“You think you can fight against an immortal monster that both the War Titan and the Storm Titan failed against?” Asked the Mardana Kingdom’s King, Athurus from behind.
“I haven’t been defeated yet,” corrected Valerian in a cold voice.
Dominic laughed and asked, “If you’re going to be so negative, then we’ll never make any progress!”
With that, he kicked off the ground and soared straight towards the monster girl while pulling out his sword from the sheathe. As he drew closer, the monster let out violent roar that caused a wild blowing wind to be sent in his direction. However, he broke through it without losing speed and stabbed the monster through the chest while shouting a technique out loud.
“Slashing Blades!”
In an instant, his blade began to emit a brilliant glow before multiple slicing winds of energy were released from it. They cut through the monster in every direction, causing its body to get split apart and soon thrown to shreds. As they fell apart, Dominic swung his sword around and held it up while activating another technique by saying it out loud.
“Storm Blades!”
Two magic circles appeared in mid-air before countless swords rained down and flew towards the split parts of the monster girl’s body. Upon reaching the body part, the sword would pierce into it and caused a violent burst of lightning that would light the sky and caused many to cover their eyes to not get blinded.
“Trying to destroy every part of its body so it cannot reconstruct itself?” Asked the voice of his Sacred Spirit inside his head.
He smiled without giving a reply as it was exactly what he was trying to do. If the monster truly was immortal, then no amount of damage he does would do anything against it. However, he was not worried in the least that the monster cannot be killed because of the one fact that his master, the previous Sword Titan taught him.
“Only Gods can kill Gods.”
That fact and that the monster was not emitting any kind of godly power or such, especially something his Sacred Spirit did not detect meant that the monster girl was not a god. She was an entity that seemed to have a strong restoration ability that made it seem like she cannot be killed no matter what, creating the illusion that she was an immortal.
“You sure you cannot sense any Godly power or aura from her at all, Seta?” He asked his Sacred Spirit for confirmation.
“Definitely, master,” his Sacred Spirit replied without a second’s delay. “If she did have something like that, I would’ve warned you by now because its suicidal to fight a God no matter how powerful you are, even if you are as powerful as the Phoenix Titan.”
“I know,” he replied, but he still smiled and said, “At least, he fought the God of Calamity and lived to tell about it.”
“Yes, but aren’t you forgetting the extra detail of him summoning the Goddess of War? If it weren’t for her summoning, he and those heroes in that other world would’ve been destroyed along with that world,” said Seta coldly. “The God of Calamity is not someone to be trifled with, especially with the God of Power missing to put him in check.”
This piece of information surprised Dominic, who asked, “What? The God of Power is missing? What do you mean?”
Before his Sacred Spirit could give him a reply, he was distracted when sharp red needles began flying at him from all directions. This made him quickly react by dodging each and every one of them while swinging his sword around with his body movement to destroy several that he simply could not dodge in time.
“What is this?” He asked as he spun around dodging and destroying the red needles attacking him.
He moved away and quickly put some space between himself and the flying needles before pulling his sword back and swinging it in an arc, unleashing a powerful slicing wave of destruction to fly down. As the wave flew down, the red needles suddenly converged and formed into a solid watery substance that seemingly blocked the attack before causing an explosion to occur.
As the smoke cleared, he watched in amazement as the watery red substance seemed to be pulsating before quickly trying to take form. This made him instantly realise what the substance was much to his horror.
“Is that… blood?!” He exclaimed, looking shocked. “H-How can it be… sentient?!”
“It’s not sentient,” replied his Sacred Spirit. “It’s Blood Magic, a forbidden magical element because it breaks the boundaries of the naturality of the other elements.”
“Blood Magic,” he repeated with a serious look on his face. “How come this is my first-time hearing about it?”
“Like I said, it’s one of the forbidden magical elements that one shouldn’t be aware of. It’s usually practised by those corrupted by the Twisted Nature of Darkness, which is the same magic that the God of Calamity reigns over.”
“The God of Calamity!” Dominic said, his eyes sharpening at the name of the God that attempted at his friend’s life while in another world. “He’s involved in this then?”
