CH. 17

Meanwhile Tempest was on his way back to the establishment he favored since reaching the capital. As most of tusch establishment, they weren't open in daytime. However, for a customer of his standing...and his pockets mostly...They were always open.

As he reached the door, he was ushered in by the guard. A middle-aged worker arrived right behind Tempest and was stopped by the same guard.

???: But you let that guy enter?!

In return, he was punched thrice because three is the charm and forced to go on his way. The establishment was not open in daytime! Those were the rules!

Once he was in, Tempest picked the women he liked the most to accompany him. Those women were in fact all the women available as he loved all women. A manly man to the core.

After some wild riding sessions, and while he was still riding someone else, a girl asked him:

???: Tempest~ Are you sure you won't have any problems~?

Tempest: Hm? With what?

Another woman answered him:

???: The guy you beat up and threw out yesterday was a Noble! From house Lemington!

And another one added:

???: Yeah! they're a Duchy! And you even agreed to a death match by representative tomorrow!

And another one added:

???: Do you really trust that 'Shen' that you picked? Can he really win?

Tempest: Eh~? Don't worry your pretty selves with such boring things~Come closer little puppies~

Finally, the one being rode spoke inbetween moans:

???: But~ Babe~ Your lives are really on the line~

Tempest: Even more reasons to enjoy them while we can, ain't I right ladies?! Ahahahah!

And the riding went on and on and on and further on.

During the afternoon, Adeline was showing off her new spells to both Atem and Shen. In the end, Shen opted to stay at the mansion considering that his state was not stable and he might lose it again...

Adeline: ...And so, this is my fourth variation, Winged Smiling Light Orb.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

As she said so, she created a Smiling Light Orb with wings and expertedly made it flew around with its wings flapping.

Shen: Oh? You can already use 'movement'? What an impressive surprise. Well done, Adeline!

Atem: Yes, that is rather unexpected.

Adeline: Movement?

Atem: Yes. Movement is considered to be the act of moving. Obvious isn't it? However, how many spells do you know are truly 'moving'? In most cases, the caster will use the spell according to the second way, from his memories.

Adeline: I don't quite understand what you mean?

Shen: Why don't you pick an example to explain it, Atem?

Atem: I was going do so, leader, please don't interfere.

Shen: Sure, sure, don't wanna take the credits, don't worry...

Atem: Anyways... Let's take the fireball spell as an example. It is a spell of the destruction category as it will not 'remain' after use. When using the spell, the caster will materialize a fireball and throw it lineraly towards his target. Now, do you think this is considered 'moving'?

Adeline: Uh? Yes? I think?

Atem: Wrong. It is not. Because the movement is not orchastrated by the caster. The spell itself already contains the throw inside of it. Now, if the fireball had even slightly curved? That would have been 'movement'. What Shen meant regarding your spell is the same. The original spell is only supposed to float around the caster. Yet, you made the construct of the spell itself, the wings, move by your will.

Adeline: I...I didn't even think of this...This is...Incredible! What a profund concept!

Shen: Not really? Those are the basics.

Atem: Leader, why don't you go be grumpy elsewhere?

Shen: ...Fine. Then I'll go sleep.

...

Atem: Now that the grumpy one has left, Miss Adeline, please do show me the fifth one.

Adeline: Yes!

She proceeded to create it little by little with utmost concentration. And, little by little, Atem was able to capture the frame of the construct with his eyes. An humanoid of some kind? She shortened the size and altered the visual itself. What impressive creativity and dedication this shows. Atem was delightfully surprised once again.

The spell she made was the very image she had of her belief. It looked like a woman with wings. To think that the simple spell Light Orb could be turned into a winged woman of light? Impressive. Beautiful.

Atem: A winged woman, beautiful. To think you managed to alter the Light Orb this much in such a short amount of time.

At that time, she began to make the construct move. Not only was the spell floating hazardly around them, the wings, arms and legs of the figure were moving along in a dance of light. She was like a choreographer and the spell was her dancer. And she was doing a great job.

Atem: Sublime! You passed, Miss Adeline! I know label you a true Magus!

...

Finally, the sun was starting to set, Tempest began to regain some clear-headedness. Mostly when he heard one of the girl say:

???: Are you not going to meet your representative, love~? You both might be killed tomorrow after all~

Tempest: No, I don't ne- Wait. Me too?

???: Hm~ Ahn~ Yeah~

???: If the proxy dies, the employer gets beheaded, dear~ Did you agree to the duel without knowing?

Tempest: ...What happens if the proxy doesn't show up?

???: Then only the employer is beheade, my big wolf~ Ahn~

Tempest took it out instantly and put on his clothes. He had a very grim expression on his face. The girl were sweetly tempting him to stay but he couldn't. Knowing his Master, if he didn't go to explain himself, and explain himself well, they would help having him beheaded. His Master hated to fight for another and even more so to be forced to.

Tempest left the money he owed behind him and rushed to the Mansion with all he had, creating hurricanes on his wake. He could not wait a single more second.

His life was really on the line for once.
