CH. 57

???: Are you trying to hinder our holy endeavor?!

Shen: Ganging up on a single girl doesn't seem that holy. Well except if your God is one of those...Is it?

???: Blasphemy! You must be an heretic as well!

Shen: Does it even matter? People preaching like you are...It's always just been hypocrisy. A way to control, to gain power... It makes me sick.

???: Charge!

As the twenty men readied their spells and swords, the air surrounding them began to change. It became oppressive as if the world itself was angry. It was not the world, it was Shen. The emotions had been building up and the time to vent some of his rage arrived.

...

At the same time, the others reached the area where the battle was going to happen. Though they remained at a safe distance.

Adeline: Shouldn't we go help?

Atem: No. He needs it.

Cynthia: He needs to fight to the death? That's weird.

Tempest: Eheh, you misunderstand. He needs to let it out, his rage. Better on them than us.

Lera: Yeah...I pity those idiots. They won't end well.

Tempest and Atem both nodded at her words. Shen wasn't going to play nice.

...

Back to the battle, blue clouds were forming over the ruins. The thunder was ringing and electric snakes were roaming inside it, ready to crash down. Shen transformed while the attacks began to pour down on him. Fire, Light and Life spells shot right at him and endured as if nothing but tickles. The spells sole accomplishments was the dust cloud formed from it.

And walking out of it slowly was a Shen filled with pain, sadness and rage. His eyes of burning blue flame were glaring at the twenty clergy men and intimidating them. A few even took a step back. The leader of the group was encouraging his men but even was feeling the fear.

As he approached closer, Shen's arms began to be covered in pure blue flames. It elongated on both sides to create some kind of flat surface, akin to a sword.

Atem: Fufu~ They will feel the pain~

Adeline: What are those things? They emanate such a strong power!

Tempest: It's a spell called 'String Scissors'...It's one of his nastiest ones.

Cynthia: What does it do?

Tempest: It severs the link between the soul and a body parts.

Both Adeline and Cynthia gulped while Atem was euphoric ready to applaud.

Shen reached the group and accelerated at once, surprising the crowd. A change in rythm often destabilise the opponents and this time, once again, it didn't fail to. They were so focused on him that they got used to his walk. His speed now was many many times higher to the point that they were still looking at where he was instead of where he is.

At that point, Shen was in the mist of the group and began his assault. It was very one-sided as he chopped and slashed at everything. Those sword-arms of his could not be blocked. If they came into contact with a sword or armor, or even a body, it just went through. This spell was not a physical manifestation of Magic. It was a spell that targeted the intangible, the soul. And particularly, the strings linking the soul to the body.

It was not something a mere iron sword could par. And Shen knew it of course. And the others learnt it the hard way. With every swing of his swords, a man was losing the link to an arm or a leg. It took but a few minutes for all twenty of that clergy corps to be laying down on the ground with their souls linked to nothing but their heads.

This meant that they could only use their heads until their souls healed. Unfortunately, natural healing of the soul took a very long time. They didn't have that luxury. Unfortunately even more so, they were likely not privy to knowledge of spells capable to heal the soul. Which meant that they were stuck facing the sky, laying on the ground, at the mercy of just about anything.

They kept on cursing Shen until the rest of the team arrived. The hooded vampire was on her knees bowing in front of Shen. Lera was the one to help her up as Shen had not even noticed. He was still in a trance, motionless. Tempest and Atem walked up to him and each put their hands on his shoulders. He slightly moved reflexively until he saw them and calmed down.

The clouds disappeared, the flames too.

He looked at the vampire that took off her hood to reveal a beautiful young woman. Dark hair, red eyes and perfectly defined facial architecture. A true vampire indeed. Opposite to the crude, often considered comrades or rivals, werewolves, vampires were handsome men and women. They retained their youth forever and would only die if killed, not from age or sickness and such.

They were one of the races Shen always loved and doted on the most because it was one of the few races he could share the pain of time with. Still, it was also one of the races he tried to not involve himself with the most. For that exact same reason. Enduring time made them slightly crazy and lazy. As he looked at the woman in front of him, he felt both happiness and sadness.

He was happy to find one alive and sad that only one was left. It was disappointingly expected that she was looking at him like a God... He had added the vampire titan to his body in hope to become closer to this race and ended up sending himself further away. Being considered a God when you just want friends wasn't pleasing...

Lera: Verena, are you alright?

Verena: I-...It's him, Lera! The Vampire God! I did not wait for nothing! He really came!

Lera: It's just Shen though?

At this moment, Tempest was grumbling to the side:

Tempest: ...Why couldn't it have been a cute werewolf babe with the keys...
