ARC 16: Chapter 450 - The Heroes Move - Part 2

Asura’s consciousness surfaced inside of Lakshman and took charge of Lakshman’s body while its owner slept in his Unconscious World. He moaned a little and slowly opened his eyes to stare at an unfamiliar ceiling and that he was lying on something like a metal, which was slightly digging into his back. Turning his head slightly, he was in a place filled with a massive crowd, who were all dealing with their issues in their own way.

“Where am I?” He asked, blinking once in confusion.

Just then, a familiar voice excitedly said, “Ah! You woke up!”

Asura turned his head and saw that it was Raze, who was sitting right next to him without his realisation. She did not immediately notice that he was awake because her attention was wandering around the room and looking at everyone there. Now, seeing her hero awake brought about a wonderous smile onto her face, which was masked by the mask she continued to wear.

He turned his head to face her and asked again, “Where am I?”

“You’re in an underground shelter, and we’re safe from the threat on the outside,” she replied immediately.

Asura blinked once and said, “The aliens are invading.”

It sounded more like a statement than a question but Raze nodded her head to confirm his statement. Just then, a tremor occurred and it shook the shelter they were in, and the already fear stricken people into yelling in alarm.

“This is bad. The tremors have been getting stronger for the past few minutes,” muttered Raze in a worried voice, which was auditable enough for Asura to hear them.

“What’s the status on the surface?” He asked, managing to push himself up into a sitting position.

His surroundings were taken by surprise by his sudden awakening and the princes rushed towards him with expressions of great relief.

“Not good, I’m afraid. The heroes are outnumbered, ten to one and even the Nine Heroes of Legends are facing difficulty in fighting the aliens back,” reported Raze, a tone of sadness in her voice.

“Everyone went in with the strongest of equipment that we could offer with our present technology,” said the first prince, Bolten, with a serious look on his face, his hands formed into fists that shook with anger. “Unfortunately, the enemies are far stronger than they expected, and our side are suffering casualties.”

“For some reason, these monsters appear to be far stronger than any monster that our warriors had ever faced! It’s almost like they’ve been boosted with some kind of equipment or something, similar to what our side is utilising!” Santa said, looking very angry at the bad outcome that was being presented to his side.

Asura listened to their explanation in silence and thought, “So, everyone left to fight but are facing great difficulty due to the overwhelming strength of the enemy. What a mess? Don’t these people have brains to assess the situation and figure out that they’re no match and possibly work out a strategy?”

He remembered the attitude of his fellow heroes and those of the people in this world, and quickly came to the conclusion that the people in this world are useless. If they had been capable of organising themselves, forming strategies to fight their enemies effectively with their highly advanced technology at their side, he and the other heroes would not have had to be summoned from their respective worlds.

Shaking his head to clear away the unnecessary thoughts, he focused on the problem at hand and asked them a question that had been bothering him for some time.

“I’ve been wondering… Don’t you have some kind of planetary defence system that protects shields against warping into the planet surface, or any weapons to destroy ships?”

For a moment, everyone exchanged glances with one another before Erza spoke up to give him the explanation.

“We have none,” she said, and Asura raised an eyebrow incredulously, “but we would’ve constructed them if we had known this sort of thing was going to happen! Instead, after years of war and conflict, we understood the loss of life and united as a race to repair the damage done and help each other to better our lives with our M.E.Ds. It was not until aliens attacked five-years-ago and, ever since then, we began evolving M.E.D and equipped it with magical elements to fight them with but the strength still needs to be adjusted.”

“So, their ability to fight back is lacking by a huge margin,” thought Asura, feeling a little frustrated at their stupidity to throw away all weapons, and he made his opinion known to them.

“Accepting each other and living in peace while developing yourself and the world around you are great, but it won’t help us in this situation. In the worst-case scenario that some kind of attack happens, you must have an ability to fight it back because, when the time comes, no one is willing to step out and risk their necks against an enemy they were unprepared for.”

No one replied as they stood their grounds and looked down, shame faced. They knew it to be the truth but were willing to face the problem at hand, happily closing their eyes to the truth and lunging on blindly. It was the arrogance of getting used to peaceful times that made them unprepared for the times of turmoil.  Even the establishment of the League of Heroes was just to help the society in securing it against thievery, kidnapping and sinister crimes. All of this was due to them not taking life seriously and preparing themselves for the unknown that could threaten them, like it was happening at the present time.

