Chapter - 16 : Battle Royale - IV
---
As the first round came to an end, the students gathered once again to pick their numbers for the second round. Arthur, Zachery, and Jerry eagerly made their way to the stage. Arthur drew number 19, Zachery got number 12, and Jerry, unfortunately, ended his streak of luck with number 10.
"I guess I have to battle this round," said Jerry sadly, feeling a bit disappointed. Zachery and Arthur couldn't help but giggle at Jerry's comment, trying to lighten the mood. The matches began, with each student stepping up and giving their best in the battles. The arena was filled with excitement as there were many intense and amazing battles taking place.
"Number 10," called the referee, and Jerry nervously made his way to the stage. After a few minutes, he returned to his seat with a dejected expression. Unfortunately, Jerry had lost the battle to his opponent, whose level 9 Geodude proved to be too strong for Jerry's level 7 Zubat. The opponent swiftly ended the battle with a powerful Rock Throw attack.
After the 11th and 12th matches concluded, the referee called for number 13, which was Zachery. Zachery confidently stepped onto the stage, facing off against the boy with the formidable Alolan Sandshrew. Zachery sent out his Phanpy, ready for the battle.
Phanpy started off strong, but the tables turned when the Alolan Sandshrew unleashed a powerful Ice Punch, catching Phanpy off guard as it closed in to use Flail. The move proved to be a game-changer, ultimately leading to Phanpy's defeat.
Arthur couldn't help but think that the boy must have used a Technical Machine ™ to teach his Alolan Sandshrew that powerful Ice-type move. It was a stark reminder of the advantage money could provide in acquiring valuable resources for training and battling.
As it was finally Arthur's turn to battle, his friends Zachery and Jerry wished him good luck. Arthur walked confidently onto the stage, determined to do his best. The crowd eagerly waited to see who Arthur's opponent would be as the referee prepared to make the announcement.
When Arthur saw that his opponent was Danny Traverse, he frowned. Danny, noticing Arthur's reaction, smirked confidently. Arthur quickly assessed the situation and decided to end the battle swiftly. He called out Charcadet, his trusted partner, while Danny sent out his Grimer. Arthur's eyebrows raised when he saw that Grimer was at level 11, higher than he expected.
"I guess , he worked hard too." Arthur thought.
The contrast between the resources available to those with financial means and those without became apparent. Nevertheless, Arthur remained determined to give his best in the upcoming battle.

"Charcadet, use Flame Charge," said Arthur confidently. In response, Danny commanded his Grimer to use Harden, raising its defense. The Flame Charge attack landed on Grimer, but its increased defense lessened the impact. Danny then instructed Grimer to use Poison Gas, but Arthur quickly countered, "Dodge it and use Will-O-Wisp." With Charcadet's speed, it easily evaded the Poison Gas and hit Grimer with the burning flames of Will-O-Wisp, inflicting a severe burn.
Taking advantage of Grimer's weakened state, Arthur swiftly commanded Charcadet to use Flame Charge once more. Despite Danny's attempt to order a dodge, Grimer was in too much pain from the burn and failed to avoid the attack in time. Grimer's defeat was imminent, and without looking back, Arthur retrieved Charcadet and left the stage, leaving Danny behind.
Arthur returned to his seat with a smile on his face, happy that Charcadet had finally reached level 11. Zachery couldn't contain his amusement, laughing at Danny's disgruntled expression. Arthur joined in the laughter, finding it amusing as well.
As the remaining matches concluded, signaling the end of round 2, the excitement in the air was palpable.

1. Readers may wonder why wealthy individuals don't simply purchase powerful Pokémon at higher levels or acquire Pokémon from their family members. However, it's important to understand that the world of Pokémon is not solely about the strength of the Pokémon or the level they possess.
In the Pokémon world, the bond between a trainer and their Pokémon is crucial. It's not just about having a high-level Pokémon; it's about the journey of training, battling, and forming a deep connection with one's Pokémon. Simply acquiring a powerful Pokémon without the necessary training, understanding, and experience may not lead to success in battles.
Furthermore, Pokémon battles are not solely determined by the level or power of the Pokémon. Strategy, knowledge of Pokémon types and moves, and tactical decision-making are equally important factors in achieving victory. Wealthy individuals may have access to more resources, but true success as a Pokémon trainer comes from the dedication, skill, and effort put into training and developing the bond with their Pokémon.
While some wealthy individuals may have family members with strong Pokémon, the same principles apply. The Pokémon still need to be trained, and the trainers must develop their skills to effectively utilize their team in battles. In the end, it's the combination of hard work, strategy, and the bond between trainer and Pokémon that truly determines success in the Pokémon world.
2. As an author, I prefer that all trainers start on equal footing without the advantage of acquiring higher-level Pokémon from the beginning. I believe in emphasizing the importance of personal training and development for each trainer and their Pokémon. While wealthier individuals may have access to rare Pokémon through financial means, I aim to maintain a fair playing field where trainers must invest their own time, effort, and skill to nurture their Pokémon. This approach highlights the value of hard work, determination, and the bond between trainer and Pokémon as the primary factors for achieving success in the Pokémon world.
