Wang Jǐng Jiè's Letter to Liu Tián Qǔ:
Big Brother Tián Qǔ,
I'm sorry it took me so long to send you a letter of thanks. Thank you for the gift of the telescope spyglass. I've been having so much fun with it that I forgot to send my thanks. I love climbing up on the roof of my courtyard and watch things with my spyglass. It's been so much fun. I like the tripod as well. It was just delivered from the woodcarvers. It has three legs, and it easily holds the spyglass very well.
I also liked the drawing of your new blind horse, but make sure you buy a regular horse for me. I don't want to ride a blind horse.
Write me another letter and tell me some more good things and send me some more good gifts. I can't wait until my confinement is over, then I can come over to visit when I get bored. Even though we only knew each other for a short time, I really like Big Brother.
I'm glad that we are friends. I don't have friends. The last friend I had Older Brother killed him. He was a bad person. He pretended to be my friend to get close to my family. Older Brother found out and cut off his head. It was terrifying, and I cried a lot even though he was a bad person.
Since he lied to me and pretended to be my friend, I decided not to count him as my friend. That makes you the first real friend that I've ever had.
That's why I'm glad that you are nice and Older Brother likes you so we can all be friends. Anyway, I have to eat lunch now. Can your cook make good things? If so, sneak me some good food. Just don't let my mother catch you, or she's going to get scary. Farewell for now Big Brother Tián Qǔ.

Little Dumpling!
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
How can you call me a friend in once sentence, and try to get me in trouble with your mother in the next sentence? No, I will not send food for you to eat. Anyway, my cook is a horrible cook he's learning to cook better by experimenting on everybody.
On a good note, I got some more good stuff to send you. The next gift I am going to send you is called a compass. It also has a sundial attached to it. You've read a ton of books, so I am sure you already know what a compass and a sundial is. I think you will like it. I also had my new Residence Commander pick up some really nice puzzles for you when he went to the woodcarvers on my behalf to have the tripod for your spyglass commissioned. I am going to send it over now.
Another piece of good news is that the Emperor sent some horses over. I am going to look at them later. I will draw a picture of each horse and sent them over. You can pick out whichever one you like later. So when you learn how to ride, you will have your own horse. These are special horses from the emperor's own stable. I think your brother must have told the Emperor I bought a blind horse and the Emperor felt sorry for me and sent me some horses.
I also asked the emperor if I could come over and visit you and study with you sometimes while you are in confinement. He said yes, so I will be coming over to see you soon. I even got a very special fun gift for you to bring over when I come. I think you may like it.
I also got a lot of fruit trees over here. I have apple trees, orange trees, Loquat trees, Lycée trees, and pomegranate. I even have grapes, and I have bees that make honey. All the fruits are all still growing on the trees, but I will have a lot of good stuff over here for you to eat that your mother will approve of. I was just thinking about the noodles shop where we ate noodles at. Those noodles were so good. When my chef finally learns how to cook. I'm going to hire the noodle shop owner to come teach my chef how to make good noodles.
I still got more good stuff to tell you, but first, I am going to send over this letter and your gifts now. I will tell you the rest in the next letter.
Liu Tián Qǔ
Liu Tián Qǔ folded the letter, put it in an envelope, and sealed it. Then Liu Tián Qǔ picked out one of the compasses and picked up a large box with three puzzles in it. Leaving her courtyard, Liu Tián Qǔ went to look for someone to deliver the letter.
Zhou Yù was curious about the classes being given to the servants to teach everyone to read. So Liu Tián Qǔ sent her to class for the day so she could check it out.
Everyone Liu Tián Qǔ passed looked busy carrying out their own duties. Before she knew it, Liu Tián Qǔ had already walked all the way to the outer courtyards. Since she was that far already, she decided to walk over and deliver the letter and gifts herself.