Asura looked around at the gloom that hung over everyone and sighed, realising he had been a little too harsh on them. He also understood their predicament came from a lack of preparation and getting too comfortable with peace, but he came from a time and a world that was always involved with conflict. Fighting on the front lines of battles had taught him one thing; to be ready for the unknown because it might just jump out at you when you least expect it, like it did now to the people of this world.

Deciding to move on, he cleared his throat and said, “Well, there’s no point in worrying over what’s been done. So, let’s focus on what should be done from now on, shall we?”

He was trying his best to speak kindly to them, something he had almost forgotten to do due to his harsh nature. It appeared to have worked because everyone lifted their heads and looked towards him with a ray of hope glimmering in their eyes. However, there was also fear mixed in with it due to the prospect of facing a really difficult situation considering that their warriors, including the Nine Heroes of Legends, are on the verge of defeat.

“He turned towards Erza and asked, “Princess, how long has it been since I was out?”

“Nearly two hours,” replied the princess, looking uncomfortable.

Asura was quite amazed and exclaimed, “That long?! Damn! That’s too long. I should’ve woken up sooner, but I suppose this is what the enemy had wanted from the start.”

“Um? What do you mean, Asura?” Bolten asked, looking confused.

The hero from another world smiled at the prince of this world and said, “The key occurrence in a battle that changes the tide of the battle is strategy. Whoever the enemy was, possibly knew that there were high power levels here and warped here specifically to destroy those that pose a dangerous threat to their invasion plan and, in a way, he did succeed in putting me out of commission for a while. In the meantime, they went through with their plan and are almost on the verge of winning.”

“Yes, but even with you on the fighting ground, it’s unclear whether we would have had the upper hand or not,” said Santa with a sigh. “So much for summoning the Nine Heroes of Legends—Eeh!”

In an instant, he freaked out in fright and so did everyone that stood around Asura because he suddenly glared dangerously at the second price. The words he uttered were very rude and were to the point of putting down the people they summoned to this world at their own convenience to fight for them. This angered Asura greatly, and he immediately wanted to smash this arrogant man black and blue, but he forcefully controlled his temper.

“Prince! I don’t believe it’s wise to come to such a conclusion so quickly,” he said in a sharp voice, maintaining his cool despite his seething anger. “If they had enough time to practice in using their powers, the enemies at present would not have stood a chance against them. There is no doubt that the heroes the princess summoned are all powerful in their own right, however, it will take time for their full potential to be realised.”

There was a severe silence between them before the first prince, Bolten, replied in a reasoning voice.

“You’re correct, Asura, and I also wish to give the heroes plenty of time to fully realise their potential, but there is no time. Our enemies at our doorstep, about to knock down the doors that are our warriors and begin their onslaught. Even reinforcements from neighbouring cities will not be able to turn the tide at this stage. It’s already over.”

There was a finality in which he spoke that made it appear as though they hand lost, and his next statement clinched it.

“At least, the civilians are safely evacuated, so that’s a good thing. Our city might get destroyed, but our people will be safe. I think that’s the best possible result we can hope out of this one-sided battle.”

While everyone looked sadly at each other, Asura turned towards Bolten and asked, “Are you giving up, prince?”

“I’m not,” Bolten said fiercely, but his expression cooled and became sad when he continued to say, “but there appears to be no hope left for us. We tried our best and are about to be defeated, so I think we should feel proud of ourselves.”

At that, everyone smiled a little, and Asura’s impression of Bolten raised a bit. The first prince held the qualities of a good leader that cares for his people and would do anything to support them. The very same quality that Lakshman had, but unlike the prince, Lakshman has the power to do more than just support. This made Asura smile proudly at his current self’s abilities and achievements.

“That’s good, prince. It’s a good way of thinking. You think that way while I make a difference,” responded Asura in a cool voice with a cool expression on his face.

Everyone was quite surprised by his statement, and Bolten asked uncertainly as if he believed he misheard him.

“Pardon?”

“I repeat: I will make a difference,” Asura stated in a cool voice that amazed the onlookers.

