PROLOGUE*: The universe was a vast and curious thing. All across space there could be seen orbs of various shapes, sizes and colors. These massive orbs were commonly known as planets. Most were giant balls of fire and gas. Some were made of raw diamonds and only the core itself gave off heat. And even fewer still.. were planets that fell in what mortals called 'the habitable zone'. Within these zones life would form and evolve. With the emergence of new life across the universe came conflict; good and evil, wrong and right. Mortals have waged war since the dawn of time. On themselves.. on each other.. countless would die in the name of war; however, always one thing remained constant.. good and evil have always remained balanced. It was the one true law of the universe. Until now....
*Swish*
A dark shadow fell across a desolate, brown planet. The shadow had red eyes and dark scaly wings. Smoke billowed all around the figure as it grew in size, dwarfing the planet itself. The red eyes pulsed. "SPEAK YOUR WISH..... AND IT SHALL BE GRANTED." the large figure bellowed. A cloaked silhouette flew close to the dark dragon. His voice was low and gravelly. "Hear me dragon god.." he all but muttered. "Take what is left of my dying essence and sprinkle it all across space and time. From within... I shall become the one true GOD.." the cloaked man began coughing raggedly as he spoke, showing his heath was indeed unwell. The dark shadow glared ominously before it raised its head and said but one thing, "YOUR WISH.... HAS BEEN GRANTEEEED. FAREWELL." As the deal was finished the dark shadow split into 7 colossal orbs each blasting off in its own direction through space. The vast infinity of space grew just a little bit darker..
*Chapter one: my destiny is my own*
A saiyan spaceship crashed down in a secluded forest somewhere far off in the mountains. Not a soul was present for miles. No one witnessed this spectacle. Well… Almost no one...
Gohan Son was a simple, humble old man. As luck would have it he lived a peaceful life in the very same forest where the young Kakarot would land. To that end it was he who saw Kakarot's ship in the sky that day, and it was he who rescued the boy from the wreckage once the ship crashed.
Gohan did the only logical thing he could think of, and so Kakarot was brought to the great Master Roshi, who in turn used his kindness and wisdom to help raise the boy along with Gohan. Roshi was Gohan's sensei and closest friend. He trusted him more than anyone else in the world.
Kakarot was a wild boy at first. It took many years for Gohan and Roshi to calm the raging heart within him. They taught him to control and harness his emotions. To have empathy for all life and to stand up for the weak.
Kakarot made many friends during his adventures, and saved the world numerous times. It was the love of his friends that helped him conquer his demons and become the hero he was. In time Kakarot's heart grew pure.
The saiyan man came to realize that with a pure heart comes inner peace and with inner peace one finds true happiness. There were tragic losses.. but he met hundreds of wonderful people and with the help of the dragon balls Kakarot and his friends always managed to make things right. He made a vow to become so powerful his precious people could never be hurt again..
In what would without a doubt be the greatest trial of his entire young life Kakarot was tasked with the unfair burden of putting an end to the rampaging demon King Piccolo.
Once Kakarot had managed to best The Demon King, the boy was even trained by the guardian of Earth himself; Kami. Indeed Kakarot's young life had been filled with many mysteries and adventures.. As he grew into his young adult years he began to travel less and spend more time training and building memories with his friends. He had seen all this planet really had to offer and was content to settle down soon…
Though he continued to train harder and harder with every passing day, he also chose to start a family. Bulma briefs, Kakarot's life-long friend would find herself becoming Kakarot's lover and one day his wife as well. Together they (or rather Bulma) gave birth to their baby boy, Gohan. And for 4 long years there was peace… Until now.
*present day*
"Kakarooooot. Hey, Kakarot!" A young female called out. Silence was the only thing she received in response. "Where is that blasted man of mine?" The woman shook her head and made her way to the exit of the large cozy house in which she resided. She opened the front door and stepped into the afternoon sun. She took in a deep relaxing breath, smiling as her face was bathed in the warm radiation of the Earth's yellow star.
The air was crisp and clean. One might say it had a refreshing quality about it. A gentle breeze blew through a dense, green forest roughly 100 yards from the woman's home. Between the woods and the house was a well-plowed garden and a wood cutting block. Beside the indiscriminate block rested a pile of neatly chopped logs, ants dancing across the surface of the wood.
