Chapter 116 - Capturing Garnet - Part 5

***

"RRRAURGH!" screamed Fiona after she cut an entire enemy soldier in a vertical half only using her giant sword.

The corpse has fallen on the night ground, he bled a lot of blood, and had his guts leaving the body. The knight in that armour had a lot of those sword marks on the chest area, and on his head, after Fiona was able to see his face. She looked terrified at the knight because she knew who was the man who was fighting against her for three minutes straight, it was one of her colleagues from the war between Turkish Empire. Some of those warriors from the Army are rented by the noble families as assassins for their noble houses or as guards in exchange for a big bag of gold coins.

But she couldn't stay and cry to the death of his comrade, she had to take down other enemies, even though some of them might know her. She has to do a job for her guild, and that job it is to stop the guards and assassins of the noble family in order to make them surrender and punish them for the sins they have committed in this kingdom.

A few moments later, after she put down three enemies with her giant sword, she encounters another enemy, but this one got already killed by Liza's arrows. She knows Liza is hidden somewhere where she cannot be seen by enemy archers or mages, but there aren't any of the mages on these enemies lines. She did wave as a sign of "Thanks!" for Liza arrow, who made her fight easier. Fiona continues to charge forward, putting down a lot of people from the close distance with her sword and her Vewolf powers.

She uses her left Vewolf arm to grab a knight, not looking so strong, yet not so skinny, to only threw him into three archers from a medium distance from her. The knight hits one archer, but the other two were dodging Fiona attempt, but they also got killed by Liza sharp shooting. All of those two arrows hit these two knights into their heads, piercing through their skull, like a knife into an apple.

Fiona continues to fight the incoming knights who were putting their cart down. They were completely destroyed by her strength, and most of those knights decided to flee away from this suicide move. But the enemy, running away, were eventually killed by Liza's arrows. Some of them were put down, only two or three soldiers were able to leave without an injury or a missing member. They were kept alive to tell the noble family to give up on this fight.

Meanwhile, in the Bran village, at the house where I am going to live for the next days, Garnet is still tied up, but this time on a chair. Ulfred and Taka doesn't want to let her free from these ropes, not even if The God of Death will ask them. We are sitting on the room which I suppose will be the kitchen, and I am drinking water in a wooden cup I have taken before I left the Capital.

"How long are you working for Fiona?" asks Taka who's sitting on the same table as me, and on a seat made out of stone.

"For almost two years." I respond to Taka. "And you are working for someone?"

"Only for the guild, and my Bulgarian Queen."

"I see... Are the times good there?"

"What do you mean by good?"

"There it is corruption? Fighting between nobles and other bad things happening there?"

"You kid have to learn the basics of this world. Nothing it is going well on these lands. Every world has a dark side, and a light side. In this kingdom it is good in merchants and has good talents in crafting, but as a bad side there it is corruption, fighting against nobles and discrimination. But our kingdom it is going in a good direction, for now."

"For now?" I asked her after I took a slip of my cup.

"The Queen has recently sent some warriors into wars of our neighbours and in other kingdoms to help them, just like what is happening here. The bad thing of this it is the fact that it has called a lot of good soldiers in these missions overboard, while the weak ones are used in protecting. I and Ulfred are the good ones from that kingdom, and Liza it is just a good warrior. She ain't bad, but she ain't at our level, you understand?"

"Yes." I responded to Taka question feeling a little weird the fact that she has opened up so easily to me, I always thought she is the type of person from the novel who doesn't talk too much and just do her thing.

We both heard a door getting closed, and from that room leaves Ulfred who let our "hostage" in the bedroom reserved for her. Taka initial idea was to let Garnet into the first floor, but Ulfred had the idea to make me and Garnet sleep into the same room. We cannot sleep into separate rooms, all of us because this house presents only four rooms, three bedrooms and one kitchen. I did not complain at this because to me, it seems normal since I used to sleep with my fellow roommates from the Orphanage, but this time I will sleep with a girl, and in the Orphanage we had a strict rule that girls and boys should sleep into different rooms.

"The girl has finally gone sleeping." says Ulfred to us, he takes a seat from the other side of the room and sits on the table. "Now, we have to discuss something extremely important?"

"Is about hostage?" I asked Ulfred.

"Yes. The girl treats everything way too nicely. I think this might be a possible trap."

"What makes you say that?" asks Taka.

"Her behaviour?" I asked Taka.

"The fact that she revealed a dark secret to us?" asks Ulfred.

"The fact that it didn't try to attack us in the first place or try to escape by her own?" I asked Taka again.

"That... Something doesn't smell too good to here to be true." says Taka to us. "Nobody on this world would be happy to be taken apart by their only family, right?"

"Yes." I and Ulfred responded on the same time.

"And nobody will be-friend, the one who captures them."

"That it is also correct." I say to Taka. "But what if the things she said are true?"

"If they are, then we are fucked. The cannibal noble families are indestructible here in Kingdom of Romania and on Kingdom of Bulgaria."