As Bolten reeled back in surprise, several of the people, mainly the staff members, started berating him with strong words, but a single man and telling him that he was weak and cannot do anything. Even a comment comparing to how he mainly defeated the enemies because of receiving help from Gram was the reason in the previous battle. However, the very same person was currently struggling with his battle against the aliens that outnumber him by a huge margin.

The final person to have his word was the second prince, Santa, who had recovered from the earlier shock and fright.

“It’s obvious that you’re weak in comparison to Gram like the rest of the other heroes, Asura! Face reality!”

They were surprised to find that he seemed to be enjoying them berating him and waited for them to fall silent before raising his finger and speaking to the prince while addressing everyone else at the same time.

“In your turn, prince, I want you to realise one thing.” He paused for a brief moment before saying dramatically, “You don’t know me.”

A stunned silence followed his pronouncement and an intense atmosphere surrounded them, as Asura stared coolly at Santa, whose face was dying a deep shade of red in anger. It was clear that he was getting extremely mad at the unbelievable arrogance of the hero from another world, whom he does not feel like showing preferential treatment to.

Asura turned to Erza and asked, “Please get someone to escort me to the surface.”

“Eh? You really mean to fight them, all by yourself?” Erza asked, looking thoroughly bewildered.

“Yes,” replied Asura in a firm voice, leaving no chance for them to say anything back to him. He slowly got off his seat and got to his feet before asking, “Please, have someone lead me to the surface now.”

“Are you sure?” Raze asked from behind in a worried voice. “You just woke up. You should rest.”

She realised that there was no way anyone could stop this man, but for some reason, she got the feeling this man was much more than she or any of them had estimated. Even so, she looked at the situation practically and believed he would, at the very least, get a bit more rest before being able to fight properly.

Asura denied her request gently by saying, “I’m sorry, Raze, but the situation is dire and no hero is willing to sit back when a battle to decide the fate of something important is going on. I think you will agree, yes?”

Caught by his sudden question, she nodded reflexively before realising what just happened. Her expression could not be seen because of the mask hiding her face, but he sensed that she was suddenly pouting at being tricked. He chuckled to himself and, when the people parted for him to go, he followed one of the staff members towards the door closing the exit. As the door opened, they watched him and the staff member disappear out through it and only began to speak once the door closed.

“Something is strange about that man! He’s acting very differently to what he did before,” said Santa with a suspicious look on his face.

“Yes! It’s almost like he’s some kind of being that’s far above the rest of us! I don’t get it,” commented Erza with a bewildered look on her face.

While the other staff members echoed their words similar to the two royal siblings, Raze remained silent. She did not wish to express her opinion on this matter, but she sensed something different about that man, something that made her believe in his ability to succeed. The same opinion was voiced by Bolten, who was thinking the contrary to everyone else.

“He may appear so, but for some… strange reason, I get this feeling… Call it a vibe, but… I feel as though he’s not who he appears to be,” he said, receiving looks of surprise and amusement from the others.

“I don’t know, brother, but he’s one arrogant man if I must say so myself,” claimed Santa with an exasperated smile on his face.

Bolten did not reply, he simply nodded his head in agreement, but his expression did not change, as he continued to stare at the door that Asura exited through, which made him think, “Who is that man?”

★ ---- ★ - ★ ---- ★

Asura was led up to the surface, and what he came to find upon arriving was a world in chaos and turmoil. Buildings destroyed, land cracked and broken everywhere with meteor craters everywhere he saw. In the sky, a horde of monsters flying in all directions while, on the ground, the heroes and this world’s warriors were fighting valiantly against the overwhelming mass.

“This is worse than the report had stated,” the staff member said, looking frightened at the scene of the one-sided battle.

Asura did not say anything, instead he simply stood there and watched what the monsters were doing, trying to make sense of it. If he was going to attack, he had decided beforehand that it was paramount that he understood his enemy before making any move against them. This was made as an obvious choice because he still suspected the enemy had used some kind of technique that would put him out of commission in their surprise attack on the academy grounds using their main cannon.

“It was almost as if they knew of the high-power levels occurring and wanted to shut them down. Perhaps they have a sensory system that detects the power levels coming from the planet surface, and honed in on our location using it. If that’s true, then we brought this on ourselves,” he thought with a sad smile on his face. “Anyway, their commander is really something else, to bring this many within ten days after the defeat of their previous attack.”

