Chapter - 61 : Zachery and Jerry - IV

---

On the day of round 2, the excitement was palpable as the remaining 200 students, 160 from the rich area and 40 from the poor area, gathered for their matches. The participants were selected randomly, and the battles commenced, igniting a new wave of thrilling matchups.

Both Zachery and Jerry had their match scheduled on the same day.

Finally, it was Zachery's turn to step onto the stage, and he found himself facing Danny Traverse. The tension between them was evident, with Danny provokingly looking at Zachery. The referee signaled the start of the match, and Danny sent out his level 23 Grimer, while Zachery chose to send out his Phanpy.

The battle began, and Phanpy emerged victorious, but not without consequences. It was badly poisoned by Grimer's Sludge attack. Undeterred, Danny switched to his level 22 Dwebble, prompting Zachery to recall Phanpy and send out his Pinsir to face the new opponent. Dwebble came out victorious, defeating Pinsir with its Rock Tomb move. However, Dwebble was left weakened in the process fighting.

Zachery made the strategic decision to bring Phanpy back into the battle, despite its poisoning. With an impressive display of strength, Phanpy knocked out Dwebble using its Rollout move, but succumbed to its own exhaustion shortly after.

In a climactic showdown, Zachery sent out his Ninetales, while Danny unleashed his last Pokémon, Magneton. Danny's face revealed his apprehension as Ninetales held a clear advantage. True to expectations, Ninetales swiftly defeated Magneton with a powerful Flamethrower attack.

Zachery emerged victorious, rushing to the stage with joy as he embraced his Ninetales. Arthur couldn't help but feel immensely happy for his friend's success.

After several more matches, it was finally Jerry's turn to step onto the stage. However, luck seemed to have deserted him this time as his next opponent was from the rich area.

Jerry confidently walked onto the stage, facing the boy who stood before him. The match began, and Jerry sent out his Pawmo, while his opponent countered with a level 25 Shuppet. The battle ensued, and although Pawmo was ultimately defeated, it managed to paralyze Shuppet before being knocked out.

Undeterred, Jerry then sent out his Golbat. Taking advantage of Shuppet's paralysis, Golbat swiftly won the match using its Air Slash and Bite attacks.

The boy sent out his level 24 Tauros, and Jerry chose to continue with Golbat. A fierce battle unfolded between the two Pokémon, both fighting with all their might. Exhaustion started to take its toll on both sides. Golbat unleashed an Aerial Ace attack, but Tauros countered with Horn Attack, dealing a significant blow that led to Golbat's defeat.

Jerry called back Golbat and took a deep breath, clutching the Pokéball containing his third Pokémon. With anticipation in the air, Jerry tossed the Pokéball, revealing Komala on the stage. Komala appeared sound asleep, hugging its log pillow. Arthur, along with the crowd, was astonished to see Komala, whose level had reached an impressive 28, the same as his own Gabite.

The boy on the opposing side was also taken aback by the sight of Komala. The battle commenced, with Tauros charging forward to use Horn Attack. Surprisingly, Komala effortlessly dodged the attack, despite appearing fast asleep. Komala defeated Tauros with its Low Sweep move, leaving the boy in disbelief.

The boy then sent out his level 26 Pignite. Pignite launched a Flame Charge, but Komala evaded the attack. Komala retaliated by using Yawn, making Pignite drowsy. Pignite attempted an Arm Thrust, striking Komala and causing its log pillow to fall. Komala woke up, clearly angered by the disturbance. Pignite fell asleep, and despite the boy's attempts to wake it up, it remained in slumber. Jerry seized the opportunity and commanded Komala to use Acrobatics, swiftly defeating Pignite and securing the victory.

With the battle won, Komala returned to where its log pillow had fallen, picked it up, and promptly fell back asleep.

Jerry called back Komala and made his way off the stage, feeling accomplished.
