CH. 45

It was only five days later that the powder stock reached its end. And it took around half a day more for everyone to regain their senses and for the party to calm down. It was at this time that Tempest, as host, declared the party finished. As he clapped his hands, the Dome reacted and the starry night sky disappeared to leave an afternoon blue sky.

Shen left Lera inside and went with the others to bid goodbye to most of the guests. During this party, many had their lives changed upside-down. A baker was hired by a High-noble, a random youth was taken as apprentice by an L-ranker and even a beggar was taken in by a military family as a financial advisor...

As the guests left one after another, it turned out that many couples had formed. Of all kinds. Adeline had quite a few suitors bid her their farewell in rather intimate ways. Most of those left behind promises of a date in the near future. It was very embarrassing for her every time and the other three made sure of that. The gentle teasing was not stopping.

Finally, the Princess and her escort along with the emissary and his bid their farewell too. The Princess was very bashful in the presence of Shen. She said that he would soon be invited to the palace to meet her father...

Once everyone had left, the quatuor went back inside and they sat in the living room. Needless to say, they were quite exhausted. Still, they were going to tease each other for a time before going to rest. And Adeline was the easiest.

Tempest: Quite a lot of men, Adeline. I did not think you had that in you!

Adeline: It was your weird powder!

Atem: The powder did not affect you. I taught you enough Magic that it could not.

Of course, that was a lie. The powder worked on her and worked well. But she had no idea.

Adeline: ...N-no way?

...

Shen: So, Atem, what dreams did the Princess have? She seemed quite in a hurry to get us a meeting with her dad.

Atem: Let us see.

Magic was used to play the memories created in the Princess's mind for all of them to see. The longer it went on, the harder they laughed except for Shen. The spell had let the young girl live out her fantaisies for the party. And it turned out it was all about having Shen be her cringey lovestruck fiancée. In her memories, he had actually asked for her hand. It was this moment that Lera picked to join them.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Lera: And here you rejected me, was it for this girl? You have peculiar tastes.

Tempest: Says the Rafflesia.

Lera: Ouch~ Nice to see you guys again. Tempest, Atem.

Atem: Lera, you have quite the gall to show yourself here.

Adeline: Hm? Excuse-me but who might you be Madam?

Tempest: Madam pfft.

Lera glared at Tempest before she introduced herself through a curtsey.

Lera: I am Shen's wife, Lera. Pleasure to meet you, Adeline, I heard a lot about you.

Adeline: Ah, yes, pleasure is mine...W-wait. Wife?! B-but h-he...

Lera: He has been quite the frivolous husband hasn't he~? I know~ We're both like that~ ...Stop looking at me this way, Atem. I was the one to free you guys and I've had my own troubles, ok.

Atem: Fine. I am glad you're alive, Lera.

She smiled at him before going to seat on Shen's lap. Only Adeline remained shell-shocked. Until Tempest went back on topic:

Tempest: So, Atem, I saw that the library was in quite a state...

Atem: I had quite a lot of fun~

They both laughed after they high-fived. Shen wasn't of the same opinion though.

Shen: Did I not tell you to deal with her?

Atem: And I sure did~

Tempest: He sure did! Ahahah!

Shen: Fucking her wasn't what I meant.

Atem: Don't worry, i wiped the problems~

Shen sighed as the other two were still very much happy about what happened. After that, Shen turned to Adeline and asked her:

Shen: How were the Archbishops? Have you learnt from them?

Adeline: I did! They knew so much! The way they use the dogms and magic together to blend new spells...The theories we shared were incredible!

Then, she glared at Tempest and said:

Adeline: If only someone hadn't used a weird powder this soon, I could have learnt more.

Tempest: Wow. Wow. No need to point figers. Just go meet them again. They're acquaintances now.

Adeline: It might be quite awkward during our next meeting.

Tempest: Why? You banged those old guys?

Adeline: No!

Atem: Then he is right, just go meet them again.

Adeline: ...They did it...with each other...

There was a short silence before the whole room erupted in laughter. After this, they had fun gossiping about all the people that were at the party. The gossip mostly came from Adeline and Tempest considering the other three were rather isolated.

Not long later, a butler came in and interrupted them. A royal emissary had come bearing a message.

Shen: This was rather quick.

Atem: She really wants to marry you it seems~

They all laughed. Even Lera couldn't help but chuckle. Shen dropped her on the ground in annoyance and left to meet the emissary as they all laughed.

Tempest: You think he will really marry her?

Lera: I dare him to try.

...

In the guest attending hall, Shen was meeting with emissary.

Emissary ???: Might you be Sir Shen?

Shen: Yes.

Emissary ???: *cough* *cough* I am here on behalf on His Majesty to inform you that he has agreed to have an audience with you regarding your betrothal offer. He is inviting you to come join him for tea tomorrow afternoon.

Shen: Alright, I will be there.

Shen left the room annoyed as the emissary stayed there for a moment. It wasn't everyday that an esteemed emissary like him was received so coldly. Not many dared do so. Then, he remembered who he just met and, in the end, it did not seem that cold anymore.

Rank A delvers were a power not to offend. Even for kings.
