CH. 50

The group was looking at a fight filled with danger from those sleeping. What was an epic dream? This was. That being said, while the two girls Adeline and Cynthia thought so, the others were unimpressed. The party fighting was very usual in composition with three melee, a distance and a healer. They were fighting steadily and calmly.

While it seemed impressive, they had made it a battle of endurance against the trolls. The melee fighters were blocking the troll's path while the mage was bombarding from the distance and next to him was the priest giving some healing... Trolls have high-regenrative powers and are bulky but very slow and dumb. While fighting like this would be exhausting, they would win without doubt as long as they remained focused.

Atem stopped the feed soon. He was bored. The two girls glared at him but he couldn't care less for once. This was just too boring.

Atem: Don't look at me like that, it was boring.

Adeline: It was trolls!

Tempest: Weaklings.

Shen: Alright, enough, let's move on.

Cynthia: Shouldn't we wake them up?

They all stopped at her words. Adeline thought about it too and it did make sense. However, the others very quickly stopped them.

Shen: Don't!

They looked like they were seriously going to slap them awake if they weren't provided with an explanation. As such, Shen was forced to explain.

Shen: If people knew this was just a dream, they would ask the same question as you. Where does the loot come from? If they found out the factory, do you think they would want to fight for ressources again? With their lives? When there's an easy way, safe way, to get everything?

They pondered for a moment. It made sense. Why would they put their lives on the line if... Wait. It's a dream. So how could they die?!

Adeline: How come they can die from this?!

Tempest: Took you long enough.

Lera slapped the wolfman before she explained:

Lera: If there were no risks involved, would they try hard? Would they thrive for stronger powers? Would they even care about their lives during fights anymore? The best way to become strong is to fight. But a true fight. So, there has to be some sort of risks involved.

Atem: That being said, they are all provided with a return stone each. It is a stone that they can break in the dream to wake up. Though they would wake up outside. It is important for them to learn what a true fight is but even more so to judge when to stop.

Cynthia: This is incredibly complex, this whole setting...Why? Why need to do so much?

Atem: For peace~!

Atem said so exaggeratingly while sending his arms in the air. This managed to irritate Lera. True, she had been naive when she thought that this would be enough to stop the greed of beings from pushing them to fight and kill each other. Still, it did provide a lot of benefits.

Lera: *sigh* I naively believed that if they were an outlet to fight, they would stop doing it...outside. Also, it was in case some different otherworlder came...

Cynthia: Oh, like those three demons emperors?

Lera: ...Uh...Yeah...

'Lera: You're strolling with those very demons though...'

The glare from Atem made her kept her thoughts to herself and the group went on. As they walked, Cynthia asked:

Cynthia: But how do they die? Or how are they even hurt?

Shen: Magic.

Cynthia: Yeah but I mean...

Atem: Only the 'parts' not hurt are sent out. If you were to lose an arm in the dream, your real body here would still be whole. However, at the time when you leave, the you in the dream is what is sent out. Everything else that presents differences...stays here.

Cynthia: Shouldn't there be more-

Tempest: Blood? Body parts? Bones? No~ Magic cleanings planned every time it senses the lack of beings with a conscience. Shen was very thorough when he created the place~

Shen: Didn't want to walk on leftovers after all!

They both laughed at that as they walked on. The girls were following while being both amazed and creeped out. They met a few more teams of adventurings sleeping on the way but finally reached the end of the path. It ended with a silver door with no obvious ways to open.

Shen walked to the front of it and placed his right hand on it. He infused some of his mana into the door and it opened...by going upwards. Stunning the two girls into speechlessness. They hadn't expected the door to move up...And they were even less suspecting what was left behind it for them to see.

Beyond the doors was something the likes they had never seen before. Beyond the doors, they could see a giant space made of iron. Be it the ceilings, the walls or even the ground, it was all iron. Everyone entered and while the other four did not react at all, the two girls were hyperventilating. This was one impressively stimulating sight.

There were dozens and dozens of weird glass circular tubes going from the ground to the ceilings. They seemed filled with a weird liquid and there were lights coming from under it, lighting the tubes. In some tubes, they could see monster parts, gems, coins...Even artifacts like weapons or armors. It was incredible.

As they advanced on the straight path, they could see some arrows on the ground pointing straight forward. They were painted in white. As they looked upwards, they could see chandeliers made of the same metal as everything else here and there with magical lights produced inside them. The entire place was very eerie. Yet fascinating. Especially to Cynthia. She had stopped in front of a tube where some kind of organic matter was being produced live. Atem walked behind her and told her in a gentle voice.

Atem: This one is producing troll's liver right now it seems. The adventurers from before might have won their fight.

Cynthia: How is this even possible?

Atem: Magic! Magic, Cynthia! There is nothing impossible, only narrow minds. Welcome to the Factory!
