not react to, even if he wasn't giving everything he had to offense. His eyes narrowed. 'Even if it cost me my life!'
"Final Saturday!" Raditz's voice rang out as a potent beam of energy crashed into Frieza. It wasn't powerful enough to damage him in the slightest, but having been caught completely off guard it was enough to knock him off balance. His eyes widened as he looked up just in time to meet Kakarot's gaze. For whatever reason, in that moment.. Frieza somehow saw his life being forever intertwined with this inferior being's. As if their destiny had always been to clash in this fatal battle, one way or another.
"Dragon Fist!
In a spectacular explosion of golden light, a celestial dragon that looked remarkably like Shenron burst to life around the saiyan's fist.
The head of the dragon slammed itself into the Tyrant's gut as it's body wrapped tightly around the lizard man several times. Kakarot and his opponent flew upward through the air until they were close to Cold's position.
The Arcrosian patriarch uncrossed his arms, shouting in annoyance, "What is the meaning of this impudence!? You bastard I'll-…" He yelled furiously but was cut off as the saiyan yelled, "Ka-me-ha-me-Fusion!"
Kakarot's entire body began to glow a concerning azure color before he detonated in a massive explosion that rocked the planet to its core.
Kakarot flew through the air as the force of his own blast carried him away from the impact sight. He was sure he would be blown a mile away when he suddenly slammed into the large chest of his older brother.
"Gotcha! Easy there, big guy." The long haired saiyan said, steadying his damaged brother. He looked over towards the smoking mushroom cloud created by his little brother's recjless attack. "Will that be enough..?" He asked with narrowed eyes.
"No.." Kakarot said honestly, before smirking. "But it gave Vegeta plenty of time to finish powering up.." As if to reiterate his point the two of them heard the prince yell out a moment later, "Finaaaal Flash!" A sapphire beam of spiraling energy spewed forth at the speed of light.
As it traveled the beam made a high pitched laser-like noise before colliding with the mushroom cloud. The resulting explosion shook the planet for several minutes once more, and many of the resistance members feared the amount of damage the planet was most certainly sustaining.. But they had no choice. This was their best if not their final shot.
Nappa, Raditz, Vegeta and a badly damaged Kakarot surrounded the wounded Turles, who was struggling to breath and bleeding profusely. Every time the saiyan warrior tried to suck in a breath a spurt of blood would gush out of his back with a disgusting, wet squelching sound.
He cried out in pain and collapsed after trying to push himself up on trembling arms.
"Jesus.. What the hell do we do?" Nappa asked. He turned to Vegeta. "Magnificent attack kid. If nothing else that bastard and his father are in serious pain after that one." He praised, earning a grunt of agreement from the others, sans Turles.
Vegeta nodded grimly. Any other time he would beamed at the flattery but circumstances were dire.
"Thank God Kakarot's blasted Earth woman gave me one of these for us saiyans." Vegeta said stone faced as he pulled a Senzsu out from his breastplate. The other saiyans stared at him in shock. Vegeta noticed their lingering gazes and frowned.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
"What?" He asked incredulously. "I foresaw my energy would be severely depleted after using my new ability, even though it's never really been tested." He said, crossing his arms. "She agreed to split the three remaining beans among the three groups. We have one, the Earthlings fighting Frieza's men have another and your wife has the last one." Vegeta finished looking at Kakarot.
The three saiyans began clamoring in the prince's face about how he was a hero and how he literally just saved Turles's life causing the man to turn beat red. He ran his hand through his widow's peak and shook his head.
"Knock it off you idiots! Shut up and give him the stupid bean before I take it myself." He ordered. The others chuckled and were just about to comply when they heard someone yell out from behind them.
"Wait you guys!"
The group turned in shock. "Dende!?" Kakarot yelled. "What are you doing here?" As the boy reached them he bent over his knees, huffing and puffing. He dropped to the ground beside Turles and began healing him as he looked up into the surprised faces of the others and began explaining.
"I felt the damage being done to the planet.." He began, pausing briefly. "I also sensed the battle.. I couldn't sit back and do nothing. Not when the Guru gave me powers like these that will allow me to help!" He finished.
"That explains a few things." Nappa grumbled, mostly wishing that Dende had this ability sooner. They may not have necessarily needed to permanently lose their tails…
"T-Thanks.." Trules coughed out, sitting up. Dende smiled and nodded. He was panting slightly but that was just as likely caused by not having recovered from his trip over. "No problem!" He said happily.
Raditz frowned. "Listen.. as much as we appreciate the help, and we really do. You should restore Vegeta and Kakarot and then go hide. If Frieza sees you we won't be able to save you from him and he will kill you." The man reasoned.
Dende's eyes widened slightly in fear but it quickly gave way to determination before he set about his task. The talented boy made quick work of Vegeta's fatigue and Kakarot's wounds. He brushed his hands together and sucked in a breath. "Right. All done."
"Thanks again little buddy." Turles said gratefully. Dende nodded in response. "Bulma instructed me to leave with my people on the ship but.. You're my people too!" He said sincerely. The saiyans smiled at the young boy with respect and adoration.
"Gokuuu! Watch out!..."
