ARC 18: Chapter 604 - Lakshman vs. Lagron - Part 4

The Phoenix Titan and the Dragon Titans continued to lash out at each other in a heated close combat brawl in mid-air. Each hit they landed resulted in a wind that blew wildly everywhere as well as sending shockwaves that buffeted the watching spectators. Even the air seemed to be trembling from the impacts of the blows they dealt to one another.

After numerous punches, Lagron took two of Lakshman’s punches while grabbing his shirt front with both hands and shouting, “Dragon Discharge!”

In an instant, a lightning like attack suddenly burst out from Lagron and began zapping the unsuspecting Lakshman. He yelled out in pain as the lightning, once again, riddled his body relentlessly as his rival held him in by his shirt front. Then Lagron began descending and pushed Lakshman down, and they flew incredibly fast before Lagorn slammed Lakshman hard against the ground, causing it to crack and the ground to give way slightly.

The Dragon Titan let go of his opponent and suddenly began channelling energy into his arm, which soon began to release violent bursts of lightning. Then he pulled it back and unleashed it down on the ground where his rival lay. Lakshman saw the attack coming and quickly forced his slightly numb body to move out of the way, letting the punch land on the ground and cause a mighty explosion of energy that sent Lakshman flying away.

The Phoenix Titan soared through the air before he managed to spin his body around and land safely on his feet facing his rival, who had pulled his arm back and chased after him at high speed. As he reached him, Lagron began to unleash yet another barrage of fists and kicks at him with a furious look on his face. While Lakshman began backing away while dodging the attacks.

As several seconds passed by with Lakshman leading Lagron around the arena while avoiding his attacks, Lagron began very angry and shouted, “Stop trying to run and—!”

However, he did not complete his sentence because Lakshman, who had just landed on his feet after dodging yet another attack from his rival, suddenly surged with incredible power and charged forward to attack. Lagron was taken aback as the Phoenix Titan flew forward and dealt him several punches to his gut and face before grabbing his left arm and spinning him around like a ragdoll.

A stunned Dragon Titan could not react as Lakshman continued to spin him around like a top before hoisting him into the air and slamming him down hard against the ground. The heavy impact caused the ground to shake and sink a little around where Lagron had crashed. But the attack did not stop as Lakshman began to hoist him into the air and slam him down numerous times on the ground.

After repeatedly hoisting him up and slamming him down, Lakshman hurled him away from him before chasing after him at an incredible speed. Catching up to him, Lakshman began to unleash a barrage of fists and kicks that caused the Dragon Titan intense pain as he continued to make painful sounds. Finally, Lakshman landed on his feet, pulled his hands back and shouted the name of the technique out loud.

“Phonikalachalara!”

In an instant, a massive amount of energy gathered in between the palms of his hands, and he brought his hands forward to fire a massive wave of destruction directly towards his opponent. The wave completely enveloped the target before continuing to fly forward and slamming against the wall before a violent explosion occurred, which resulted in the wind blowing wildly around and multiple shock waves that shook the entire area.

The spectators cheered, especially his wives as they were proud that their husband was winning. However, Lakshman did not smile as he stood his ground and waited for the smoke to clear as he knew the battle was only going to get more intense from here on.

Several seconds later, the smoke slowly cleared and revealed Lagron slowly getting up to his feet while coughing blood a few times. Then he looked towards his ancient rival before holding his hand out to the side as if trying to summon something. Sure enough, there was a strange quiver in the air where he held his hand before the hilt of what looked like a sword that suddenly appeared out from where the quiver was occurring.

He gripped the hilt and pulled a sword out from it, and in doing so a strong wind and shock wave was unleashed on the arena. Lagron spun the sword around skilfully before placing it on his shoulder before looking smugly at his rival.

“Stop playing around and transform, fool! I’m getting bored!” Hr shouted at him.

Upon hearing that, Lakshman chuckled and replied, “You know that you’ll lose the moment I transform, right?”