Suddenly, he found a gaping hole in his thoughts and knitted his eyebrows in seriousness when he thought, “In fact, how’s it even possible for these aliens to deploy these many monsters and arrive here so soon? Lakshman crushed the ship, killing all of its occupants and sent it flying into space. No one should’ve survived it, unless… unless…!”

His thoughts paused briefly when he remembered the face of the three-eyed magic user, who used his powers with a strange kind of force. Both he and Lakshman were surprised of the way that man was able to use magic to deal them damage, however, he was still weaker than them when Lakshman fought back.

“Is it possible for him to have survived?” Asura thought finally, realising the possibility to be very high.

Even though he was weaker than Lakshman, the man had proven that he was fairly strong and this put his chances of surviving such a dangerous situation.

“If that’s the case, then this is nothing more than that man’s act of revenge,” muttered Asura in a quiet voice.

“Excuse me? Did you say something?” The staff member asked, hearing him say something inaudible and turned to face him.

Asura shook his head and replied, “No. You may leave. I’ll take it from here.”

Despite being relieved of his duty, the staff member remained rooted to the spot and asked, “Can you really do it? All on your own?”

The hero turned to smile a little bit at the person and responded with, “Stick around and watch. You’ll find out for yourself. Actions speak louder than words after all.”

With that statement, he walked out of the building with a smile on his face, welcoming the path of destruction. He stood his ground and looked around, noticing that none of the monsters or warriors seem to pay him any attention, almost as if they did not notice him yet.

“It appears that I must have my presence known! Easy!” He said and, in an instant, he began to surge with incredible power while radiating golden-red aura that surrounded him.

The activation of his powers caused the ground to crack beneath him and shake violently while the the pressure in the air thickened dangerously, startling everyone in the vicinity. They turned towards the source of the change and were shocked, surprised, and amazed to find a lone man standing there, radiating golden-red aura with a smile of confidence on his face. At the same time, the alien ship detected his surge of power and the people reported it to the three-eyed person.

“Sir! We’re suddenly detecting a high energy surge from the surface!”

“What?” The three-eyed person asked in a sharp voice. “Focus on who it is and display it on the screen!”

“Yes, sir!”

Doing as they were told, the alien people began pressing rapidly on the keys to have their view of the battle shifted towards the location the power surface occurred from. Within seconds, the multiple screens had shifted their focus onto a lone figure on the ground, who was radiating a golden-red aura that surrounded him. He was unable to make out who the person was due to the image being distorted due to the pixelated focus.

“Zoom in on that person and clear the image!”

With that order, the screens showed the view zooming in on the person, which only pixelated the image further. However, that soon changed as layers of correction started to occur to the image, and within moments the image cleared to reveal the face of their new enemy.

“It’s him…!” The three-eyed person muttered in a quiet voice, staring wide eyed at the person displayed on the screen. “He woke up? It’s too soon! Damn, and just when things were going in my favour, he had to show up!”

He was angry, and he made it clear when he raised his voice at his subordinates, using the order, “Have all the monsters focus on that man! Take him down!”

“All of them, sir? But—!”

“Our greatest threat stands there, and you want to ignore that?!” He demanded off them in a rough voice. He did not wait for a response, which did not come, and he issued the order, “Focus your attacks on him! Kill that bastard!”

“Y-Yes, sir!” His subordinates replied hastily.

They turned back to their keyboards and started pressing rapidly on the keys once more while their leader leaned back on his chair, staring fixedly at the screen in front of him. He swore vengeance on this man, and although he had wished to carry it out at a later date, it appears that he must carry it out now that the chance had presented itself.

The alien ship slowly shifted its position to aim its cannons at a downward angle and start firing blasts at him. Asura remained rooted to the spot and watched the blasts headed towards him with an almost casual way, as if he was being entertained by it.

The watching crowd of onlookers saw the launched attacks and began shouting at the lone warrior to get to safety.

“Is that… Asura…?” Maxwell asked, blinking in confusion.

“What the hell is that guy doing?!” William exclaimed with a shocked look on his face

“Look out!” Natsu shouted at him from where he stood.

“Get out of there, Asura!” Fred shouted at him hurriedly.

“Withdraw dammit!” Maxwell yelled in a desperate voice.