*BOOM!*
With the Z-warriors ten minutes earlier…
Vegeta's attack produced the largest explosion thus far throughout the battle. The Earthlings, though relatively far away, still weren't prepared for the raw wave of concussive force that traveled halfway around the world, disrupting their battles and forcing them to brace themselves.
As Krillin recovered he looked around frantically, trying his best to analyze the battlefield amidst all the chaos. He breathed a sigh of relief when he confirmed that all the Z-warriors were alive for now. His relief gave way to a concerning frown as he took note of the fact that his team was being pushed back together into a tight group.
He watched as several Ki blasts forced back Chi Chi, a barrage of punches and kicks damaging Yamcha. The duo of Tien and Chiaotzu managed fairly well with their telekinetic defensive abilities; However, it was clear they were running out of stamina.
Krillin had the five remaining captains working in unison to take him out of the fight, as they had since learned that he was the resistance's de facto leader.
The five Earthlings were practically back to back and Krillin grit his teeth.
"Krillin! Summon the saibamen!" He heard Piccolo yell through his watch. The bald monk's eyes widened. "Oh yeah! I was so caught up trying to survive against these guys that I completely forgot about them!" He laughed, pulling out a capsule from his belt.
He clicked a button and threw the small device which exploded ina puff of pink smoke mid-air. Not only were these the enhanced variety that Bulma had made far stronger than before, but since they were biological lifeforms of relatively low power, Dende had also managed to unlock their true potential. Each of their six power levels was near 50 thousand.
The sudden appearance of the six freaky beings surprised the five captains and their army, causing the to fall back in panic. This allowed the Z-warriors a moment to regroup and breathe. The Saibamen were glass cannons, extremely strong but not very sturdy at all. However, they worked perfectly for this particular instance.
"Everybody scatter!" The short monk yelled, just as the line of saibamen began to glow a bright, toxic green color. A second later they lurched forward, detonating in six consecutive blasts. Dozens of Frieza's men screamed in horror as they were caught in the explosions. To finally seal the deal each of the five humans fired off their most potent abilities into the fray, causing the radius of the six blasts to expand rapidly.
The air was flooded with the smell of melting plastic from the heat of the energy, and the smell of cooking meat from the burning soldiers. It was disgusting how it made your nose burn, your ears ring and your mouth water all at the same time.
When the smoke cleared most of the soldiers were gone, either vaporized instantly or too damaged to continue flying by their own power. The few dozen that remained and the one badly damaged captain that remained looked at the Z-warriors with dread and disbelief. "We.." The caption wheezed. "We are the most elite army in the entire universe.. How is this possible?.." He questioned, struggling to remain flying.
The Z-warriors sighed in relief, hovering close to one another as they caughr their breath. They all looked completely exhausted, and none of their bodies were unscathed. In truth, the battle came to a close just in time. They weren't sure how much longer they would have been able to keep this up….
"Reinforcements!" One of the soldiers suddenly cried. Krillin's group shared a collective gasp and looked in the direction the soldiers were pointing. Sure enough the 500 remaining members of cooler's private army were closing in fast, and it was clear the five Earthlings were their target.
The bald man quickly pulled out the lone Senzu bean they were given in case things went south. "No choice guys! We'll have to split this and make do with what we've got!" In a hurry, the five of them directed the bean into five impossibly small pieces and each ate one. Their power levels were barely a fourth of what it should have been if they were at their best.
The warriors shared a collective sigh, each looking pale and tired. Krillin desperately looked over to the saiyans only to realize that their situation was equally dire with what felt like Turles, being down and wounded. He wondered how they were going to possibly make it out of this when a ray of hope finally shone through in the form of Dende.
The Z-warriors cheered as the little Namekian healed their friends. For a second it seemed as if the tide of battle was turning.
With a renewed sense of vigor, the man prepared to order his team to charge in for one final confrontation when he noticed a bright marron energy out of the corner of his eye. He turned slightly and a look of terror and shock filled his face. He raised one shaky finger and yelled, "it's Freizaaa!"
A hundred meters away from the unsuspecting saiyans the evil tyrant stood on top of a cliff. He was missing half his tail with blood gushing from the stump. His left eye was closed tightly. The tyrant was bruised and battered, his body littered in scrapes.
It looked like he had been hit by some type of bomb. But he and his father were both very much alive. As if to reiterate this Cioler appeared from the smoke behind Frieza, looking nearly as damaged as his son. He yelled something which clearly upset Frieza further.
Even from this distance Krillin could sense the emperor's malice and anger. Before the bald monk's very eyes he watched the tyrant's power rise sharply and his body began to swell. Grotesque, veiny muscles bulged and rippled underneath Frieza's ivory skin.
He roared in effort and discomfort as his body expanded rapidly. It was as if the man couldn't contain all of his power within his body…
The monk cried out in horror as Frieza's transformation was complete. He spread his open palm slightly and launched his death ball. Krillin tried to warn his friends. Tried to scream. Unfortunately Cooler's men had arrived and were already bearing down on them. He raised one arm and shouted with all of his might.
"Gokuuu! Watch out!..."
*BOOM!*
