ARC 15: Chapter 421 - Calamity vs Pillars – Part 1

Lagron held Lakshman over his shoulders and, not too gently, dropped him on the ground. As the Phoenix Titan hit the ground with a dull thud, Dominic broke out of the circle formed around their enemies and headed towards them with a worried look on his face.

“Look at you! You’re a mess and you’re supposed to be my rival! Pathetic!” Lagron commented, looking disapprovingly at his rival, who coughed and spluttered while managing to enter into a sitting position.

“Are you okay, Lucky?!” Dominic asked, worry written all over his face as he knelt before his friend.

Lakshman was bleeding from head to toe with multiple wounds, but what hurt him most was his gut because of the brutal beating he received from his enemy. It left him feeling dazed and slightly numb as he rubbed his stomach experimentally to see if there was any feeling left there. Judging from the lack of response he received, Lakshman understood that his stomach was in a mess and would need time to recover.

The Sword Titan seemed to be thinking along those lines as he watched his friend’s actions because, at that moment, he asked, “Should I heal you?”

As he spoke, he placed a hand on the hilt of his sword, but Lakshman quickly shook his head and smiled tiredly at his friend and replied, “It’s alright. Conserve your strength for him.”

“What?! How can you say that?!” Dominic exclaimed, looking alarmed.

Lakshman smiled softly and said reassuringly, “I don’t want my allies to weaken themselves for me. It’s my fault for underestimating him and his capabilities.”

To this, it was Lagron who snorted and said, “Really? You underestimated him?” Then, he cast his eyes around at much of the partially destroyed land near the Floria Kingdom and said, “I think you managed to stop him doing the worst, however,” and his eyes suddenly knitted together into a frown as he asked, “mind explaining to me what in the world a leviathan was doing here of all places?”

At his words, Lakshman looked up in surprise before forming a faint smile when he said, “I don’t know how, but it survived all this time and came to attack us, but I managed to defeat it without taking its life. I’m done killing for a lifetime.”

He spoke the past sentence in a tired voice, and his facial expression clearly stated how much he loathed what he had been doing all this time. Lagron narrowed his eyebrows as if he unimpressed by such a statement, but Dominic smiled energetically from hearing such heart felt wrods.

“That is a good resolve to make, Lucky,” said Dominic, gripping his friend’s shoulders tightly.

Lagron, on the other hand, turned away and said offhandedly, “Say what you want, but your sins won’t disappear.”

Lakshman had expected his rival to say that, and he firmly replied with, “Then, I will leave my fate to do away with my life, but until my time comes, I’ll make things right. It’s a promise.”

Lagron glanced at him once before turning to face the Calamity Titan and said, “For starters, why don’t you think of a way of stopping that idiotic brother of yours.”

Such words stung Lakshman in his heart because he knew them to be true. He turned to face in the direction of his brother, who seemed to be addressing the Nine Pillars of Power with a cool arrogant expression on his face.

“Welcome, everyone, to your demise,” he said and a twisted smile formed on his face. “Truth be told, I had been expecting you for a while now. After all, my allies are weak and could’ve been easily taken care off.”

“What? Weak?” Nara asked, his eyes widening in alarm. “You are callus enough to call your own allies—?”

“I can because I don’t consider them my allies,” replied the Calamity Titan with a cool smile formed on his face. “The only people I ever trust is my family. Well mainly my wife actually; not anyone that were supposedly related to me.”

While saying such words, he gave Lakshman a cold look that seemed to hate to see his very existence. Lakshman opened his mouth to reply when the Calamity Titan turned back to face Nara, who had spoken and missed the distraught expression that formed on his brother’s face.

“They weren’t weak! Your… supposed allies were strong!” Nara said, remembering how much difficulty the Testament of Greed and the Testament of Hatred gave him and his friend, Dominic.

“Speak for yourself,” said Lagron, so suddenly that they looked at him with surprise looks on their faces. He shrugged his shoulders and continued to say, “I mean, my opponent was so weak, I probably could’ve beaten him without lifting a finger!”

