Chapter 523:
Allison looked over with a slow, mocking smile.
“I doubt Mr. Stevens would be looking at me,” she said lazily. “He’s been blind for as long as I can remember.”
Colton’s expression turned frigid, and Melany, barely containing her anger, snapped, “You!”
At that moment, a noise came from the casino’s entrance, silencing her. The heavy doors swung open, and a tall, straight figure stepped into the room.
It was Kellan.
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.
“Is that Kellan Lloyd from Charisma Company?” someone whispered. “What’s he doing here?”
“Obviously here to gamble! Look at the cases his men are carrying — those are probably loaded with cash.”
“Wait, could he be the partner Scarlet Snake brought in?” The suggestion spread quickly, stirring excitement among the guests. Everyone knew Kellan never set foot in casinos.
Allison met Kellan’s gaze across the room, then raised her glass and handed him one as he approached.
“You made it in six minutes,” she said, arching an eyebrow. “Punctual as always, Mr. Lloyd.”
“For you, Ms. Clarke, I wouldn’t dream of being late.”
Kellan’s broad shoulders and athletic frame filled out his black shirt. As always, he smelled like cedar.noveldrama
“You didn’t summon me here for some pocket money, I assume?”
“Perceptive as ever, Mr. Lloyd,” she replied with a smile, glancing toward Amor and Melany. “I want you as my partner for a game. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know the rules. I just need someone who’s willing to sit across from them with me.”
Kellan took a sip of the tequila, his voice low and magnetic. “If you want me as your partner, I’m honored.”
His lips were still marked red from a recent kiss in the dark alley where he’d kissed her. She’d slapped him, yet here he was, answering her call without a second’s hesitation.
Even his bodyguards were momentarily stunned by their boss’s statement.
Sherman, holding one of the cases, was especially taken aback. After working for Kellan for so many years, he knew that his boss had never been interested in gambling, and yet here he was, prepared to enter a game, stakes unknown, at Allison’s side.
Sherman couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, admiring how fearless Allison truly was.
Even Andres couldn’t hide a slight frown. Of all people, he hadn’t expected Kellan Lloyd to be summoned here.
The Lloyd family held immense influence. Muisvedo would sooner provoke a hundred Amors than risk crossing paths with them.
