As the words fell, the surroundings began to be compromised. Viruses and germs began to ran amok and the previously verdant area began to lose its life at a speed which could be seen visually. Both Atem and Tempest had to create a coat of Magic to surround their bodies sot hat they wouldn't get affected.
This would force upon them one more instance of forced magical expenditures. It wasn't incredibly threatening though.
And it became Tempest's turn to activate his own Domain. The wind began to grow strong as the air became colder by the instant.
Tempest: Thundra.
His domain was much more direct than the other two. It created an area where the temperature dropped hard and a mixture of wind and snow raged in a storm pattern. It put the beings around into a freezing storm where they would need to constantly protect themselves from the cold. A storm with no eye, meaning without a clear area.
Not only this but the Domain made the use of sight close to impossible, not like there would be a point trying with Atem's Domain up. Finally, it gave a nice boost to Tempest's abilities. He could manipulate the cold winds to add to his own power or speed.
As the storm began to rage, Der coated his tendrils in a third element, fire. Then, the battle began in earnest with Der and Tempest colliding forcefully, tendrils whipping against punches and kicks. Atem was taking the time to invoke one more spell.
Atem: Purple Rain~
Clouds began to take shape over the surroundings and from them raindrops began to fall faster and faster in high concentration. It was not water. Those were Magic droplets of condensed Mind magic. And they could do but a single thing. Forcefully erase a bit of memory of the being they ended up in contact with.
Of course, the Magic coating Der's body proved a valid defense. But it would be impairing him even further. He proved his title of a legend to be deserved though as he was overpowering by a slight margin his melee opponent. Tempest was getting cuts and slashes.
The rain spell falling down, Atem began to enter the fray in earnest to. He was circling the area while launching arrows and creating spikes. Every few meters, he was hitting the ground with his scepter, where a small dark red circle appeared for an instant before disappearing again.

As the fight went on, Tempest began to get hurt. Der was using the ground as a way to surprise attack him. By sending his tendrils to dig down before they came out to impal the wolfman.
Also, while the ice was very effective in eliminating tendril after tendril, the fire element used by Der was countering it beautifully. Tempest was getting burnt, electrocuted, slashed and cut yet still remained firmly facing his opponent. Until Atem had finished an entire round of the area.
Atem began to use a telepathic spell to create a link between him and Atem so they could speak.
[Atem: I finished the prep, get out of there]
[Tempest: He ain't giving me much space!]
Unfortunately for them, the creature managed to intercept this spell and was also in the same telepathic chanel. They were aware of it even though he hadn't spoken but didn't eject him from it.
The conversation they were having could become both poison and medicine to their opponent. They could use it to bait him and more too.
In the end, Der let Tempest go in order to pursue Atem instead. Going for the Magician was the best way to go about the situation and this time, he was able to reach him easily. Atem ahd gone far too close. It was however what he planned. He ended up being pierced by many tendrils in his legs. They were filled with holes.
As he was pierced, he used a spell to switch position with Tempest. The surrounding meter was switched for the one where Tempest had been, cutting off cleanly the tendrils that had pierced Atem's legs.
Tempest appeared right in front of Der with both palms opened. A ferocious shockwave erupted and pushed Der away back, in-between both his opponents. That's when Atem activated the spell he had painstakingly prepared by running around in a circle before.
A giant red circle formed, Der was inside. Then, dark flames erupted, ready to consumme all within their bounds. But Der had his own ways. One of his tendrils had been implanted into the ground prior to be sent back. He used to propell himself forward back towards Tempest, dodging most of the dark fire.
He began to exchange bouts with Tempest again as Atem sent arrows upon arrows to blast into him. A few tendrils managed to surprise Tempest from underground and grabbed at his neck. He had just enough time to create an ice protection around it, freezing those tendrils. Unfortunately, that instant cost him dearly. One of his arms was cut off.
He hurried to freeze the wound and craft a new arm made of Ice through his Magic as the fight wasn't letting him breath much more. From there, they each began to use many tactics to fight and wounds appeared, then grew.
Soon enough, Atem lost his second arm. In exchange, he managed to get some distance from Der. Atem and Tempest ran to each other, crossed paths, one hand colliding with another, before continuing the fight.
The misdirection from their conversation was unneffective. The green ball remained passive to their ramblings. They did manage to bait it into catching Tempest by the neck once more. This time, Tempest used his powerful jaw to bite off the tendrils. In doing so, a very small opening at appeared.
The magic coating protecting Der from the surroundings wasn't covering the inside of the wound. For but an instant. But it was enough for a single raindrop to hit and take away one single small instant away from his memory...All according to the duo's plan.