Lagron hated to praise anyone other than him and his rival, which angered Nara greatly. He was not the only one showing irritation towards Lagron as the feelings were shared by Ash, Tempest, Azar and Amaranda. Only the Calamity Titan seemed remarkably surprised by his statement and was taken aback when Lagron suddenly direction his attention at him.

“You should be able to remember me, Calamity Titan. I am, after all, famous!” Lagron said boastingly with a look of pride seen on his face.

The Calamity Titan remained silent for a moment as he recovered from his initial surprise and looked as if he was trying to remember them. Then, seeming to remember his foe, he tapped his right fist on his opened palm and spoke in a voice filled with surprise and humour.

“Oh! I remember you now! You’re that guy that always got beaten by the Phoenix Titan. Yes. You are such an embracement to your Dragon Clan! I mean, you were so shameless to keep trying no matter how many times you got… whopped!”

He spoke the last word in a dramatic manner and made a facial expression to match his behaviour before he burst into laughter. A tense silence hung over the Nine Pillars of Power, who all turned to look in the Dragon Titan’s direction, where his expression of horror and humiliation could be seen. Being looked down upon, then being called an embarrassment and finally being treated as a joke snapped Lagron’s mind as his anger surged to the surface like a volcano.

Lakshman sensed this, and he looked up at his rival and opened his mouth to shout, “Lagron, don’t—!”

There was a sudden surge of wild power that caused the ground to quake and made the wind blow wildly in all directions as the Dragon Titan kicked off the ground to fly straight at his enemy. He gritted his teeth with a maddened expression on his face as he screamed in broken words that carried a great amount of rage.

“DON’T. YOU. DARE. LOOK. DOWN. ON. ME!”

The Calamity Titan smiled serenely as he watched his enemy fly towards him at super speed and, when Lagron was upon him, he smiled and said, “Go down then.”

Extending his hand out towards him, the Calamity Titan activated his powers and swung his hand in towards the ground. In an instant, something forcibly changed the flight direction of the Dragon Titan, and he smashed forcefully against the ground. A deep groove was dug in the ground as he continued to move like that before coming to a stop right before the Calamity Titan’s feet.

“Before, I was mocking you. Now, I will look down on you,” said the Calamity Titan easily.

The dust cleared and showed the Dragon Titan lying on the ground with his face set sideways, one eye focused on him. There was a fury behind his eyes that made the Calamity Titan smile and lift his hand up, which made the Dragon Titan to rise off the ground to hover off his feet. He struggled to break free from the invisible force that controlled him.

“Or would you rather find it easier to look down at me? Either way, your situation doesn’t change in the slightest,” said the Calamity Titan with a smile that had overflowing evil intention behind it.

“W-What is this?! W-W-What have you done?!” Lagron exclaimed, glaring menacingly at his enemy.

“I’ve gotten stronger than you. That’s what I’ve done,” replied the Calamity Titan leisurely, holding his sword to the side as he prepared to cut his enemy down. “And, just so you know, I can defeat them with my eyes closed. Okay?”

As Lagron widened his eyes in shock, the Calamity Titan swung the black sword at him with the intention to claim his life. The other members of the Nine Pillars of Power had reacted, but they were much too slow in comparison to the movement of their enemy.

The sword came flying with intense dark power building in its blade and as he saw it coming towards him, Lagron quickly activated a spell by thinking, “Dragon Armour Energise!”

In an instant, a red dragon scale like shield appeared in front of the sword before it collided against it. For a moment, a great intense force was applied behind the sword as the Calamity Titan pushed it forward, but the scales like shield successfully stopped it.

As the Calamity Titan was surprised, Lagron quickly activated another magic spell in his mind by thinking, “Dragon Glare!”

A magic circle appeared in front of each of his eyes before a burst of laser erupted from out of them. The Calamity Titan saw this and quickly raised his hand up to cover his face, catching the lasers in his hand in the process. He felt a burning sensation in the palms of his hands before a small explosion occurred, causing smoke to spread around to cover his vision.

