He ascended the stairs gracefully to find Cornelius standing at the door. "Why are you standing there, Cornelius? Where's Mr. Stavius?"
Cornelius turned around and exclaimed, "Shouldn't you be training at Mt. Verfait? What are you doing here?"
"I have some business with Mr. Stavius," Medwyn replied with a sly smile. He knocked on the door and introduced himself.
"Mr. Stavius, I'm Medwyn Pritchett, a disciple in Mr. Leanan Uselton's lineage. I have something to ask of you."
The door remained closed as Kaspar's voice sounded from within. "What is it?"
Seeing that he wouldn't be invited in, Medwyn lowered his voice and explained through the door," Mr. Lofstedt of the Colifernia Chamber of Commerce wishes to speak with you and seeks your support.
"He's considering relocating the chamber's heritage site on tomorrow's founding day, and he's hoping you can lend your expertise in geomancy. Mt. Verfait's and Cloudveil Sect's cultivators will attend the ceremony as well, so..."
Before Medwyn could finish, Kaspar cut him off with a firm refusal.
Medwyn was momentarily stunned and quickly adjusted his approach. "Please don't dismiss me so quickly, Mr. Stavius. Mr. Lofstedt has strong connections in Colifernia and has built a solid network over the years. I ask that you reconsider."
The door suddenly flung open with a loud bang, though Kaspar remained seated inside. Just as a master martial artist could wield such impressive skill, so too could a cultivator who had attained a certain level of the Arcane Way.