“Him or his followers. There are crazy people out there that are brainwashed into being his apostilles and cannot be reasoned with. It’s like their very existence is to do his bidding with unquestionable loyalty even if it means throwing away their lives to carry out the tasks that he assigns them with.”
“I see,” said Dominic as he watched the monster girl come back into shape and stretch her body. “So, is there a way to beat this kind of magic?”
“I can’t say I’ve ever had experience fighting this kind of magic before,” she admitted much to his dismay, “but its not like its invincible. It surely would cost the caster a lot of their magic to sustain such levels of Blood Magic to bring her back so many times.”
“So, we just have to basically keep hitting her so much that the caster would give up?” Dominic asked with a wry smile. Then he nodded as he saw that the monster girl was back to normal and said, “Alright. I get the gist of it. In that case, I think its better to take this to the next level.”
She understood what he meant and replied, “I am ready whenever you are, master.”
Stolen story; please report.
With that, he descended to the ground to land smoothly before holding his sword up with a confident smile as he chanted a spell to activate his technique.
“I swear on my blood, my life and my soul that a I, Dominic Rutherford, am the successor to wield the Blades of Destiny!”
As he chanted, the wind began to blow faster around them and the watching people looked on in amazement as he began to glow in a golden light. The monster roared and charged at him by flying at an incredible speed. However, it would not reach him in time as he spoke again, this time to activate the technique.
“Activate: Dominion of the Blades!”
The moment the last word came out of his mouth, a flash of golden light sudden appeared where he was standing and caused everyone to quickly hide their eyes. The golden light quickly intensified so much that it was blinding to see what was happening, which caused the monster to close its eyes as it continued to fly down towards him without stopping.
There was a moment of pause before the monster girl was blasted back with such force that she flew through several buildings and hit the border of the Mardana Kingdom’s capital wall. A few seconds later, the blinding golden light dimmed and disappeared to bring the view back to normal.
Feeling this, everyone slowly opened their eyes and drew a collective breath at the spectacle that greeted them. There was a golden aura surrounding the entire Mardana Kingdom’s capital like some kind of field. On the ground, countless golden swords were protruding out while there were many more golden swords hovering in mid-air all around them.
While everyone was transfixed by this amazing view, Athurus murmured, “W-What is this…?”
“Wow…!” Valerian said, reacting for the first time at seeing the Sword Titan’s magic. “This is amazing.”
“I suppose that is the reaction you’d get at seeing this for the first time, right?” Asked a voice, and they turned to see a man fully equipped with a golden armour that was shining and radiating a beautiful golden aura. “This is my Dominion of Blades, Val.”
“D-Dominion of… Blades…?” Valerian asked hesitantly.
Dominic nodded and said, “Yes. I control each and every single sword in this space at will,” and he waved his hand in an upward way.
In response to his action, the swords protruding out of the ground suddenly began to glow and rose into the air. Everyone panicked when this happened and tried to get away from this, but there was no where else to go since the dominion field was covering the entire capital.
“You!” Athurus exclaimed in a loud angry voice, making the two turn to face him. “Do you have any idea what you’ve done?!”
Dominic looked at him with cold eyes through the visor of his armour and said, “If you have any complaints, keep it to yourself until we get through this mess.”
“W-What?!” Athurus exclaimed, looking utterly shocked at being cut off without even allowed to speak by the Sword Titan.
At that moment, all attention got diverted when a loud explosion occurred some where in the distance and saw a huge cloud of debris rising before the monster broke free. It was roaring wildly and began to fire a barrage of deep read energy blasts towards where they were.
Dominic reacted by merely waving his pointed finger towards the incoming energy blasts. To his command, the floating swords swivelled around in mid-air and flew off towards the incoming energy blasts. An explosion occurred on contact between the energy blast and the sword, causing a strong wind to blow as well as smoke to spread in all directions.
The monster girl roared and flew towards them at high speed, which made Dominic to raise his hand above his head and wave them to fly at her. As he commanded them, the swords began flying towards the monster girl and began a mid-air battle between her and the swords.
She showed surprising fighting capability, dodging the swords and breaking them simply by punching them. This made Dominic look on in amazement by the level of skill she was demonstrating despite appearing to be a mindless monster.