The Calamity Titan felt his hand sting with pain, but he ignored while straightening up only to take a blow to the side of his face. The heavy force of impact pushed him away for several meters, with his feet being dragged on the ground before he stumbled back. Standing tall, he stared back at the one that attacked him from out of the smoke while clutching the place he was hit.

The Dragon Titan walked out of the smoke with a grim expression on his face and said, “I’m awesome compared to you!”

As the Calamity Titan smirked, the Dragon Titan aimed his hand at him and unleashed a powerful energy wave of destruction. It soared quickly towards him and its target merely waved his hand to the side, causing it to divert away harmlessly. At the same time, the Dragon Titan appeared behind with his fist held back, which he brought forward while aiming for his enemy’s head.

Reacting in an instant, the Calamity Titan whirled around to the side, which let the punch fly through empty air. Moving with the flow, he extended his hand out and caught the Dragon Titan’s face with it, gripping it firmly and throwing him away as if he was throwing a rock. As he flew away, violent blue sparks erupted from the sky, and the Calamity Titan looked up to see the Storm Titan gathering a massive amount of lightning around him.

Tempest aimed his hand down at him and unleashed a powerful force of lightning that was far more disastrous than a natural one. However, before it could strike its target, the Calamity Titan activated a barrier that formed an invisible wall around him, which shielding him from the attack. It bounced off him and the surrounding area got zapped by the wild fluctuating lightning.

When the lightning died down, the Calamity Titan dropped his shield and aimed his hand in the air with a massive energy wave building in the palm of his hand. At that moment, the Sun Titan suddenly appeared behind him with his hand held back, which he hen extended forward to fire a brilliant fiery wave of destruction at his enemy. This too was easily dealt with by the Calamity Titan when he suddenly swung his arm around and seemingly split the wave in half.

“What?!” Azar exclaimed, his eyes widening in shocked disbelief.

Suddenly, the Calamity Titan moved forward and struck him squarely on his forehead, which promptly lifted him into the air. As he was about to fly away from the force of impact, his enemy grabbed him by his feet and swung him once in a full 360 degrees before hurling him into the air, his aim was towards the Storm Titan.

Tempest saw his comrade flying at him and quickly moved forward to catch him and saw that Azar was in a daze. At the same time, he saw a massive black pulsating wave of destruction soaring up at him, fired from the Calamity Titan. In an instant, he realised his enemy had thrown Azar at him to distract him so that he could destroy them both at the same time.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

The Storm Titan found himself in a difficult position because, while he could escape using his lightning form, but he cannot take his ally with him. The problem was that the two of them were elementally different, with Azar being a Fire Spirit and Tempest being a Lightning Spirit, which would not let their powers coincide with one another. The thought of throwing his ally away and escaping did not occur to Tempest as it was considered bad to abandon an ally in trouble.

As the destructive wave reached him, a magic circle suddenly appeared beneath their feet before they got surrounded by a brightly glowing light, which got consumed by the destructive wave as it flew into the air. At the same time, several meters away from the Calamity Titan, a magic circle appeared before a bright glowing light occurred and quickly died down to reveal Tempest and Azar standing, a look of surprise on Tempest’s face as he found himself on the ground without knowing it.

“W-What just—?” he began to ask.

“Be careful,” said the telepathic voice of the Magic Titan, who was holding her staff firmly with one hand, whose glow died after briefly being activated. After receiving a word of “thank you” from Tempest, she turned her attention towards the Calamity Titan and aimed her staff at him before telepathically saying, “We will take you down no matter the cost.”

The Calamity Titan, who heard her strong word in his mind, smiled evilly and replied with, “Brave words, but I can’t help but notice the one who’s saying them is a person that’s mute and blind! I don’t know if you expect me to be afraid by your words because I’m not. I mean, how do you expect me to be afraid of a handicapped person like you?”

Those were purposeful provocation words that he was used to using in order to make his opponents lose their cool, become enraged and fight without thinking. So, he did not think much of Amaranda, who was blind and mute, but he was slightly surprised when a smile formed on her face as if she found his words humorous.