“So what?” Lagron asked as if he did not care. “This is supposed to be a battle to decide who is the true winner and the strongest warrior between us! So, stop wasting my time and transform! I am not interested in the current you!”

To that, his rival sighed and replied, “Very well.”

Lakshman clenched his fists and began to yell, “AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!” as he began to surge with an incredible amount of power. Violent winds and numerous shock waves occurred from him powering up and as he triggered his transformation, there was a blinding light that caused everyone there to cover their eyes from the sheer brightness.

A moment later, the light dimmed and disappeared, revealing the transformed form of the Phoenix Titan, Lakshman Chand. He stood there with his golden-red hair blowing behind him with the wind and stared at his rival through his golden-red crown with wings shaped eyes.

“I’ve transformed like you asked. Happy?” Lakshman asked him coolly.

“Yes,” replied Lagron with happiness. Then he snorted and said, “But I have to wonder… are you going to fight me with your fists while I wield a sword? I don’t want you blaming me later for slicing you up.”

Lakshman chuckled at seeing his rival’s arrogance and turned to look up at his wives and called, “Tetra. Silvera. I need you.”

Upon being called by their husband, his two wives blinked with surprise before smiling with happiness. Like the rest of his wives, they were feeling helpless for not being able to help their husband in this battle. So, it made them feel good that he was looking towards them for help and gladly wanted to give him the best that they could.

Tetra and Silvera looked to each other and nodded in silent agreement before transforming into balls of light. They soared down to the arena, and Lakshman held his hands out to grab them as the two ladies transformed into their respective weapons; Tetra turned into the Phoenix Blade while Silvera transformed into the Demon Slayer.

“Alright! I’m ready!” Lakshman called to his rival.

Lagron grinned and suddenly surged with power as he kicked off the ground and flew towards his rival at an incredible speed. Lakshman took a fighting stance with his two swords and as he reached him and swung his sword down, Lakshman blocked the sword with the Phoenix Blade while swinging the Demon Slayer to cut his opponent.

As the enemy’s sword came swinging at him, Lagron shifted his body weight and swung to the right to evade the attack. Once he evaded it, he landed on his feet and spun around while swinging his sword in a wide arc. But the attack got blocked by Lakshman, who put both of his swords up for defence and was surprised when the force of the impact pushed him backwards while his feet got dragged on the ground.

Lagron corrected his posture and chased after him while swinging his sword with a grin on his face. Lakshman also charged forward while using one sword to block and the other sword to attack. As they met in the middle, the sound of metallic clangs intensified as the two warriors began to swing their swords at unimaginable speeds towards each other.

The Dragon Titan took the initiative by using his sword to strike at his opponent first, and Lakshman would block the attack like usual with either the Phoenix Blade or the Demon Slayer. Then he would retaliate by using his free sword, either the Phoenix Blade or the Demon Slayer at that time, to attack his opponent. However, Lagron would either dodge by stepping to the side or spinning his body while at other times he would simply pull his sword away to meet the attacking blade.

The swordsmen continued to battle each other before a violent release of each other’s energy sent them flying backwards. The moment they recovered; the Dragon Titan began to send slicing energy waves at his opponent. Lakshman would meet the incoming waves by channelling Weapon Force into the both of his weapons and destroying the slicing energy waves with ease before chasing after his rival.

As Lakshman drew nearer to strike his opponent, Lagron stabbed his sword into the ground and said, “Lava Wall!”

In that moment, Tetra shouted inside Lakshman’s head, “Lucky! Stop!”

Lakshman realised the sudden danger and stopped his movement, where his feet got dragged on the ground. At the same time, a magic circle appeared beneath where Lagron stood and expanded a few meters away. A second later, a burst of lava suddenly began to rise from the edges of the magic circle and soared very high into the air.

“Damn!” Lakshman groaned as he reached within centimetres of the rising lava before he leaped into the air and away. Then he shouted, “Slashing Blade! Shadow Slash!” and swung his swords towards the rising lava that seemed to surround his rival.

