Chapter 38: House Meeting Pt.1

Liu Residence

"The first thing that worried me was that since I am young, the servants would not listen well to me or be sly and cunning. Or just may be the wrong kind of servants to have in my home. However, upon seeing the kind of servants that Housekeeper Gao bought back this time. Along with the firm way in which you have taken control, I feel very reassured." Liu Tián Qǔ said as she cupped her hands and bowing in gratitude to Housekeeper Gao before careful passing everyone a cup of tea.

"Young Master, no thanks is necessary. This is what I should do." Housekeeper Gao said hurriedly, returning Liu Tián Qǔ bow after accepting her cup of tea. She was a woman that could only be described as handsome as the words pretty or beautiful didn't suit her.

She was a tall woman with beautiful wide light brown eyes that stood out. Her nose was straight, not too small but not big either. She had thin red lips and white teeth that were cutely slightly crooked in the front. Housekeeper Gao had a sturdy stature, not fat but also not skinny. She had a strict demeanor. However, it did not give off tones of harshness. She also had a strong air of efficiency about her. Liu Tián Qǔ liked her upon sight.

She reminded Liu Tián Qǔ of her secretary from her past life. Housekeeper Gao appeared to have the efficiency of a top corporate secretary that would have the 5 o'clock reports completed before noon with ease. This would allow you to have a relaxing day because the top corporate secretary would already have everything done before noon.

In her past life, Liu Tián Qǔ was forced to take a year off from school to help her father's company. A rival had framed her father and almost bankrupt her father's company. That was a mistake on his part. Within one year, Liu Tián Qǔ tore that rival down from his thrown. Had him imprisoned and took over his company before handing things back over to her father.

"Housekeeper Gao, I feel happy just to see you," Liu Tián Qǔ said, causing Housekeeper Gao to blush faintly. "I heard about your situation with the Minister of Personal household. Their loss is my gain. If there is anything, you need from me, let me know. I will do all that I can to make your job easier."

"Thank You, Young Master," Housekeeper Gao said. Beside her, Butler Zhou sat with a slight smile and a proud look on his face. It was clear to see he was very proud of his family.

"There is one thing I would like to ask, though. Housekeeper Gao, how long did you work in the palace for?"

"In response to the Young Master. I worked in the place from the age of six until I was gifted to the Minister of Personal Household." She answered briskly.

"Good. Then you are very familiar with the rules of the palace. I want my household to run along those guidelines. It doesn't have to be as strict as the palace. However, I want to lean towards those guidelines."

"Most of the nobility do, Young Master." Housekeeper Gao said with a gentle smile. "Some families are stricter than others but for the most part. It is expected that noble households fashion after the lead of the Imperial family."

"Housekeeper Gao I will have to rely heavily on you and Butler Gao. There is much I do not know and many places where I am lacking. So will need your guidance. I feel so close to both of you already. Maybe it's because of how devoted Butler Gao was in serving my mother. In private, I would like to call you Uncle Zhou and Auntie Gao." For a couple of heartbeats, the couple and their daughter sat frozen in shock.

"Young Master," Butler Zhou exclaimed in shock. For several heartbeats Butler Zhou gawked at Liu Tián Qǔ in shock, watching Liu Tián Qǔ as she calmly took a sip of her tea. "Young Master," His eyes finally grew wet and tears trickle down his cheek. Other than to say, Young Master. For a moment, Butler Zhou seemed to be incapable of saying anything else. His wife, Housekeeper Zhou, also got emotional. Zhou Yù eyes glittered in pride. She was obviously very happy to be the daughter of her parents.

"It's decided than Uncle Zhou," Before they could protest or say how inappropriate it was. Liu Tián Qǔ quickly changed the subject, completely distracting them.

"There are a few important things I must mention first. Within the next couple of days, I am expecting a decree from the emperor to arrive."

"Decree?" the couple exclaimed in surprise, and Zhou Yù's eyes grew as wide as a saucer.

"Yes, as you are aware, regular citizens are not allowed to have armies. Even though I was born of a noble house, I left to live on my own. Although I carry the label of nobility, I am a citizen. However, I wish to have my own house guards to protect my house and an army of battle readiness to defend myself. So I asked the emperor if he can allow me to have my own house guards and army. I am expecting his answer within the next few days." Silence and utter astonishment reigned over the lounge.