The woman took a step forward and frowned, shifting her weight and placing her hands on her waist. "My patience is running thin." She huffed, before cupping her hands on either side of her mouth. Her blue bangs nearly choked her as she sucked down air. "KAKA-ROOOOOOOOOT!?" She bellowed once more. There was a *zip* and a *whoosh* before all at once a happy voice called out beside her. "Hey Bulma, sorry I'm late!"
The young woman apparently known as 'Bulma' yelped while leaping nearly 5 feet through the air.
"Eep!!"
She fixed Kakarot with a hard stare. "Damn it Kakarot. What have I said about scaring the shit out of me? It's detrimental to your health, you know?" She growled as the man in front of her grinned and scratched his head sheepishly.
Kakarot stepped forward, dwarfing the young woman in front of him by six full inches. He grabbed her waist and pulled her close. "Let me make it up to you." He whispered. He bent down and kissed her. And in a burst of wind they were flying through the air. "Oh! God Kakarot no! I wasn't readyyyy!" Bulma screamed, eyes widening both in part due to the sudden display of intimacy and the feeling of abruptly being flown off her feet.
The blue haired woman found herself in Kakarot's strong arms flying nearly a mile above the planet's surface and she'd be doing nothing less than holding on to the tall, dark, handsome man for dear life. They could both fly of course, but not nearly as fast as her alien boyfriend could. It would be like trying to jump off of a moving bicycle while continuing to run.
15 long years it had been since she found the then, 7 year old Kakarot training in the mountains. She herself had just turned 12. He told her of tales about his home world and how it had been destroyed by an evil emperor named Frieza. She would come to learn how his grandfather had found him proceeding to name him Goku, and how when Goku turned 5 his grandfather told him the truth of his legacy and who he was. He did so by showing Kakarot the ship in which he arrived.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
The ship had all the information gathered by the Saiyan race, from their origins on Sadala to their destruction at the hands of the evil tyrant.
For eons the saiyans were largely like the human people of Earth. However, at some point in time there was an evolutionary branch which resulted in what would become the ancestors of modern saiyans. Many speculated that the phenomenon that served as the catalyst to humans becoming saiyans was the sudden awakening of the first ever super saiyan/ super saiyan God, but historians could never really come to an agreement.
After decades of civil war between the two species the planet was left in ruins. Only the pureblood saiyans remained, as their tails gave them a distinct advantage during a full moon. Of course no one knew this at first, full moons were an incredibly rare event on Sadala. Appearing in the late years of the war for planet Sadala, it took only one, bloody night after the first full moon to end the decades of conflict.
Prior to that, none understood the true terror of the mighty saiyans. Originally, saiyans were made infamous for their ability to grow stronger rapidly not only during battle but after being brought back from near death.
This presented a problem in some regards but for the most part the half-bloods and humans had superior numbers and technology, leaving the war in a bitter stalemate for years.
The arrival of the first ever full moon made it obvious the saiyans superior instincts for battle was not what truly made them monster. The Great Ape form multiplied a Saiyan’s power by ten fold under the influence of blutz waves. The Saiyan’s were born to concur.
As a boy, Kakarot studied his species with vigor. The Saiyans were a band of proud and mighty warriors. They went from world to world purging it of all life in order for the tyrannical Frieza to add it to his empire.. That was, until the fateful day he decided to betray the saiyans, bringing an end to their once proud race in one mass genocide.
Kakarot didn't know why Frieza did what he did. Maybe he had his reasons. He supposed he may never know. It really hurt in a sense that he would never understand that part of himself, not truly, but at the same time it was hard to miss people you never knew. Beyond that.. It seemed like saiyans weren't exactly the kind of people he would want to meet.
Their moral compasses and his seemed to point in opposite directions. He hoped that saiyans only conquered planets and did bad things because they were forced to by Frieza but by and large their tendencies for violence as a whole did not leave him feeling optimistic.
Surely some saiyans had to have been good people. All he knew was that his father had managed to warn a small handful of Saiyans as well as assure his sons would be far away from the blast. Where the rest of his race were now... Only the depths of space could tell.
Like most saiyans, Kakarot was a savage and wild thing growing up, something his grandfather attributed to his alien DNA.
It seemed to help a lot when Gohan removed the boy's tail upon learning what happens to saiyans who bear witness to a full moon. This information was especially alarming as Earth's next full moon was merely one fortnight before Gohan had made the discovery!
