Chapter 24: Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back

I finished reading the book today for today; I observed that the designs covering the item actually channel magic into it.  That is interesting and caused me to inspect my head accessory, which is a pair of earrings today.  As I converted the earrings back to a box, its original form, I saw that these lines are subtle.  They would serve as fairly good patterns, and would make interesting decorations if you didn't know its purpose.  Their purpose is to implant a certain object with an ability that the creator or an acquaintance can use.

I wonder if these lines have a certain order or if it is just to spread out over the entire object.  Even though I thought that, I decided to try to take away the lines to see what would happen.  As I started directing the mana away, I found that the type of magic was space magic.  It's used to store the objects inside allowing the actual object to take the outside appearance.  In essence allowing for a swap of contents, which is intriguing.

After I finished taking all the magic out of it, the items were inside it flung across my room.  To my surprise, there were hundreds of accessories inside that object.  This made me wonder if they were all in there from the start or if Ellie and mom decided something was interesting or cute and placed it in there.  Anyways, I left my room to place the pattern back onto the cube since my room is now a pit of random accessories.

Then I stealthily ran from my room and entered the magic room.  I sat down in the middle and used my own spatial magic to replicate the designs.  The process took about half an hour before I could complete it, I never noticed how hard it is to control a condensed magic and place the magic on things.

I took a break before I tried to open the space and to my surprise the space was far smaller than the previous one.  Well telling mom and Ellie that I broke the present is something I do not look forward to.  I wonder if there will be a punishment...

As I was thinking this, a small idea was being entertained by my inner curiosity.  What would happen if I added more types of magic to this device, would it allow different spells to combine, would I be able to make a flaming space?  Would I create a portable water prison, just what would happen?  I knew I would get in trouble so I might as well mess with the box.

After debating in my head for who knows how long, I'm not sure how stupid it looked with me stuck in contemplation, I entertained my curiosity.  I started to condense water magic and putting it slightly above the space magic pattern.  Even though it took a lot of effort, I was able to use the last of my magic to finish the pattern.  Since I was at the end of my ropes, I clenched the water magic into the space magic.  What followed I can't quite remember since finishing this process knocked me out because of mana depletion.

Mother's POV

"Thank you Representative Mist, shall we talk about relationships between the beastmen and the demon empire?"

"Thank you for coming, Mr. Ursus.  We will discuss how you want to move forward, even though I say that, I will remind you that you don't have the upper hand."  I gave him a rather pleasant smile.

Mr. Ursus shrunk back, but still said, "You know a lot of the terms have already been decided by the Emperors."

"Well, there are reasons it isn't final now, isn't it?"

He was at a loss for words and didn't seem to understand that the emperor hadn't been the final level of the deal.  Then he looked in horror at me and seemed to piece together the control I have.  It is always funny to see how people react to knowing the emperor doesn't have the final say.  Just as I was about to get to the subject at hand, my danger alert just went off for Ally.

I could hardly believe it considering that the amount of security around our mansion is probably superior to the castle.  Ellie hasn't even come to request for seeing the city with her.  So she was literally in the middle of a comprehensive security.  Even if I can't figure it out my body moved on, its own and I ran back to my mansion to find Ally.  It isn't possible to teleport because it seems her surrounds distorted.

Right as I was leaving I heard, "Representative Mist where are you going."  I didn't answer, and it seemed that the guard would take care of it.

As I entered the magic room where her signal was coming from I saw Ellie with an unconscious Ally in her hands.  The fact that Ellie wasn't panicking made me calm down slightly, so I asked, "She is in the middle of the mansion, so what happened?"

"Madam, it appears that her head accessory exploded.  It wasn't on her head though and her pendant protected her from the blast, but the blast knocked her out with minimal damage."

I nodded showing I understood and arrived next to Ally.  I held her head gently and said, "You are probably the most trouble prone person I will ever know. Just why and how did you create an explosion."

Her pendant is probably one of the best protective devices that currently exists.  This is because of the amount of magic from people around her funneling their magic into the pendant as we pass by her. I'm not sure if she knows that she now has level 8 monster cores forming the protective charm yet.  I thought about the situation.  Since the danger to Ally past, I inspected the scene.  There was residue of both space magic and water magic.

Ally you really did it.  It is a miracle the explosion wasn't any bigger than this considering that she tried to combine two types of magic. Most people wouldn't know about the consequences of combining different types of magics I can be thankful I am a Master Magician.

It is interesting that my space magic didn't make this explosion much bigger.  So let's be glad we got off without blowing up the entire mansion and only lost the magic room.  After I finished looking around, I noticed Ellie had taken Ally back to her room.  As I walked to her room and entered, I noticed that there were hundreds of accessories in the room.

My eyes went wide as I understood, 'she really took away my spatial enchantment'.  This explains why it was a smaller explosion, but why was she able to remove it. I thought for a while and remembered that Tina can't remove her bunny costume.  If she has that high of mana control, she could dispel weaker spell enchantments.

My husband is probably heading here, but considering he was at the border for an inspection he won't be able to get here for a couple days.  I should let him know that his daughter isn't badly injured, but has magic depletion.  As I was heading to leave the room and contact him, I saw a book on her bed.  The illusion spell must have worn off because it clearly said "Magic Items" as the title.

I looked at Ally and sighed.  She needs to learn, but it may just be her nature to tinker and investigate.  Hopefully we can teach her when to reduce her curiosity.  I felt conflicted as I remembered that she would cause me far more stress in the years to come.  I will have to get her a mentor soon or something like this will happen again.