“Looks like she isn’t all mindless,” he remarked after seeing her.
“Yes,” agreed Valerian with a nod of his head. “She is very good even though she is like that.”
They watched the monster girl dismantle all the swords flying at her with relative ease and seemed to be growing in strength. This made the Sword Titan worry as he felt letting her get any stronger would be problematic and the reason for him using Dominion of the Blades was to put pressure on her caster.
As such, he extended both of his hand out wide and after pausing for a few seconds, waved them to converge towards each other. At the same time, a large number of swords suddenly fly up from the ground and many more joined them after moving from their frozen mid-air hovering state. Then the swords flew at her and started to pierce into her while cutting her in places all over her body.
She let out a violent roar as the countless swords converged on her and began to deal a lot of damage. This continued on for several seconds as she desperately fought against the swords, even resorting to fire energy blast all around and firing an energy wave of destruction, but the swords would stop each of them and continued to penetrate her body with numerous sword wounds as well as dealing painful wounds on her body.
Finally, having had enough, the monster flew into a rage and roared, “RRRRRRROOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!”
As it did, an intense amount of energy suddenly got released from her from repelling all the swords attacking her. Then raised both of her hands into the air and began channelling a large amount of energy there, which soon took the shape of a large dark-red sphere of destruction.
“RRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!” She roared and hurled the attack at them, which flew at an alarming speed towards them and destroyed many of the swords that tried to get in the way to block its flight path.
The people began to panic at the large attack flying at them and while they were losing their minds, the Sword Titan calmly waved his hand in a circle. To his command, many swords converged in front of him and quickly formed into a circular shape like a long cannon while creating a wall all around him. Then a large amount of energy gathered in the open part of the cannon the swords formed by joining together.
As the energy attack drew nearer, Dominic pointed at it and shouted, “Sword Drive Cannon!”
Upon his command and exertion of power, the cannon shape made of swords fired the gathered massive energy into an immense golden wave of destruction. It soared through the air at high speed and collided against the incoming sphere of destruction, which caused a violent release of wind and shock waves that got sent in all directions while the ground shook heavily.
The two forces fought each other for a few seconds before a violent spark occurred, which resulted in a powerful explosion that destroyed the small area of the capital. The people fleeing from that part of the area were sent flying away and collided against the walls of buildings while debris rained down on them, resulting in multiple deaths and countless injuries.
The Sword Titan was shocked beyond belief when he heard the screams of people from where the explosion occurred just as the Mardana Kingdom’s King exclaimed, “You bastard! What have you done?! There are still people there!”
Dominic rounded on him with a violent fury and bellowed, “What the hell are you doing not evacuating the people of your kingdom’s capital?!”
“W-What?!” Athurus exclaimed, taken aback by the sudden angry he was showed by the Sword Titan. This caused him to become defensive and exclaim, “How dare you speak to me with such a tone?!”
To his surprise, Dominic stepped forward and grabbed him by the shirt before exclaiming, “Answer my question!”
In an instant, the guards behind Athurus reacted with alarm and quickly moved forward to defend their king. However, with a wave from Dominic’s hand, multiple swords flew forward and pierced into the warriors and kept them stationary and unable to move despite the struggle they clearly showed.
“You did not evacuate your people?!” He exclaimed as he turned back to face Athurus.
The Mardana Kingdom’s King began to sweat as he feared for his life and said, “I-I told my warriors to do it, but-but… the constant fighting c-caused confusion!”
Dominic looked very angry through his visor and said, “You think?!”
Just then, they heard a sinister voice suddenly reverberate throughout their surroundings as he said, “Well now, I can’t have the fun being ruined because of the Sword Titan, now do I? Why don’t we make it… even?”
As the voice said that, there was a sudden surge of power, and they turned to look in the direction of the monster. Black lightning was emitting from around her as she seemed to be holding two balls of lightning in her hand. In the next second, she let out a roar and tossed the balls to either side that split them selves into several smaller balls of energy. They soared through the hit all the swords in their path, causing the swords to suddenly emit a dark red aura before transforming from golden swords to blood red swords and seemed to follow her commands instead as they floated up to beside her and aimed their pointed ends towards their previous master.
