Chapter - 31 : Fisher

---

Arthur positioned himself behind the bushes, observing intently as two men engaged in a battle with their Pokémon. One had a level 24 Golbat, while the other commanded a level 23 Ariados.

"I thought we were like brothers," the man with the Ariados said angrily. The man with the Golbat laughed mockingly and replied, "Brothers? Ha! In the world of money, there is no such thing as family."

"But we agreed to share the money," the man with the Ariados retorted with frustration. The man with the Golbat sneered and replied, "Share? Why would I share when I can have all the money to myself?"

"You...!" the man with the Ariados started to say, but his words got stuck in his throat, unable to express his anger and disbelief.

"Golbat, use Air Slash and finish this battle. We need to make a swift exit," commanded the man. Golbat obeyed the command and swiftly executed the Air Slash, causing the Ariados to faint.

"What do you want now?" the man with the Ariados said angrily, gripping his Pokémon tightly, as the man with the Golbat approached him.

"I have to silence you forever. I don't want any remnants of regret lingering. I won't tolerate any possibility of revenge," the man with the Golbat said with a sinister smile.

"Golbat, eliminate his Ariados first, and then eliminate him," the man ordered. As Golbat approached, the man quickly threw his Ariados aside and yelled, "Run, Ariados!" Startled by his trainer's command, Ariados regained consciousness, only to witness his trainer's head being severed from his body by Golbat's attack.

Ariados swiftly fled into the forest as instructed by its former trainer. Observing this, the man with Golbat halted his Pokémon and advised it to let Ariados go, as the main target was now eliminated.

Arthur, observing the gruesome scene from his hiding spot, was overwhelmed with anger and a realization dawned upon him. He recognized that the world was filled with malicious individuals like the man with Golbat, and he felt grateful that he had chosen to venture alone, maintaining his vigilance throughout his journey.

As the man and his Golbat moved in a particular direction, their backs turned towards Arthur, he swiftly gave Charcadet the command to launch a surprise attack with Flame Charge. Golbat, caught off guard, had no time to react and was struck by the fiery assault, causing it to faint instantly.

The man stood there, unable to comprehend what had just transpired. As he looked at Arthur and Charcadet, a sense of regret washed over him. He realized that he should have settled the fight with the man and his Ariados earlier, and left the area promptly.

The man pleaded with Arthur, his voice filled with fear and desperation, "Please, spare my life." Kneeling before him, he hoped to escape the fate that befell the other man. Arthur gazed at him, contemplating his words. "Why should I let you live?" he questioned, his voice laced with a mix of anger and distrust. "You didn't show mercy to the other man."

The man, desperate to secure his life, made a last-ditch effort to plead with Arthur. "Please, take the Pokémon in the cage behind that boulder and accept this fire stone as well," he implored, holding out the stone. Arthur remained silent, his expression unreadable. "Furthermore," the man continued, his voice trembling, "I am willing to turn myself in to the authorities and confess to all my crimes." The words hung in the air, causing Arthur to waver in his decision.

As the man shouted the command, "Golbat, use Air Slash," Arthur's hesitation turned to alarm. However, Charcadet's vigilance prevailed, and without wasting a moment, Charcadet countered the incoming Air Slash with a powerful Night Shade attack. The collision of the two moves created a dazzling display of energy, causing the man's Golbat to falter.

As Arthur's focus shifted towards Golbat, the man knew that Golbat was weakened and wouldn't survive the next attack,so he swiftly drew a dagger from his pants and charged towards Arthur, driven by desperation and determination.

"Uh..!" cried the man in pain and shock. Arthur quickly turned his attention towards the source of the sound, only to witness Ariados's Poison Jab piercing through the man's heart, ending his malicious intentions.

Seeing his trainer meet a tragic end, Golbat quickly fled from the scene, realizing the danger she was in.

Arthur expressed his gratitude to Ariados with a nod, acknowledging the Pokemon's help. As Ariados left the area, he reflected on the gravity of his mistake and realized that he could have lost his life if it hadn't been for Ariados intervening.
