CH. 72

Atem, Tempest and Lera exited their own teleportation circle to find themselves falling from the air. The coordinates they had used were for the volcano bridge that was no longer there. In fact, the entire volcano was no more.

With so low magical power, they weren't able to fly either so they let themselves fall to the ocean and touched 'ground' as soon as they reached it. Flying was too much in consumption but walking on water as if ground required very few. After all, you only needed to cover your feet.

As such, the weakened trio ran on the ocean towards the Magical fluctuations they felt closest and when they reached it, they only saw a sentence floating in the air. A sentence made from Shen's magic. They both read and acknowledged it before making it vanish.

Then, they sat down on the spot and began to meditate. They would remain here to wait for their Leader.

...

As Shen exited the portal, he felt the difference in the air composition. It was a different world indeed. He looked to the ground to discover red soil and then upwards to notice three suns in a sky the color of night. It was a stark contrast to the previous world.

That being said, he was not here for a tour. He quickly looked around in hope to find his prey... And he found it alright. Alongside a whole army that is. It seems that man was as shroud as ever. He had gone to a world where the laws of time differed. And it looks like it enabled him to pinpoint Shen's arrival location or create a forced arrival point and surround the place.

Shen looked at this army. Giant canons, massive flying battleships... And thousands upon thousands of warriors decked in the same red armor... Wait. He recognized the specie. They were the Kavus!

A humanoid body covered in red scales and the head of a carnivorous karp. They were ugly and hated throughout the different worlds for they were a conquering race. They called themselves the Empire of dragons, as if they descended from dragons...While in reality, they were karps.

The fish trying to take the leap to become a dragon...

That being said, the danger they presented was real. Just like any conquering race, they had the power to back-up that conquest. But how could he associate himself with such devils? This was a brand new low.

Shen walked forward until he reached around fifty meters away from that hateful man.

Shen: You remain as shroud as ever, Da On Kai. I never thought you would fall this low though. The Karvu's? Really?

Da On Kai: Don't be like that, Senior~ You're the one who taught us to do whatever it took to become stronger and carve ourselves a place in this universe.

Shen: There are limits not to be crossed, Da On Kai! They are a race of destroyers! They have been branded as ennemies to all civilisations!

Da On Kai: And yet they still prosper! A true show of strength and power, isn't it? What's more, they are very easy to use.

Shen: Do you control them?

Da On Kai: Of course, I am the general of this army after all! And since this race has fish brain, all my troopers aren't even conscious of anything. You're aware of their trait, aren't you? Only the top brass and leaders have awareness. Those here are just pawns. Which should be more than enough to end you.

Shen: This world... It's your home world isn't it?

Da On Kai: That's right.

Shen: What did you do?

Shen's eyes were extremely cold. If becoming part of the Karvu was already disgusting, the fact that he recognized this world was worse. If you saw a Karvu army somewhere, it meant there were nothing but Karvus. And to have them here...It meant the civilisation of Da On Kai's home planet was no more.

Da On Kai: ...I conquered it. It wasn't hard to have them deactivate the external world protections. After that? The battleships did their work. Now, Shen, what do you think of my last surprise?

Shen's power became to accumulate and expand. As he saw the entire army surrounding him, he knew. He would die here. There was no way he could defeat a Karvu army with his body in such dire state and Magical reserve on the lower side.

That being said, he was not going to walk towards his final end alone.

He moved.

Like a cannonball, he rushed straight towards Da On Kai who stood far in the mist of the army. As he reached the first Karvu soldiers, the battle began.

In a world comprised of many fused together forcefully, there was a part of it, a whole planet, who had nearly nothing worth noticing but one piece of architecture. It was a tower that went so high that it crossed beyond the atmosphere. The mechanical tower that looked perfectly pristine white with arcane gold engravings stood tall since eons past.

Inside it, at the very floor that pierced the atmosphere, was a throne room. Inside it was a throne upon which a male being was seated. Surrounding him were mechanical devices in the hundreds going all the way to the ceiling and they were linked to him from his hair which were nothing but dark tendrils ending in computer ports.

The male being was humanoid upon first glance except for that hair made of tendril-plugs and his eyes that looked as if a clock instead. His whole skin was covered in copper engravings of cogs. As he looked forward, beyond the hall and straight beyond the glass panels that showed the exterior, he gazed at the worlds below. The many planets linked to each other.

Yet, his gaze was blank.

To this being who had lived for even longer than the world, there was no longer any beauty to this world-defying paysage.

As he remained sitting there, dead-eyes, someone entered his floor through the side.