“That is funny,” she replied, her voice full of amusement, “however, I would like to ask you a question. Ever heard the saying ‘looks can be deceiving’?”

The Calamity Titian blinked once in surprise just as the Magic Titan tapped the ground with her staff, which began to glow in a bright light. At the same time, the ground beneath her enemy got covered by a magic circle that emanated a great deal of power. Before the Calamity Titan could do anything, an intense gravity occurred and it pulled him down with such force that he smashed heavily on the ground.

He lay there, grunting in pain and the struggle of trying to break free from this mind-blowing gravity. With a wave of her staff, the ground around the Calamity Titan converged upon him and tightly locked his hands and legs in place. Once that was done, he was forcibly lifted into a sitting position with his face contorting from the pain of the gravity still pulling him down. The area around them shook from the intensity of the gravity force applied by the magic spell.

Then, several other magic spells appeared and vines appeared out of the magic circle, wrapping themselves around him before heavy lightning began zapping his body. His body pulsed with intense pain as lightning thundered his body without mercy and, not wishing to scream, he firmly gritted his teeth and closed his eyes to not let the pain get the best of him. He was a proud warrior, who is confident in his skills and power, and so allowing himself to scream in pain would disrupt the image he had of himself.

For several seconds, a stunned Calamity Titan remained like that while receiving the intense lighting force, but he just about had enough. It was not powerful enough to keep him there permanently because, at that moment, he gritted his teeth tightly and clenched his fists to activate a powerful energy force. His body glowed brightly until a flash of light occurred that quickly swept in all directions as wild blowing winds and shock waves were unleashed with the dust rising to cover their view.

It swept forward and buffeted against al of them, destroying all magic spells currently active on the field. This included the magic spells that were inflicting quite a bit of damage on the Calamity Titan. Once the dust cleared, the Calamity Titan appeared standing still with a furious expression on his face as his eyes stared at the Magic Titan.

“You got me by surprise, but that won’t happen again,” he said in a low quiet voice, audible enough for her to hear him.

With that said, he extended his hand forward and beckoned her towards him. In an instant, like something controlling her against her will, she lifted slightly off the ground and flew towards him while being unable to resist. Within a matter of seconds, she came to stop a few meters from him while being hoisted in mid-air.

“A crippled person should’ve stayed out of this,” he said finally, gathering a deadly amount of energy into his hand and aiming it directly into her face.

“Don’t!” Lakshman said sharply when Dominic, Nara and Sevedant were about to make their move with Ash ready to follow behind.

“Lucky, she’s in danger! Look!” Dominic said desperately, pointing at the obvious situation facing them.

“I know that, but believe in her, Dom! She’s the Magic Titan! I know for a fact she’s preparing something. Can’t you see the magic she is getting ready to use?”

“Mmm… True. I sense it. A flow of power. Different from the rest,” said Sevedant, nodding in understanding as he finally understood what was happening.

It was Nara, who could not understand what they were talking about, burst out angrily by saying, “I don’t care! She needs our help, and I’m going to do it!”

Without another word, he kicked off the ground and flew high into the air to fly towards them at high speed. Dominic, who glanced at his friend flying away and the friend kneeling behind him, he shrugged his shoulders and took off after the War Titan.

“Nara! Dom!” Lakshman called, but they continued to fly to help the Magic Titan regardless of his calling them back.

They flew as fast as they could, but time was against them as the Calamity Titan prepared the attack to decimate Amaranda completely. The Magic Titan, on the other hand, while being unable to do anything in her current state of dangling off the ground, she was not helpless as she was focusing her magic into one spell that could save her life. So, as soon as the Calamity Titan began to bring his arm forward in slow motion, she activated her spell while concentrating hard on the one thing that could save her.

A magic circle appeared in between the Calamity Titan and the Magic Titan before a flash of light occurred, which momentarily surprised the Calamity Titan into closing his eyes and not releasing the attack. A moment later, he reopened his eyes once the light died down and found himself facing, face-to-face, with the Dragon Titan.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing to my woman?!” Lagron exclaimed loudly, his face contorted into a furious look that surpassed all the anger he previously had.