Gram, who was nearby, also noticed his arrival and narrowed his eyebrows and thought, “What is he up to?”

Their warning fell on deaf ears because Asura was rearing to face the barrage of attacks head on without hesitation. Then the blasts came down and struck where he stood, exploding on the spot with a bang that shook the ground and sent wild blowing winds in all directions. The building that he came out from under had its glasses smashed to pieces and cracks appeared on its structure in all places.

The blasts continued to rain down, explosions continued to occur, and the wind blew wildly in all directions. The ground cracked in several places, even to the point of splitting the land away from the sheer force of the barrage. Clouds of smoke covered the entire place while the people cowered to the best of their abilities to survive and not get blown away by the strong wind.

“Man! What an attack!”

“It’s relentless!”

“That man’s an idiot! He stood his ground like some great guy!”

“It’s suicidal!”

Many of them shouted words in a similar manner about Asura’s decision to stand his ground and face the mass of attacks unflinchingly. Almost a minute later, the barrage came to a stop when their commander issued the command to cease the attack. Everyone watched the cloud of smoke drifting throughout the place, trying to spot the sign of life that used to be there, which should have been snuffed out by their destructive attack.

The smoke slowly cleared and everyone watched in anticipation as the shadow of a person appeared from behind the smoke. Once that cleared away, Asura was revealed to be standing there, and he appeared to be completely unharmed. It was as if the earlier attack had no effect on him at all, and he only moved his hands now to clear away the dust that had fallen on his clothes.

“H-H-He’s… alive?!”

“No way…!” Natsu exclaimed, his eyes widen with shock. “B-But how…?”

Just then, there was a burst of wind as Vikram arrived at their location after seeing the attacks being focused there.

“What’s going on, guys? What just—?” He began and paused, noticing Asura standing several meters away and was amazed to see him. “Wow! Asura! What’s he doing here? I thought he was out cold or something!” Then, he spotted the whereabouts of the location and was confused to find them being at the place that Asura stood upon. “Um… What…?”

As Natsu moved over to explain, Gram stared fixedly at Asura and thought, “He didn’t just dodge; he dodged those attacks without a single scratch on him! He’s completely fine, but… how? That was a devastating attack! Even the building behind him is in shambles! How did he—?”

His thoughts were interrupted when the monsters suddenly let out an enormous roar simultaneously. The people in the control room, who were initially shocked to see him alive, quickly ordered their units to focus all their attention upon him. Thus, they charged at him wildly while completely ignoring the enemies that they had been fighting up-until-then.

“If that’s all you got, then I’m disappointed.”

Holding out his hand, he summoned his Hero Weapon, which was a Golden Trident, that materialised out of thin air. He gripped it firmly with his hand and focused his attention on the detail of which the weapon was forged with. It was long, smooth and held a sense of balance that he would normally feel from holding his swords. At the same time, he felt a comforting feeling coursing through him as though the weapon was comforting and supporting him from the shadows.

“I like this weapon. Although I never wielded a trident in my life, this is still a weapon worth using!”

With that, he channelled his Energy Force into the weapon and it started to glow brightly. Then he took aim at the oncoming monsters and hurled the trident with immense force. The Golden Trident soared through the air at super speed and pierced into the first monster before continuing to pierce a few more on its sharp three blades, but it did not end there.

The weapon continued to fly forward, piercing other monsters, and mowing down any monster that got in its path. Soon, a building came into focus and it smashed in it, still carrying the many dead bodies of the monster pierced by its three blades. The moment the impact occurred, a huge explosion of dust occurred and spread everywhere while, at the same time, the building slowly cracked in various places before it came tumbling down like some kind of mountain.

“W-W-What the?!” Vikram exclaimed, appaled by what he just witnessed. “He brought the building down!”

“N-No way…!”

“Not only that, but he also killed all the monsters in front of him in a straight line!” Vikram said, noticing the line that broke the circle formation that the monsters were in just now.

The watching humans were utterly shocked by two things that just occurred in front of them; one being that Asura launched his Hero Weapon and killed many of the monsters in a line, and two was the destruction of the building. They never expected the building to break and tumble down like a house of sticks. This feat made them realised the incredible amount of power applied by the hero who wielded the Golden Spear.

