Chapter 15.5: Mother's Perspective

It will sound strange coming from me, but I wasn't expecting my daughter to be a chaos child.  My position in the Empire is as the Hidden Guards' Captain, which is the highest position you can get aside from the Emperor.  I can deploy everybody in the empire, and in times of war I am the one who would decide.  I guess the top of the Empire is stable, but anything below a duke ranking tries to scramble and get leverage to stay afloat.  This has caused me to have to wipe clean a few unsavory individuals, but even though I like this job I like observing my daughter as she grows up more.

I got here mostly because I opposed my father at every turn; he was persistent in trying to marry me to another family to form connections.  In response to this I passed him in strength and magic to never let someone have a say over my own.  After high school I was clearly stronger than my father.  I forced him to withdraw from an arranged marriage, so I could marry William Embers, the one I was close to.  My father traveled the world after I married William and gave the reigns of the empire to his son leaving me as the Hidden Guards' Captain.

After I married William, I didn't get pregnant until I was 25 years old.  Considering how long demons lives are and how infertile demons are this isn't that long to get pregnant.

From the day my daughter, Alexandra, arrived in this world.  She had my looks and her dad's hair.  Even though I know it was strange that she stared around the room, I thought it was because of adapting to a new situation.  The priest that came to be the midwife of my birth proved me wrong.  She was excellent in healing magic and divination. What I wasn't expecting was that she was a chaos child.  I also didn't think William would get someone from the top of the church to come here, someone who knew what a chaos child was.  Of course I learned about it, but only the top of the governments and churches educate about who they are because they haven't been around for over 500 years.

After she told me that, I forced William to form a sealing contract with her to prevent her from leaking the information.  I didn't want my daughter to go through the trials that a good deal of chaos children have to go through if ousted to the world.  Since she was the chaos child, I decided to spoil my daughter as she grew up because I like to spoil what is mine.  I guess this sounds bad, but that doesn't matter much to me.

My daughter seemed to play with my emotions while taking measures to protect her.  She would talk, crawl, walk, and do things right as I was about to finish something.  I guess one thing I didn't have to worry about was having little Ellie be her maid.  Even though Ellie was just started high school, I contacted her if she would want to be my daughter's maid.  I am self assured in my ability to read people, so the condition to get Ellie to be a maid was to teach her magic.  So she became a part-time maid until she graduated from high school where she became a full-time maid.  Ally seemed to find a love for petting Ellie’s ears and playing with her hair.

I knew my daughter wanted to look around places that weren't just this mansion.  But knowing the danger of the outside world I wanted to avoid it for a while. So when we first went to the market with her, she was so excited that it made me smile.  I first caught a glimpse of her obsessive nature when she found an Elemental pendant.  It surprised me that it caught her attention considering the pendant wasn't on direct display.  Since Ellie wasn't able to pry her away from it, we bought it.

After the fairy showed up, I was wondering what she wanted with Ally until I saw her give a rainbow flower.  This flower is a treasure to the world, but it isn't known where to get it except to the fairies that can produce it.  From then on I kept a close watch over her, but realized that they were only building an underground tunnel for some reason so I let them be.  Ellie kept watch on them while I came up with more countermeasures for my daughter.

It wasn't enough though as a kidnapping attempt by the hidden church occurred.

As I arrived, I saw that Ellie was having trouble with the head kidnapper while the others had killed one of the guards.   It had occurred to me that this will traumatize my daughter.  This thought coupled with her blank expression broke something in me.  I usually will cause people to die a quick painless death unless they were the worst people possible, but I killed them all by drowning rather than being merciful.  Even though they are henchmen, they made a move against my daughter.

Finished, now to help Ellie.  She isn't hurt, but I need to capture the lead kidnapper to interrogate him.  It was easy enough considering I have fought far worse, but the only thing keeping me from tearing him limb from limb was that Ally was still here.  I knocked him out and threw him into my pocket dimension for later.

I quickly rushed to my daughter and told her, "Don’t worry Ally, just relax, everything will be ok."

Right after I said that, she fell asleep.

I had Ellie take her home while I entered my pocket dimension to interrogate or torture the lead kidnapper.  When I entered I asked him, "Do you know who hired you."

When he didn't answer I smiled, it wasn't a smile of joy, it was a smile of malice.  I will not go further into the details of the interrogation, but I can tell you he spilled everything he knew.  Then I took down individuals in order until I found out it was the church of death that came out of the dark and do this.

It's too bad that there is no way to find out where they are, because I would very much like to torture them all to death.  I only found sub members in the capital and they didn't get a burial.

If you think I am brutal, then what would you do if your child was almost taken from you to who knows where from such a nefarious group as the church of death.

Anyways, considering that Ally became withdrawn and concerned about the family of the fallen guard, I made her a spatial ring.  I also allowed her friends to pick a pet for her to bring up.  Afterwards, I took her to my room in the castle.  Actually my room is a transporter to another location and is probably my best innovation.  It's too bad it takes far too many resources to make them.  Anyway I argued with my brother about rejoining the Hidden Guards, but I declined.  He ended up becoming irritating, so I threw him out of my room and through the portal.

As Ally grew up it became apparent that she was obsessive and forgetful, oh how contradictory she is.  She makes a nice dress-up doll though considering how cute she is, as expected of my child.  She never put up a fight though, so she doesn't seem to care much.

As the days went by, Ally was about to unlock her magic powers.  The little fairy used a method that was experimental on demons and caused Ally to get mana poisoning after absorbing enough magic power to restrain the mana in her core.

I panicked at the beginning, but as she stabilized, we fretted if she would wake up.  Little did I know the fairy would put a sleeping spell on all of us.

I decided to punish the fairy, Tina, with what I consider basic training.  For her it should be enough to get her to become far more respectful.  From what I could tell, she became fearful of me so every time I see her I smile.  She freezes.

Teaching my daughter magic was far easier than I thought it would be, so I can't criticize her.  She is far quicker than I was and I'm considered a top talent, at least on this continent.  As I sent my daughter to the dorms, I reminded her secret guard to keep an eye on everyone she interacts with.  I'm not sure why, but she may have trouble getting along with the students.
