Kami's lookout.
Yamcha, his orange gi and long hair blowing in the wind, couldn't help but sigh out loud. "Tell me why we're here again? I mean shouldn't we be with goku and his brother in that new gravity room? That seems like a way faster way to raise your battle power than what we've been doing the last two months." The long haired man finished with an incredulous wave of his hands.
Tien nodded in response. "Well yes, technically you're not wrong. But that's not the point of this training, yamcha. We're here to master our spirit control. Then, when we train with Goku and Raditz we'll have much better gains overall. Work smarter, not harder."
Krillin grunted in agreement and crossed his arms, closing his eyes and nodding. "Tien's right. The more skilled as a fighter you are the higher your growth potential becomes. Not only that but we haven't fought together for years. Goku and his brother may be absolute monsters but we are not. We have to stick together. Cover each other's weaknesses and play to each other's strengths."
Yamcha smirked. "Thanks guys, I think I get it now. Our teamwork is the only way we're gonna make a meaningful difference." The man's girlfriend, the Ox princess stepped up and kissed him on the cheek. "Right. And no matter what we always trust in each other and believe in one another."
Chaizou was the last and height wise also the least to speak of the group but he more than made up for his stature in spirit and positivity. "Individually we may not be capable of much but together, we Earthlings can do anything if we put our minds to it.." He said, floating up and down with a smile.
As the group finished speaking they heard two sets of loud boisterous claps. "Bravo, bravo! It took Goku much, much longer to learn that lesson." Said Kami as he appeared seemingly from the shadows themselves. His trusted assistant Mr. Popo was close behind as always. "Now that you have all passed the first trial of your training it is time to move on to the second stage. I must warn you that, while you will most likely be unharmed, the next part of your training is.. Uncomfortable to say the least. You must confront your foes and subsequently your deepest fears. Do you understand?"
Every member of the group consented without a moment's hesitation among them. They all knew what was at stake here. They could not fail or their home may be lost forever. Not to mention countless other innocent lives in who knew how many galaxies. Many of the warriors clenched their fists and teeth in anger, feeding into a collective pool of shared ambition.
Inwardly Kami smirked. 'Do you see what you have done, Goku?.. You've gone and lit a spark in our hearts yet again.' He turned on his heels and began walking away from the group, sternly saying over his shoulder, "very well then. Come. Let us see what you Earthlings are truly made of."

The inner workings of the hyperbolic time chamber.
"Woooooow" echoed chaizou. "What is this place?" He asked. Kami was wicked to answer. "This… Is the room of spirit and time. My ancestor guarded it before I, and so too shall the next guardian after me. The room serves two functions. One, if you so wish it you may enter the chamber for a prolonged period of elongated time so to speak. In this mode 1 day in the real world is an entire year in this chamber." Kami said sagely.
The Z warriors nodded in stunned appreciation at such a marvel of science and magic but politely remained silent as the guardian of Earth continued.
"The second possible setting for this room can warp you to a distant point in time and space. You can't go very far, and you can't stay for longer than a day before the chamber must cool down for a period of time but… It shall do well for our purposes. Everyone please step on the platform in the center there." He pointed with his cane.
As they all complied he turned to his assistant. "If you would please, Mr. Popo?" Nodding the genie seemed to glide across the tile floor until he reached a series of dials and a lever. "Good luck." Wss all he said before he pushed a bunch of buttons and flipped the switch. The Z warriors disappeared in a flash of light.
Kami tapped his cane lightly in thought. 'I truly wish.. These burdens didn't have to fall on the shoulders of people so young yet again. How useless I've become. Perhaps soon.. this old guardian should retire…'
Nearly twenty years ago…
There was a bright flash of white light and the Z warriors were spit out of the HTC and into some distant place in space and time. They yelled and were all forced to fly lest they fall to their 'deaths'. It would kind of suck to fail the training before it even really began.
As the gang looked around they couldn't help but feel a great sense of misery and shock at the world around them. It was remarkably similar to the world they knew but.. Everything was in ruins. Like humanity no longer existed or something. Fallen buildings and burning debris littered the Earth as far as the eye could see.
"Heh, heh, heh…"
Suddenly a menacing voice rang out from behind them. With a collective gasp the group spun around to face their would be assailants.
"Lookie here brother… Seems like we missed a few of em after 'al."
"Hehz they don't look all that strong. How the hell did such pathetic insects survive our Great Ape assault? Never mind, it doesn't matter. Let's kill these pesky ants and get out of here. I'm starving."
Two beings with immense power descended down to the group's level and smirked at them. They were clearly saiyans if their armor was of any indication. It looked alot like Raditz's with some key differences that seemed to indicate these men were a step above him in the Hierarchy of power before he'd arrived on Earth, but not by very much.
The Z warriors formed a wall and took various stances as the enemies approached. Each of the warriors was reasonably nervous and none seemed interested in attacking first. Legitimate or not the battle of their lives was about to commence... The saiyan's rushed at the group.
'Oh crap!..' Krillin thought frightfully. Due to being the sort of de facto leader of the group when Goku wasn't around, Krillin saw it as his personal responsibility to get everyone out of this. His mind raced, honed battle spirits acting quickly to provide him with the quickest route to safety. He came to only one conclusion.
"Everyone! Kamehameha's!"