Asura, however, was not having the same feelings like them because he himself was amazed by what just happened.

“Oops! I used too much force!” Asura said quietly, lamenting at the destruction of that tall building in the distance. Then he sighed and muttered, “At least I didn’t blast them, otherwise, that would’ve caused even more mess than this.”

The monsters turned to look at the large number bodies splattered everywhere in the distance and then turned to face him, giving him a truly fearsome look. It did not affect Asura in the last bit, the watching human spectators shrunk back in fright and almost got the compulsion to run away.

Understanding that the monsters were intimidating him, he gave them a deadly look of his own and muttered, “If eyes can kill, you’d all be dead by now, but before that—!”

He suddenly vanished on the spot and reappeared standing in front of the place that his weapon was at, pierced into the still remaining foundation metallic structure of the tall building that used to be there. All around him, lifeless bodies lay littered on the ground surrounded by the shambles of the destroyed building. His eyes roamed the destroyed place and silently prayed for their deaths before returning his attention back to his weapon.

“I’ll be taking this back,” he said in a quiet voice.

He placed his hand on the handle and pulled out the trident from its place, letting the pierced monster bodies with a drop with a mundane thud to the ground. Suddenly, this movement became the trigger that caused the monsters to roar wildly and charge in a mad dash of fury and rage.

Asura remained silent, with his hair covering his face as the mass of monsters rushed towards him at a super speed. When the monsters were a few meters away was when he decided to act. He skilfully handled the trident, spinning it rapidly and he spun around to face his enemies, and as he did, he swung his spear in an arc towards the left side with one hand while his eyes glinted with a dangerous light.

In an instant, an immense wind was unleashed and, like a storm, it blasted its way towards the monsters and sent them flying away. The ground, and the air around them shook violently by the unleash of such an incredible force and destruction, as many buildings suffered great casualties and collapsed to the ground.

“I’m sorry, but I have a duty to perform,” said Asura in a quiet voice, his eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint in them.

He momentarily remained in that position for a second before swinging his trident around in an arc towards the other side. Once again, an enormous wave of wind was unleashed and it stormed through the battleground, sending monsters flying and causing the ground, and the air to shake with great intensity while buildings came down. The heroes, who were at a distance, cowered and hoped like they had never before that they would not end up like the monsters.

As the wind slowed down and the dust settled, a view of the battleground came into focus and a stark wasteland could be seen before the place Asura stood at. The scenario was much clearer than before with the destroyed buildings no longer there to cover the land from the direct rays from the sun. In a way, it was a beautiful scenario of hope descending to the surface, but from another perspective, it was the sight of a demon surrounded by a mass of destruction.

The humans, both from this world and those summoned from another world, slowly rose from their hiding sports and looked at the scene before them with eyes wide open, a look of shock on their faces. None of them could believe that Asura, who they knew nothing about and thought was just a magician from another world, could have the power to clear away the battleground with just two swings of his trident.

Gram stared at Asura with a horrified expression on his face as he stared at the destruction. He was not shocked by the amount of destruction, but by the overwhelming power that seemed to have no bounds or depth. The prince from another world was of a royal lineage, who were all powerful in their own right, and he was no different.

From a young age, he demonstrated potential that surpassed the previous generations and, as he grew over the years, he demonstrated capabilities that separated him from the other children. Everyone praised and looked up to him, giving him special treatment that made him feel special, as if he was someone that they cannot reach. He felt proud, and he was right to feel that way because of the royal lineage he came from.

So, seeing a man, whom he believed was a mere commoner, surpass him, not only in will and strength, but power as well had left a stark impression. It hurt his pride massively, and his ego was enraged that such a thing was actually possible. He was, after all, born from a royal lineage full of powerful warriors, and he fully believed it was his birthright to be next.

“Was that magic? Wind Magic? Slicing Magic? What the hell is it?!” He yelled, sounding really desperate, startling everyone nearby. Then he started to mumble, “What sort of drinks did he take, what kind of training did he do, what sort of environment did he live in?! What is his secret?!”

“Oi! You’re annoying!” Vikram said, eying him with an eyebrow raised in confusion. He turned back to face Asura and muttered, “But, man, I didn’t realise that guy was this powerful!”

“Two swings…! In just two swings, he made the monsters fly away!” Maxwell asked, blinking rapidly in amazement.

