In the end, they chatted with the young priestess for an entire afternoon before bidding her goodbye and agreeing to meet her here in two days to depart for the next town.
Atem: A sweet young human. We really do need to go there.
Tempest: Yeah...
Shen: Even if we had gone there, i would have had her accompagny us.
Tempest: Seriously? She's a powerless and useless young chick. Why would we want to bring her along?
Shen: She's a priest.
Atem: She's weak, Master. Tempest is right on this point.
Shen: She is. But she uses white magic related to godly powers. She will make a useful tool for me to make our fourth companion.
They both nodded as if they understood what he meant.
Atem: A paladin? Or a Priest type?
Shen: I don't see why it could not be both. I will have to get some insights first before deciding.
Tempest: So, we take her along for you to observe her abilities and study them? Would it not be better to get a strong one from the start?
Shen: Strong ones are wary and smart. She's young, weak and naive. She will be easy to manipulate.
Atem: But she will not have access to high-grade spells and techniques.
Shen: Do you think she will remain useless if we, let's say, help her a bit?
Tempest: ...I am not training that little girl.
Atem: ...Must we?
Shen: Think about it. One, we can easily get her to do whatever we want as long as we manage to make her trust us. Two, it likely should not be hard to turn her into a top-tier player of whatever order she belongs. Three, our image will go up if we take trainees along. This might make our goals easier. True, she will be a pain to deal with but you guys both know that we do need a real healer for after we retrieve it.
Tempest: Why bother training her and leaving her here then? Let's not build a fourth and go up with her after she's trained.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
Atem: No. She does have the potential to betray as she is not one of us. It is better to not take chances again.Do you want to be sealed once more?
Tempest: Hell no!
Shen: Then, it is decided. We keep and train her, we get her to spit out all the white godly magic secrets and then we make a fourth.
Tempest: Alright. But now, it is time to get our senses back.
Shen: Right. It should be open by now.
They left the tavern and went straight towards the gentleman's establishment that was closed during their prior visit. It was open now. The guard of the place was the same as this morning but this time, he welcomed them with a respectful smile and bow.
They were customers now.
As they entered, a middle-aged woman still full of beauty introduced them to the services provided here and asked for what they were after tonight.
Shen: I will take number one to five.
Atem: Then, i will have number six to ten.
Tempest: Ah, i guess that leaves me with all the others.
The woman stood there stunned for a moment. Until a bag filled with silver was put in front of her and some words spoken:
Shen: For two days straight, no interruption. I believe there is more than enough in this bag to cover this little exception. If the girls are alright with it, of course.
Manager: They are! Of course, they are! Ladies! Serve these masters well! Gaspard! Close the establishment for the next two days! Those young masters have reserved it!
Two days later, a trio in dark hoods exited the gentleman's establishment as the first rays of sunlight appeared on the horizon. They felt refreshed.
Shen: I did miss that the most.
The other two nodded and the wolfman added:
Tempest: I will need much more to get back my sanity.
Shen: ...Later. We have an appointment first.
They walked to the tavern and ordered breakfast while sitting at the table they had sat before. The same waiter was overjoyed to see his best tippers ever being back here and made sure to give them some extra.
The trio did not wait long for the priestess to arrive. She was early.
Adeline: Good day to you, Shen, Tempest, Atem.
She had a beautiful smile on her shining youthful face. Sweet innocence of an angel. The trio nearly lost themselves just from this. It was their first time seeing her face. While they had talked with her for an afternoon, they knew nothing but her voice.
Clear blue eyes, dark brown hair cascading freely down her shoulders and a slim body frame. She was a charmant young lady indeed. And the trio had been sealed with no women for so long...Two nights at an establishment was not nearly enough to make them invulnerable to her beauty.
They greeted her awkwardly before they invited her to eat, on them. Then, they went on their way. As they departed the village and began walking on the road, the young girl asked them:
Adeline: So, what kinds of jobs do you plan to take in the city?
Shen: Adventurers?
Adeline: Uh? Yes? Well, i meant, as adventurers?
Shen: Are there many?
Back in their days, there was only one thing adventurers did. Killing. And that's what they thought they would be doing after registering this time too. It seemed like they might have been a bit too naive. Turns out that some things did change.
"While the value of money stays strong, the culture will fade"
Adeline: Yes, of course! There are defenders, searchers, questers, trainers and delvers.
Shen: Oh? Do you know more about them, Adeline? Could you explain it to us?
Adeline: Yes!
She smiled widely as she began her lecture.
Meanwhile, walking behind the two, Tempest had sniffed something out.