The two slicing winds of destruction soared towards the wall but seemed to do no damage to it at all. Once Lakshman landed, he heard his rival gloating from inside it.

“Would you look at that? My attack is stronger than yours!”

“That guy…!” Silvera said angrily inside Lakshman’s mind.

Lakshman aimed his hand at the tower of lava and said, “Maga Distrab.”

For a moment, nothing happened, and he quickly realised the wall of lava was not magical but the summoning magic was. However, as the magic circle was inside the wall, he may not be able to destroy it, and looking up, he was not sure how high the wall of lava was reaching.

At that moment, he heard his rival shout, “Lava Pulse!”

In an instant, a large ball of lava suddenly got expelled from the wall of lava and hurtled its way towards him. Lakshman was surprised, but he quickly sidestepped and let it fly away to hit the wall, causing the outer part to melt from the sheer heat of the attack.

Then he heard his rival shout, “Lava Barrage!”

He instantly realised something dangerous was coming. Sure enough, a volley of lava balls burst from the ball of lava and flew towards him. Lakshman began to react to each and every lava ball that flew at him by spinning around wildly and slashing away at the balls, which fell on the ground and burnt it. He continued to slash and dodge the incoming waves of lava balls that seemed to have no end to them.

“We have to charge in and stop him!” Tetra suggested.

“I’m about to do that,” her husband muttered in agreement. “Elemental Coated Armor!”

With the shout of the technique out loud, he was surrounded by a golden energy that formed around him like an outer shell like an armour. Then he kicked off the ground and flew towards the incoming wave of lava balls that were rapidly fired at him from the wall of lava. He magnificently sliced through the ones that were in his way and continued to fly straight towards the lava.

“Lucky!”

“What is he doing?!”

“He’s going to get hit by the lava!”

His friends were shocked and scared for his safety, while his wives watched with nervousness.

“Lucky, stop! You’ll get burnt by the lava!” Silvera shouted in his mind with worry.

“Don’t worry. I got it covered!” Lakshman replied to her with confidence.

As he neared the wall of lava, he channelled the Magic Force and activated his magic spells by saying them out loud.

“Burning Aura! Inferno Master! Flame Heart!”

He began to glow from the enhancements he gave himself with those spells that mixed in with his golden-red aura. Then he channelled a tremendous amount of Weapon Force into his swords and pulled them back before swinging them in with immense force in an arc at the wall of lava.

The force from the swing of his two swords caused the wall of lava to get cut with a horizontal open slit before Lakshman said, “Doppler!”

A small ball of light emitted from him, and it soared in through the slit open before it took his form. Lagron was startled to see the ball of light suddenly take the form of his rival and realised he was breached. As he made to attack him, the doppler Lakshman aimed his hand down at the magic circle that was keeping up the wall of lava and activated Maga Distrab.

In an instant, there was the sound of breaking glass as the magic circle was destroyed. A moment later, the lava wall suddenly lost its support and fell on top of them. Lagron got out of the way, and the doppler turned back into a ball of light and flew back to merge with his original self.

As the Dragon Titan flew through the air to avoid the collapsing wall of lava, he saw his rival chase after him and swing his sword while shouting, “Infinity Blades!”

In an instant, a magic circle appeared in front of him before numerous blades began flying out and soared straight towards their target. Lagron gritted his teeth and began to swing his sword at an incredible speed, destroying each and every sword that came at him.

At the same time, he heard his rival shout, “Multi-Cast: Raining Blades!” and saw multiple magic circles appear around him above before many swords flew through and soared at him.

He clicked his tongue and shouted, “Dragon Armor Energise!”

His dragon armour materialised in the direction the swords flew in from and blocked them. Many of the swords wedged themselves into the armour while others got destroyed by the impact as he continued to destroy the swords charging straight towards him.

“This is… annoying!” He shouted in annoyance.

Gripping his sword, Lagron dodged the incoming waves of swords and spun in mid-air with his sword in a full circle and when he came to a stop, his sword began to glow, and he shouted, “Lava Ray!”