Without warning, Lagron pulled his fist back, gathered a tremendous energy in it and struck it into his enemy’s gut. The Calamity Titan’s eyes widened in shock as the pain seemed to rattle his entire body, which made his hand slacken on his energy and made it disperse harmlessly. Lagron continued to move with the flow by hammering his fists into his enemy’s face and chest multiple times in quick succession before delivering a powerful uppercut to his jaw.

The Calamity Titan flew several meters into the air before he rolled his body around and forcibly stopped his flight. He remained hovering in mid-air and glared menacingly down at them with a furious look on his face. He put his hand to either side and instantly created two large energy balls, which be brought to the centre and merged them to form a larger energy ball and, as he exerted his power, a violently black wave of destruction erupted from the black sphere of power and soared towards them at super speed.

On the ground, the Dragon Titan quickly put his hands together and began gathering a tremendous amount of energy, which took him merely few seconds. Once ready, he began to chant the name of the spell in rising volume and brought his hands forward to unleash the wave at the final note into the sky.

“Ru-shan-kara!”

A massive red wave of destruction erupted from between the palms of his hands and flew high into the air, straight towards the oncoming black wave of destruction. The two waves collided in mid-air and its casters exerted all they had into their waves to push them towards their enemy. This turned out to make the energy waves evenly matched, resulting in the forces going violently out of control and exploded, resulting in a flash of light before a large spherical destruction light began sweeping the area.

The Calamity Titan merely flew away from it while Amaranda activated her magic to cast a barrier to surround the spherical destruction, stopping it in place. Activating another spell, the destruction ball flew high into the air and disappeared into the clouds, not to appear ever again. The wind quieted down, the shock waves subsided and the violent tremendous they felt from the ground lessened until everything returned to normal.

“Dammit, Lagron! Looks what you’ve done!” Nara exclaimed, wearing an irritated look on his face, landing beside them along with Dominic. “This whole place is nearly destroyed!”

A large meteor crater like shape was left behind by the spherical destruction on the ground, making the only physical evidence of the destruction it had brought. Lagron, who could not see it since he was on the ground, raised an eyebrow at his ally’s comment and replied in a sarcastic voice.

“I’d like to see what you would’ve done in that situation!” He said and when Nara opened his mouth to reply, Lagron quickly stifled him by saying, “Don’t give me excuses of ‘I was on my way’ or ‘I would’ve done it differently’ because they are just excuses! Face reality, idiot!”

Nara stared at him with an annoyed look on his face before shaking his head and turning to Amaranda to ask, “Are you alright?”

Amaranda smiled at him and telepathically replied with, “Yes. Thank you for asking.”

Lagron got very irritated by this and said, “Don’t thank them! Thank me! I saved you!”

“I know you would save me,” she said, neglecting to let him know that she was the one who summoned him first to save her. Nevertheless, she was grateful for him and stood on tiptoes because he was taller than her to kiss him on the cheek, which made his expression soften, and she said, “Thank you.”

Far away from them, Lakshman was surrounded by a green light as the Restoration magic spell, which he activated, began healing his wounds and slowly restored his energy. While that was happening, he, Sevedant and Ash watched the scene with expressions similar to that of relief as the outcome was good.

“Did you see that coming?” Ash asked, turning her attention towards the Phoenix Titan.

Lakshman shrugged and said, “A woman is most dependent on the man she loves and trusts. For her, it’s Lagron and for my wives, that would be me.”

“Wow…” muttered Ash, slowly turning to look at her master curiously and thought, “Maybe, for me it’s my master? Mmm. He’s my master so I never really thought of him in that way, so maybe someone I might love in the future? That would be wonderful.”

“Interesting,” said Sevedant in a quiet voice, looking intently in the direction of Amaranda and the others, completely oblivious to what was going through his pupil’s mind.

