Adeline: Defenders are just like soldiers but affiliated to the adventurer's guild. That way, they can be employed as soldiers by all camps and in every war. Searchers are those who take on requests to find things, it could be specific items or recipes. All the researchers fit in this category. Questers are specialists when it comes to answering detailed demands of all types. They are jack of all trades but depend on the demand. Trainers are mostly those from other jobs who are retired and offer their services to transfer their knowledge to the youths. The greatest trainers are even hired by armies! But the best one is the delvers!
Shen: Let me guess, is it the one you wish to become?
Adeline: That's right! It refers to the ones adventuring inside the dungeons! You make money fighting monsters and finding treasures while exploring incredible fantastical landscapes! It is the dream job of all who start on the path of adventurers!
Shen: Hm? Do you mean that you can't just become a delver right away?
The young priestess sighed before she explained:
Adeline: No. Unlike the other four, delvers laws are strict. They don't let just anyone in the dungeons, you need to first prove your ability to survive inside. Most beginner adventurers start as Defenders or Questers and only after having earned enough experience do they take the exams to get their delver's licenses.
Shen: An exam?
Adeline: Yes, they measure your abilities and those of your party members. Ah! But don't worry! I have trained a lot and am capable of passing it!
Shen chuckled and kept discussing warmly with the girl while not really listenning anymore. He was receiving mental messages from Atem.
Atem: Tempest detected some...nuisances.
Shen: How many?
Atem: Exactly? 24. It is likely due to our little display of wealth at the establishment.
Shen: That's expected, i guess. We had no choice though. Well, since we attracted the trash, we need to dispose of it. Have Tempest go take a leak and come with me, i want you to chat magic with her.
Atem: Yes, Master.
At the same time, Tempest said aloud:
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Tempest: Imma take a leak, you guys move on, i will catch up.
Shen: Ok, cya.
And that's how Tempest left the group and went to meet the pursuers.
It did not take that long for him to be surrounded by the twenty four men. One of which he recognized as the establishment's entry sentinel.
???: Kukuku, I bet you did not think we would go after you? Give us everything you have and we will let you keep your puny life, dog.
Tempest: One, I am a wolf. Two, you guys don't need to give me anything, you're all dead.
The wolfman sprinted so fast that not a single man managed to catch sight of him, not even a blur. before they could react, he was in front of the sentinel and sent a punch to his stomach, creating a hole in it and instantly killing the wannabe robber.
Next, he went to the right and began to punch the thugs to death. One punch, one death and a lot of blood spilled on the road. Only after the tenth one were the thugs beginning to flee. Ten people had been slaughtered in seconds after all. The time it took for them to process the situation, ten had died. Now, fourteen remained. and they were running in different directions.
As he saw them, the wolfman laughed to the skies.
Tempest: I certainly did miss the hunting!
Then, he began to run after them one by one and killing them with his fists. Once he had killed them all, he brought their bodies in a pile and pointed his palm towards it. Blue magic circles surrounded his hand while the pile of bodies turned to ice. He closed his hand in the form of a fist and the ice cracked. Then it exploded in particles of cold mist.
All dead, no traces left... Or wait. No. A lot of traces left. Blood, organs and bone fragments were all over the road. Only the wolfman who stood in the middle of it all was perfectly clean. he began to walk away to rejoin the group while whistling.
Tempest: This was not even worth a warm-up but i might have missed this more than i thought.
Adeline: ...Is it alright to leave him alone and go on?
Atem: Don't worry, he is strong.
She did not seem to be reassured.
Shen: What are you scared about?
Adeline: Well...There is banditry in this kind of mid-rural areas so...
Shen: Even less reasons to worry then. If you want to prey on a wolf in a forest, you need to be prepared to become his prey too.
Adeline: What?
Atem: It means he will come back safe, miss Adeline. You have no reasons to worry. Instead, how about we continue our previous discussion about magic. I find your abilities very peculiar.
Adeline: Uh? Ah, yes, that is because as a priestess, my magic comes from my faith.
Atem: Oh? Not from the natural surroundings or yourself but faith? Could you elaborate on this?
Adeline: Hmm. It is about believing and receiving in return of the belief? It is difficult to explain.
Atem: No worries then for we have a lot of time until the capital. I am most please to finally have a companion to discuss magic with and would love to exchange more theories with you.
Adeline: Eh? Ah. Uh, yes, of course. I would love that too.
Five minutes and some later, a wolfman joined back with the group. He waved to them as he smiled and said:
Tempest: I'm back!
He was greeted with the smile of the priestess who greeted him back and the angry glares of the other two who had sent him each a mental message.
Atem: You have blood on your teeth, you dumb dog!
Shen: I told you to be careful! You have blood on your teeth! Clean it!
He sent them both a message back as he licked his teeth with a grin on his face:
Tempest: Sorry, sorry, I forgot.
