Despite his reservations, Nash still took Hera to the fried chicken shop.
"Welcome, what would you like? There's a menu on the side..." The lady squinted, scrutinizing Hera from head to toe.
"Is that you?"
"It's me, ma'am. It's Rara!"
"Rara, it's really you!" The lady walked over excitedly, wiping her hands. Hera stepped forward to hold the lady's hands.noveldrama
"Long time no see, ma'am."
"Long time no see. Long time no see, indeed. Oh my, Rara, you've become so beautiful." Then, the lady noticed Nash standing beside her.
"And this is..."
"This is my husband," Hera announced proudly.
The surrounding customers all turned to look at Hera.
The lady gave Nash a pleased look, her eyes full of joy. Even the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes deepened along with her smile.
"Oh my, he's so handsome. Come, come, sit down."
Nash smiled back and nodded.
The lady guided the two to a seat. Seeing Hera's pregnant belly, she carefully helped her sit down and
then asked kindly, "Our fried chicken can be heavy with salt and spice, Rara. You..."
"Hehe, I just have a craving. It'll be fine. Just don't add anything too spicy."
The lady nodded and went to place their order. As she headed to the kitchen, Nash looked at the familiar way Hera interacted and teased, "I didn't expect this."
"Didn't expect what?" Hera blinked at him.
"I didn't expect you to be so familiar with the owner. You've eaten here a lot, haven't you?"
"Of course! Let me tell you, the lady here is so nice. Back when I was in college used to come here alone all the time. They didn't have a shop kthen, just a small stall, but it
so clean.
"I used to order the extra spicy fried jalapeno poppers too... It's a shame that I can't eat those right now."
Nash listened patiently as Hera
recounted her memories. He
Hera even after living
realized that he knew so little about
long.
for so
He thought it was funny watching her spend money so freely earlier. He had not imagined her frequenting a place like this.
Then again, so what? Nash thought it was even better.
It allowed him to discover new
things about her. From the
beginning, Hèra was just an ordinary woman, and there was nothing wrong with being ordinary. In fact, Nash liked this side of her. He loved the woman in front of him who was burning her mouth from eating too quickly.
Hera quickly took a sip of water. "It's so hot. Hot!"
Then, she noticed Nash's amused smile across the table.
She pouted, turning her head shyly. "Stop... Don't laugh at me."
"What? How could I laugh at you?" Nash took a napkin and gently wiped Hera's mouth.
"Alright then." Hera handed a fried sausage to Nash. "Just... stop staring at me. You eat too."
"Haha. Alright, alright." Nash took the sausage.
The two of them spent the time chatting and bantering. As other customers passed by, they could not help but envy the couple's sweetness.
With the warm light above and the steamy little shop, Nash felt incredibly at peace.
