CH. 75

The Karvu soldiers were being burnt alive. None could escape. It was the perfect attack against many weaker foes. A pure and mighty are of effect spell that devastated all.

Shen, still sitting on that stone turd, looked at the massacre. Raging flames were everywhere. And silently, slowly, a man exited from them and faced him. The Archbishop was in front of him. He had heard of this man of course. Who hadn't? The leader of the cult of Fire who believed that everything should burn but themselves... Fanatics of arsons. And strong oens at that.

He had been resigned to his fate for some time now so he asked without a care:

Shen: Why have you come?

Archbishop Ash: Amithaba. I received word from my God.

Shen: ...And what did he say?

Archbishop Ash: It said. It said to bring two men somewhere. You are one. He is the other.

Shen: Why? It doesn't make sense. How did you even know to come here?

Archbishop Ash: It told me. I merely obey.

Shen: ...Aren't you going to help your comrades?

Archbishop Ash: Do you think that they need it?

The answer was 'no' because they clearly did not need help.

...

General Kir managed to stabilize himself mid-air. He had been sent quite far away. He looked back there and was ready to go until he saw that the man had pursued him. How unlucky did he have to be? This was supposed to be a simple assisting/protecting mission. And now, he faced three legendary beings!

One of those three was now facing him mid-air, a few meters away. He was looking at him with a very steady gaze. Facing this kind of opponent, General Kir had no illusions. If he didn't give it his all, he would die. As he thought so, fire began to spread from all over the ground. His troups were being burnt alive.

While sacrifices was obvious, dying like so, uselessly, pointlessly, was not. He clenched his teeth. They were still his people. He would fight today. Until he could no more. For his glory, and for the glory of the Empire of dragons!

General Kir: Tsunami.

Wurm: Stone-eye.

Stolen novel; please report.

They both activated their Domains. From behind Kir, Giant water waves began to appear and savagely move forwards. From behind Wurm appeared a small eye carved from stone. As the eye's pupils looked at the many waves, they instantly were stopped and turned to stone. At the same time, the eye cracked and disappeared.

Wurm's Domain was a one-time use kind of Domain. It could turn one thing, corporeal or not, into stone, without regards. It turned the opponent's Domain to stone.

Wurm: Fight me, fish.

General Kir: Tch. You damn snake!

General Kir's sabre began to surround itself in raging waters and as he moved forward, Wurm followed. From there, their swords began to clash. With every connecting slash, one of the snake's engravings eyes blinked and a patch of skin or armor of Kir turned to stone. Whatever the snakes looked at would petrify.

As long as the fight went on, Kir would die as a stone statue and he had no way to beat a legendary mercenary quickly. His fate was sealed.

...

Not too far but not too close, a whole different battle was taking place. Da On Kai was facing his opponent with a stern face. Even if he won here...What a sad truth! As he was pondering on what to do, the woman spoke:

Taïna: Be a good boy and let yourself be capture, m'kay~?

He chuckled. As if he would let himself be caught. Indeed, there was no way he could survive a fight with those three. He was not that powerful. Shen would survive once more. And he would have to flee. But he would come back for that man's head. Once he grew stronger.

From his long sleeve, a talisman escaped. It was his personnal door. As he was ready to activate it and escape, the woman activated her domain:

Taïna: Cage.

In a circular pattern of a dozen kilometer in radius, giant metal tubes began to appear and create a ball shape enclosed space. This was her Domain. It had no attacking or defending abilities. Not even supporting ones. Its sole ability laid in the fact that it prevented anyone from entering or exiting it. Unless destroyed of course but no one ever managed to.

At that point, Da On Kai's talisman failed to activate. He gazed at the sphere in which he was. Cage...Truly a fitting name. He took back the talisman inside his sleeve. He would have to kill her first if he wanted to escape.

As he decided so, he tore his sleeves. On his right and left wrists were contraptions. There were rectangular caskets the size of his forearm with a very small exit towards his palms. Those contraptions had many engravings upon them. They were his pride.

He put his arms forward towards his opponent and from those contraptions, talismans began to exit by the dozens. They began to surround the woman who observed the sight.

Then, Da On Kai began to use them as a medium for his own spells.

Barrier of the Tortoise!

Barrier of the Dragon!

Barrier of the Tiger!

Barrier of the Phoenix!

Great Barrier of the Four Cardinal Beasts!

The woman saw four beasts appear on four sides of her. A tortoise, a dragon, a tiger and a phoenix. Once they did, space itself began to react and some kind of wall began to entrap her.

This far from the end though as talismans kept pouring out of Da On Kai's contraptions. They flew towards the formation and began to affix themselves on the invisible wall, coating it. After mere moments, the entire barrier was covered in them.

Da On Kai was smiling broadly.

He snapped his fingers and a loud explosions happened. The fist spell was his greatest defensive ward. The second spell was in fact a very basic and simple one.

Property Inversion

It turned everything into its opposite. While it didn't seem like much, it was in fact incredibly powerful if well-used. And to a Master of defensive wards like him, this spell was gold.

Now, what happens when his strongest defense was turned into his strongest attack? A giant explosion of pure power.