Kakarot had been acting particularly unruly and Gohan sought to see if the Saiyan archives could help. Thank Kami he had.
Even after having his tail removed the boy had a lust for fighting and an unusual amount of power that just seemed to never stop growing. It was a long and painful process learning to control his emotions and growing strength. Kakarot studied under the greatest masters on the planet and even the planet's guardian itself; Kami. They taught him to be righteous and kind. They taught him to clear his mind and control his less pure urges, and to always do what was right.
Kakarot vowed to always protect the innocent and weak. It was rough going at first, having to resist taking the easy way and annihilating his enemies.
But in time.. Kakarot became a hero, saving the earth multiple times over. Bulma introduced him to the mysterious powers of the dragon balls upon the death of his dear friend eight-er. Eight-er was an Android whom loved and cherished life, despite having been constructed for the contrary.
Kakarot had destroyed evil armies and even ancient demons, one of which, coincidentally originated from Kami himself.
In the beginning, Katas came to Earth alone in a crusade attempting to spread peace throughout the universe. The Namekian then split to form Kami and the evil half of himself, King Piccolo which Kami had expelled in order to become worthy of the title 'guardian of Earth.'
The evil King Piccolo was sealed for many, many years at the great sacrifice of Master Roshi's mentor, Mutaito. Unfortunately the terrible demon was freed by an absolute tool of a fool named pilaf who Piccolo then manipulated into using the dragon balls to grant him eternal youth and strength. After regaining his youth Piccolo realized he could create full clones of himself without suffering such a severe drain on his life force as he had in years past.
This in turn eventually led to five evil Piccolos attempting to overthrow each of Earth's five continents [Disclosure: Author's personal AU/ Non-canon] Even Kakarot could not win. Not without sacrificing the Earth itself.. In a desperate bid to save humanity the Red Ribbon army, which was the very same evil army that Kakarot had crushed as a child a few years prior, pleaded for the Z warriors to join forces with them.
The resources and brilliant minds of the briefs family were made fully available to the genius behind the military's weapons of war; Dr. Gero. While the briefs were brilliant in their own right, they preferred to produce technology that benefited humanity and the planet as a whole so by and large the project was left to Gero.
In a strange turn of events none other than Kakarot himself came to discover that he had a love for learning. Science and math specifically were two subjects he absorbed like a sponge. He and Gero spent many late nights experimenting with various technology and Kakarot's Saiyan DNA. Whereas originally Gero's intentions were admittedly dastardly and self-serving, the man grew fond of the boy from another world and even found a great sense of purpose in helping the world rather than trying to destroy it.
One night the old man had fallen to his knees, tears pouring from his eyes and confessed his sins when Kakarot had mentioned that Gero was like a second grandfather to him. The loss of his late wife and son had caused him to do many terrible deeds throughout his life in order to create the perfect life form and bring them back but he had since seen the error of his ways and that was all Kakarot ever asked.
A few days later the Z warriors including: Kakarot. Roshi, Krillin, Chaizou, Tien, Yamcha, Chi Chi and Bulma were fully kitted with technology produced through a mixture of Earth science and Kakarot's alien biology. "I'm like a tiny Iron man!" Krillin yelled to the amusement of the gang. They had a small battalion of the RRA (Red Ribbon Army) to help mop up some of the piccolos' demon minions leaving the Z warriors to contend with the five piccolos. The battle was brutal and bloody.
The five piccolos used fusion to somehow merge and become One which required a combined Kamehameha from the entire group to take down and even then it barely weakened the evil king enough for Kakarot to deliver the final blow, blowing a whole through the king's abdomen with an extremely unorthodox Kamehameha/dragon fist combo.
Earth was saved with everyone who was lost having been brought back. Years passed and Earth prospered..
In the last world tournament Kakarot was forced to face the most recent evil incarnation of the demon King, known as Piccolo Jr. It had been a close battle but Kakarot had never slacked in his training, and thanks to the genius of gero providing him with combat robots to train against and the genius of his wife providing him with a gravity room, Piccolo simply couldn't win, even in his colossal form.
Kakarot very nearly killed the green being, However, the 'Goku' in Kakarot saw a light in this incarnation that was absent from the rest.. since then the Earth has enjoyed five beautiful years of peace…