“Yes, and the monsters are… dead…” whispered William, who turned to look at their rear to find a mass of monster corpses scattered on the ground while surrounded by the destroyed buildings.

“He’s indeed showing a side that we never expected,” said Natsu, a smile forming on his face as he was glad this man was their ally. “This is really amazing. He’s really powerful!”

“He’s too powerful!” Maxwell commented, and for some reason he eyed him with a look of distrust on his face. “I don’t like this.”

Natsu turned to him and asked, “What do you mean?”

“Normally, a person of this power usually ends up committing a grave crime and become a dictator because they believe themselves to be Gods,” said Maxwell, who was reminded of the past of his his world was positioned at. “A few years ago, a world war occurred and it was all because of a country ruled by a dictator. His intentions were to conquer the entire world with his overwhelming military force. It was utter chaos.”

“Eh?” Natsu asked, looking stunned.

Maxwell nodded and continued to say, “It’s true. He was a crazed lunatic, but he was genius, rising from the position of a soldier to becoming the dictator! He almost succeeded in making the world bow down to him before the other countries came together and fought him back.”

“I see,” said Natsu, coming to the understanding of what Maxwell was thinking. “So, you believe Asura is the same as the tyrant from your world?”

The Gundas Hero remained silent for a moment before saying, “Perhaps. It’s all written in his fighting style. Look around you. The destruction? He appears the type that doesn’t care for his surroundings, or the destruction he may create.”

“He did it to destroy the monsters in one sweet obviously!” Vikram said, walking over to them and joining their conversation. “It’s absurd to think of him as someone evil just because of his methods of fighting. True. He might’ve been a little over the top but he was literally surrounded by a wall of enemies! Do you think he had the luxury of fighting them one on one?”

“He should’ve done something to minimise the damage to the surroundings at the very lease if he had that much power,” replied Maxwell with a furious look on his face. “All this damage, and the costs it’ll bring isn’t cheap. If he’s a righteous man like you said, he’ll accept his mistake and pay for the compensation of destroying nearly as much as the monsters did.”

“You’re crazy! How on earth would he manage to do that in a world he doesn’t know anything about?” Vikram asked, shocked by the man’s statement.

Maxwell eyed him coldly and replied, “We are heroes, but that shouldn’t make us just brush off anything we do. If we cause problems, we must rectify it. If we committed a crime, we must be treated as criminals that are extremely dangerous and must be apprehended as soon as possible. No law should be bent, not for the citizens and definitely not for heroes.”

The look on his face was deadly serious as he turned back to look at Asura with the same eyes of distrust. The Sonic Hero looked at him for a moment before sighing and looking towards Asura as well while commenting about the Gundas Hero.

“Man, you’re too intense!”

★ ---- ★ - ★ ---- ★

In the spaceship, the three-eyed person watched the outcome of the battle with clenched fists. He had expected as much from the start, but to see it actually happen was something else. All of the warriors that came with him were instantly gone, killed brutally by the unbelievable attack that Asura launched.

“Sir… We don’t detect any signs of life from… our men,” said one person finally, making a distraught expression on his face and it was shared by his fellow comrades.

Their commander merely nodded his head, accepting it before he rose to his feet much to their surprise.

“It seems that I must face this man,” he said in a quiet voice and rose to his feet.

He faced them and showed them one of his rare smiles, a smile that was filled with sadness.

“We were very close to conquering this planet by defeating its strongest warriors, but it seems that was not to be. It’s okay. This can work in our favour as well, in my favour to be exact. My mission will be a lot simpler now to carry out, and you have your duties to fulfil. You do understand what must be done according to plan?”

They nodded with a resolute expression on their faces, and he smiled at them before saluting to them respectfully, which they returned in their turn. He may not seem them again in the future, but he was glad they were there and that they came this far. Turning his attention away, he focused his mind on what must be done and defeat the enemy that loomed over him for the sake of his Overlord.

“Sir, I am now on my way to start the mission you’ve given me. I hope to return to your side with victory in hand,” He muttered to himself in a firm voice and closed his eyes, determined to see his mission through to the end. A moment later, he teleported out of the control room, and the people began to prepare their ship for one final act, an act that they were willing to do for the sake of their comrades that were no longer with them.