As his sword glowed brightly, a light suddenly appeared around and formed like a ring. This was the light that covered the air that he had cut just previously by spinning in a 360 with his sword. A moment later, a powerful ray of light emitted from the ring of light that surrounded him and shot off in all directions. They destroyed the incoming waves of swords and continued on to where the magic circles had originated from and smashed into them, destroying the magic circles in the process.

He smiled in triumph when Lakshman suddenly appeared out of nowhere and kicked him in the chest, sending him hurtling down onto the ground with a heavy impact. As the Phoenix Titan soared down and landed gently, the Dragon Titan got back to his feet and sighed while looking irritably at his rival.

“That was a sneaky play to attack me so suddenly!” He complained.

“You played the same trick on me by conjuring out a wall of lava that I nearly ran into if I wasn’t careful enough,” replied Lakshman coolly. “You clearly hid the fact that your sword is a Contracted Spirit when I was under the impression that it was a normal sword.”

Lagron snorted and said, “You’re a fool for taking me lightly! I did say I’m not like my past self that lost to you! Besides, it’s just lava. What’s the deal? You would’ve been fine, fool,” replied Lagron without caring. Then he grinned and said, “But this is starting to get annoying to try and use strategy against the likes of you! Let’s settle this once and for all!”

Lakshman smiled and said, “Sure. Let’s do it!”

The Dragon Titan grinned and began to channel his sword with an immense Weapon Force that made it begin to glow and shake slightly with the power he was giving it. A moment later, it erupted a violent red light that shot off into the air as the sword continued to build up an immense amount of power.

Meanwhile, Lakshman held his swords out to either side and brought them towards each other in the centre and they began to glow the moment they made contact with one another as he shouted the magic technique out loud.

“Celestial Blade!”

Gripping the sword firmly in his hand, he raised it high in the air. In the next moment, he channelled his Weapon Force into the sword, which began to give off a brilliant light before a powerful blade of light erupted from its tip and soared high in the sky.

The two warriors looked towards one another with determined expressions on their faces before swinging their swords towards one another while shouting the respective technique of their attacks out loud.

“Dragon Slayer!”

“Celestial Shred!”

With the swing of their blades, both the red and blue lights moved towards one another and collided against each other in mid-air. Lakshman and Lagron were exerting their very best into the attacks and continued to channel their energy into the swords in order to triumph over the other. However, their power was matched evenly and as such, the blades of light did not budge even a centimetre and remained in a standoff.

It was then that Lagron gritted his teeth and began to roar as he began to power up even more than before and further fuelled the power of his blade. This suddenly tilted the shift in Lagron’s favour, but Lakshman was not done. He sensed his rival pushing forward with everything he got, which made him smile before he too began to surge with incredible power and further channelled his sword, which strengthened it.

With that, Lakshman began to push his sword forward while Lagron was slowly losing the tilt. He was desperately trying not to lose the ground, but with Lakshman pushing forward and him unable to keep up with the strength of his opponent, it was clear whose side was winning.

“Dammit!” Lagron yelled in frustration as he fought a losing battle.

He continued to fight against the blade of light that was slowly pushing him back. Lakshman sensed him fighting back and decided to end things in one swing, so he exerted more of his power into his sword and pushed the sword down as hard as he could at his rival.

The blade of light from the Celestial Blade swung down, pushing the blade of light from the Contracted Spirit weapon of the Dragon Titan and smashed into them. In an instant, a massive explosion with great power and intensity occurred, resulting in a tornado-like wind to appear in the arena as shock waves rocked the area.

“Woah!” Wolfenstine exclaimed as he lost his footing like the others and almost fell. “Too much power!”

“What intensity!” Priya exclaimed, looking in awe at the immense power released by her brother.

“Lucky…! He’s so going overboard,” remarked Marilia with a sigh by placing a hand on her forehead. “Well, I guess he takes after his mentor, I guess,” she added by referring to her late husband with a soft smile.

“Way to go, Lucky!” Cantia exclaimed happily, throwing her fist into the air triumphantly as she believed her husband had won.

