Chapter - 26 : Earning money

---

Six months has passed and Arthur has to empty the hotel room . He could not afford anymore to live in the hotel as he has only 800 pokecoins left which are left for his and Charcadet's food.

As Arthur strolled through the streets, he couldn't help but ponder the question, "How can I make some money?" The lack of success in mining and battles left him in a dilemma.

"I've got to figure out a way to earn some cash," he muttered to himself. He knew he needed a fresh approach to tackle this problem.

Glancing around, Arthur noticed a community notice board with job postings. His eyes lit up with a spark of hope. "Maybe I can find a part-time job," he thought. "There must be something in this city that suits my skills and interests."

He walked closer to the notice board, scanning through the advertisements. "Pokémon Center assistant, Poké Mart cashier, Pokémon caretaker... These options seem promising," he contemplated. "I could contribute to the Pokémon community and earn a steady income at the same time."

Arthur felt sad as he was rejected from all the job centers because they felt that a child wont't be og any help. However, little did they know that Arthur possessed the wisdom and maturity of a 29-year-old adult, despite his young appearance.

"Should I consider visiting that area?" thought Arthur, feeling a sense of uncertainty. Six months ago, during his exploration, he discovered a place known as the "Pokemon Mission Center." This location was open to everyone, offering missions posted by people seeking assistance. However, these missions were known to be relatively dangerous, often requiring exploration deep into the mining mountain or forest to locate specific items. Accepting a mission required a fee of 300 pokecoins, with a set timeframe for completion, or else the fee would not be refunded.

For the past six months, Arthur had been hesitant to visit the Mission Center. Firstly, he had only explored the outskirts of the mountain and forest, avoiding encounters with powerful Pokemon. Secondly, he couldn't guarantee his success in completing the missions. Lastly, he was facing financial constraints, and parting with 300 pokecoins was a significant expense for him.

"I suppose I don't have any other options now," Arthur sighed, feeling a sense of resignation. With no other viable options available to him, Arthur mustered his courage and made the determined choice to take the risk by heading straight to the mission center.

Arthur arrived outside the mission center and observed a bustling crowd of trainers entering and exiting the building. He then entered the mission center and discovered a bulletin board with numerous missions posted on it. Joining the gathering of people, he began scanning through the available missions.

As Arthur perused the missions board, he came across a diverse array of tasks. There were missions ranging from locating rare fossils and evolutionary stones to tracking down specific Pokémon and gathering various berries. Other missions involved discovering relic stones or antique items, as well as providing escort services for trainers in need. The options seemed endless, each presenting its own unique challenges and rewards.

As Arthur examined the missions, he realized that some of them had specific requirements that he didn't meet. For instance, the escort service mission required trainers to have at least three Pokémon above level 20, and joining a team for venturing deep into the forest demanded a trainer with a Pokémon at least level 30. These missions were beyond his current capabilities, and he needed to find something more suitable for his skill level.

Arthur dismissed the idea of pursuing missions related to finding evolutionary stones, fossils, or relic stones. After six months of fruitless searching, he felt it was a waste of time and didn't want to rely solely on luck while spending 300 pokecoins. He needed a more practical and reliable approach to earning money and progressing in his journey.

Arthur stumbled upon a mission that involved collecting Silver Pinap Berries and Golden Pinap Berries. The mission provided a map with an estimated area where these berries could be found, and the time frame for completion was set at 6 months. Arthur couldn't fathom the idea of not being able to find these berries within that timeframe. He felt determined to take on the challenge and prove his abilities.

Confidently, Arthur approached the woman behind the counter and informed her about his decision to take on the mission. However, he noticed her lack of interest as she registered the mission under his name and collected the fee. Just as he was about to leave, the woman halted him and questioned his certainty in completing the mission.

Perplexed, Arthur wondered why she was asking this. To his surprise, she revealed that the mission had been posted for the past 2 years, and no one had successfully found the Silver Pinap Berries and Golden Pinap Berries. In response to the ongoing failure, the mission's owner decided to increase the reward to 600 pokecoins per berry and extended the time frame by another 6 months. The woman shared how many trainers had attempted the mission but failed, highlighting the substantial amount of money they had earned from the unsuccessful attempts, which she expressed with a smile.

Feeling a mix of frustration and disappointment, Arthur confronted the woman, questioning why she hadn't informed him about the mission's history before he accepted it and paid the fee. Her response, accompanied by a smile, only deepened his exasperation. She explained that if they disclosed the mission's previous failures upfront, they wouldn't be able to earn any money from unsuspecting trainers like him.

Arthur left the mission center with a heavy heart, cursing the woman and her deceitful practices in his mind. He felt dejected and frustrated by the lack of transparency and the wasted money he had spent on a seemingly impossible mission.
