Chapter 78 - Hunting a Blind Man - Part 3

Chapter 78 - Hunting a Blind Man - Part 3

A few moments later, the carriage stops in the forest we are supposed to leave. When the carriage stops, I woke up my friend, Gregonson and tell him we have arrived at our destination, and this boy, has taken his backpack with food and left the carriage first, and then I left too. Before we were about to go into the depth of the forest, we said our goodbyes to the driver and thanked him for helping us. The driver didn't say anything, he just left after both of us leave his carriage.

Both of us are checking if our things are with us, and... we have it. My spell book, wands and the food I have taken from the bakery are here. After we have done checking, Gregonson has taken the lead and I followed him because he might know where that blind man could be if it is here, or in another area.

"It is in this zone?" I whispered to Gregonson after a few minutes of walking.

"The Gods are telling me it is here," he whispered walking and waving his left arm around. "The Gods of seeking are telling me it is in this forest, but not the exact location."

"What kind of Gods doesn't tell you where the man is located?" I whispered to Gregonson after we cross a bridge made with one big and old log which are connecting two lands from a big distance.

"Should I use my "Vulture"?"

"Vulture?" asks Gregonson who is continuing to walk.

"A spell which can found the someone we are looking for."

"Don't. We can find him by using the power of Gods, plus, we do not want to waste precious mana because this might be going to be a tough battle."

"I-I see," I respond quite nervous because this time, Gregonson was not whispering and I could felt his feeling of being nervous about all of this mission he got for us.

In the city, Fiona arrived at the station where carriages are located, and where Judah and his friend, Gregonson has taken one of them to help them travel to the forest. Fiona goes to a carriage which shows a banner with "Appointments", and when she got there, the man who is occupying with this, got scared for a second because he got a client which is known to knights, squires, other kingdoms, and even to half-humans.

"One carriage to Odlakhoma."

"O-o-Of course," he said the man who is occupying this kind of job, and he checks the schedule of the free carriages. "Got Number 11. At what hour would yo-you like to r-rent?"

"In two hours? It is good."

"Yes, yes, yes. Very good." said the man who is marking on carriage number 11 a circle which shows that this carriage is taken and will have to leave in 2 hours.

When Fiona has done the appointment, she goes straight to her house and announces to her big sister about the appointment she as done to one carriage labelled number eleven.

Three minutes later, in the forest, Gregonson and I are stopping in a bush and we are staying there camouflaged and waiting for our target to appear, but that's what Gregonson has told me before we were about to hide in the bushes. We are looking around for a while to see if the criminal will make his appearance, but it seems like, it didn't because both of us have decided to move from there and continue walking into the forest and continue to search for some clues which might help us find the blind man. And how we will do that? By asking the villagers from the houses next to the forest we have scouting.

We have walked for a few minutes until we arrived at a lake, and there it is a teenager, wearing some dirty clothes and holes on his shirt. That man must be the poor type who is trying to make his living by fishing, or doing some errands and I think it doesn't work quite good because he is looking sad while fishing.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

"Hey!" I waved at him when I and Gregonson crossed the bridge.

"Hello." says the poor teenager who is using his fishing rod to catch one fish. "Can I help you with something?"

"Um... Yes. Have you seen something strange in this village?" I asked him this instead of introducing ourselves because we are in a hurry.

"Strange? Like what?"

"Did a weird man arrived in this village?" asked Gregonson.

"Hmm... Come to think of it, there was one who has come here. One man without eyes, walking on the paths of this village."

"Did the man had black hair?" asked Gregonson calmly.

"...yes. Long black hair." responds the poor teenager.

"Is he still here?"

"I don't know. I haven't seen him today, but what business do you have with him."

I and Gregonson are looking at each other for a moment, and we have decided to tell the teenager the whole truth. And, he was scared, but not the fact that we are hunting the blind man.

"I cannot believe two kids are trying to catch such a dangerous blind-man. But how come a blind man can walk without any worries?" asks the teenager getting up and looking at Gregonson who doesn't seem intimidated by the teenager height.

"He is using some kind of sorcery... or magic. Both works. We have to catch him before he will do any disaster. So... Thank you for giving us this information." says Gregonson who is taking the lead again, and I followed him, but before I left, I said goodbye to the teenager and wished him good luck at fishing.

Gregonson asked me while we were walking, why did I wish the boy good luck by doing such a peaceful job.

"It is because fishing is like a fight. You never knew who is going to win. It might be the fisher or the fish."

"Who told you that?" asked Gregonson.

"My uncle, Big Gus."

"Big Gus? The guy with a big belly who has told almost every city about you."

"Yeah," I responded feeling quite ashamed by this because Big Gus got drunken in a night and told almost everyone from the city how strong and intelligent he is. "Anyway, what if he is not in this village?"

"What do you mean?"

"What if he is in another village or the city?" I asked Gregonson.

"No. It must be here somewhere close. The Gods are telling me he is here."

"Should I-"

"It is not necessary, Judah." replied Gregonson before I was about to ask him if I can use "Vulture" to detect him... this dude is starting to make me think he is helping the criminal, but that would be impossible... I mean it will not happen... Gregonson is too pure to ally with a criminal.

We are walking around the village for a few moments, and Gregonson suddenly stops, and he also stopped by raising his hand in my way. We have stopped in a front of a building with a banner that says "Tools for Fishers". Gregonson walks slowly to the window of the building, he takes a peek there. Then, after he checked, he made a signal to me to come closer to him, and that is what I have done, I go closer to him and took a look together at the windows of that building and there I saw it, one man with black hair who cannot see, taking a fishing rod from one of the shelves.

"Should we attack?" I ask Gregonson while I take my wand from the backpack.

"Not now. We have to check if it is the man we are looking for," responds Gregonson.

"And how we will do it?"

But Gregonson did not respond, instead, he enters the store like a normal person and he is walking to that blind man. "What the hell is he doing that asshole?!" I yelled in my mind because this move might be going to cost him.

Suddenly, I felt a weird gaze coming from behind. I took a look and there was a rock type monster, who was having my height and holds a sword, made entirely with rocks. I quickly activate the shield spell, right when he was about to slash me with that rock weapon. After I aimed my wand at him and shot a "Fireball" spell, which hit him, and made him fly a few steps behind. The spell hasn't put him down because he is a rock monster, not a human, but it did make a sign on his rock body. Then, the monster rushes at me, prepared for another attack, and this time, I have decided to run instead of calling Gregonson. While I was running, I decided to cast a new spell I have learned from that giant spell book I got, and after I cast the spell named "Audra", a lizard came out from a portal landed on my shoulder, which has made me feel disappointed.

The spell I was trying to activate was an animal summon, which can be characterized as a spell that summons an animal, and help him fight, But in my case, I wanted to summon a giant lizard and I asked the lizard, "calmly".

"Why aren't you big?!"

"Because you are still a newbie mage." replied the lizard named Audra. "And besides, why are you running?"

The lizard looked back and saw the rock monster with a furious gaze running after us. The lizard then got scarred and yelled at me to run faster. And that is what I did, I ran faster until the monster will lose my track.

Meanwhile at the shop...

"So... You are the blind man who almost killed the nuns?" asks Gregonson in an angry tone.