At that moment, the world began to shake violently as a tremendous amount of power was felt coming from the sky. They turned to look up and saw the distinct form of the Calamity Titan, hovering in mid-air while radiating violet-red aura that surrounded him. The energy he was releasing was intense, which caused the wind to blow wildly and sent shock waves in all direction while the ground shook violently all around them.

“I hope you have rested and felt great about yourselves after thinking you beat me once,” his voice said, carrying to them from all sides that rang with arrogance and power. “Know that all of this is just my warm up act. Let us now begin the real battle of powers and show me whether you Nine Pillars of Power are a match to a mighty being like me!”

“Calamity Titan! You’re a sore loser!” Azar shouted, irritated by overconfident his enemy sounded.

“No. I am no loser. I am the Transcendent Calamity Titan!” Their enemy said, surging wildly with power that could be felt by the inhabitants of the Human Continent, “I will show this world that I am a man not to be trifled with! UUUUURRRRRRAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!”

As he began to scream, an intense pressure befell them, making them grit their teeth and clench their hands tightly. He extended his hands out and tightened his muscles as he exerted his powers, activating the Force Control in the process. In an instant, the ground cracked everywhere they and began splitting apart as lighting began erupting from all sides. A moment later, they felt themselves hovering off the ground, or that the ground seemed to move away from their feet.

Lakshman was the first to realise what was going to happen and activated the Telepathy spell to say, “Everyone! Activate your strongest barrier spells! He’s about to destroy this entire place!”

The others were a little taken aback by his proclamation and Lagron voiced their doubts by telepathically saying, “How can you be sure of what he’s doing?

“We don’t have the time to argue! Just do as I say and live!” Lakshman retorted, anger and fear evident in his voice, which surprised them.

He stopped Restoration spell in mid-healing and clapped his hands together and said, “Multi Cast: Reinforce!”

In an instant, several layers of barriers formed around him like a solid invisible wall. Seeing this, Sevedant pierced his sword into the ground and placed his hands around it to cast a barrier around them all. Ash, following the leader of her master, quickly activated her powers, which created the Elemental Form of the being of her Sacred Spirit, which converged on all her sides to form into a ball of defence for her.

Tempest immediately encased himself in a lightning field barrier that surrounded him and Azar did the same with his fire, which formed like a fire ball with him encased inside of it. Dominic activated his sword, which surround him and Nara with swords that materialised out of thin air. Lagron was the only one left, with Amaranda standing beside him, who did not activate the barrier spell because he was still unconvinced of his rival’s advice.

“Man, you are silly to follow his blind order!” Lagron said, and raised his hand into the air before firing a powerful energy wave at his enemy.

The wave soared high into the air and almost reached where the Calamity Titan was hovering when the wave suddenly stopped in mid-flight and split into several different waves. They soared around and rained down on them, causing Lagron to instantly activate his barrier spell to protect him and her from the falling waves and the resulting explosions.

“Damn! He formed a forcefield around himself!” The Dragon Titan exclaimed, looking up with a frustrated look on his face.

At that moment, they all heard the loud voice of the Calamity Titan scream, “Death by Annihilation!”

The technique name instantly made the Dragon Titan’s eyes widen with shock, and he said, “Oh no! Amaranda! Active your barriers as well! Quick!”

As they intensified the barriers protecting them, the pressure around them thickened far more than before, causing them to shiver as a strange sense of fear settled in the pits of their stomach. At the same time, a small black pulsing ball of darkness materialised several meters in the air. The flow of its energy was in chaos as it could not sustain the massive energy loaded into it, which resulted in the forces going wild and exploding.

An enormous explosion occurred, causing the wind to blow wildly with extreme force in all directions and shock waves that buffeted everything in its path. The black sphere of destruction quickly spread in all directions until it reached the sky and caused a flash of white that blinded everything, making it impossible to see what was happening.

The entire world felt that power, and the people shuddered in feeling the fear for their lives, thinking that the world might get destroyed. The world survived, but the flash was so bright that the populace of the other continent caught a glimpse of it and stared, horror faced, as they wondered what was happening at its origin.