“Don’t celebrate so early on,” said Sonia, not looking as enthusiastic as her.

“Huh? Why not?” Cantia asked, looking surprised. “Lagron lost! See? Lucky’s standing looking all cool, and Lagron is lying there; beaten!”

She pointed towards the arena, where Lakshman was indeed standing calmly with his single sword reverting into its two original swords. Whereas, Lagron was lying among the rubble from the destruction caused by the swords from earlier. To anyone, it was clear that Lakshman was the victor in this battle between the ancient rivals. However, not everyone there seemed to believe that and instead were starting to look worried.

“Don’t just use your eyes; use your senses as well,” said Sonia curtly and looked in Lagron’s direction. “I’m sense Lagron’s energy levels starting to rise again.”

“Yes, and not only that,” added Sumara gravely, who stood beside her. “It seems like something is happening to him.”

“Right. Something is definitely happening to him,” agreed Ondine. “I can sense it.”

“Me, too,” said Zen, looking worried.

“This feeling…! I don’t like it,” said Nara ominously.

“What’s wrong?” Marilia asked curiously.

“I… I’m sensing something… very odd from him,” stated Nara grimly.

“You’re right,” said Wolfenstine in agreement to his words, looking troubled. “Something feels very off about him.”

Dominic narrowed his eyes with concern and asked, “What is he up to?”

They all watched as Lagron slowly moved and groaned from the pain of being beaten in the sword battle. His sword lay beside him, motionless, but he did not retake it and instead slowly rose to his feet. Then he stood there, not looking at anyone and simply looking down at the ground. At first glance, he would seem to be tired, but those with deep senses could tell something was happening that was beyond what can be perceived with sight alone.

“I don’t like this feeling,” said Tetra inside her husband’s mind.

“I don’t like it either,” added Silvera uncomfortably. “It’s so… twisted…!”

Lakshman felt it as well and nodded silently in agreement as he heard his past-self say, “What is that idiot up to now? It’s clear he’s gathering energy that’s not normal for him. It feels so… foreign!”

“I think we’re about to find out,” said Lakshman responding to them.

The Dragon Titan seemed to be looking down at the ground as his aura slowly surrounded him in a slow manner. An ominous pressure began to get applied around him as the wind slowly began to blow faster and faster. All of a sudden, Lagron raised his head to face the sky and screamed as loud as he could which resulted in his voice echoing in the surroundings.

“YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!”

As he screamed, he began to surge with an incredible amount of power that seemed to not match the amount he had been releasing till now. It was strong, fierce and focused as it caused the wind to blow violently around them and sent shock waves in all directions. Lakshman got buffeted by the wind, but he remained unfazed by his rival’s sudden behaviour as he continued to watch him in silence.

“THIS IS THE BATTLE THAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!”

Lagron bellowed those words and as he did, the wind began to blow even fiercer than before and the shock waves suddenly multiplied. Once again, the Dragon Titan screamed, “YES!” at the top of his lungs excitedly.

“What the heck?!” Dominic exclaimed, looking shocked. “He’s releasing so much power!”

“Has he lost his mind or something to scream like that?!” Zen asked apprehensively.

Amaranda, however, replied with an unexpected answer.

“He is happy,” she said telepathically much to their surprise.

“He is… happy?” They asked in surprise.

She nodded and said telepathically, “Correct. He is extremely happy with the battle since he’s been hoping to fight his rival for an extremely long time. So, he is happy about getting the battle he always longed for.”

They looked at her in surprise before looking down at Lagron, who began to laugh energetically but it was not out of humour or a joke; it seems like a reaction to something else. It was then that they sensed something changed, and this made Amaranda smile softly and say simply two words telepathically

“It’s time.”

As they turned to her in surprise, they quickly turned back when they heard Lagron shout, “Asura! You’ve shown me your ultimate power, and I’m impressed! But! I am not done!” Then he grinned and announced, “It’s time to reveal the ultimate power of my ancestral blood!”
