Chapter 51: Closing the Net Pt. 2

Under the cover of darkness with the Gòu Archers, Twenty Thousand Imperial Guards, Twenty Thousand Shā Qì Army Warriors, Twenty Thousand Immortal Warriors, and Twenty Thousand Wang Royal Manor Guards patrolling the City. The Seventy Thousand Qiú Fàn Army Warriors under the command of the Elder and Five Generals immediately got to work on the wet work of extermination.

The Nine Generations of the Prime Ministers family joined him in death. The Minister of Justice and all nine generations of his family. The Minister of the Guards and all nine generations of his family. The five Assistant Ministers of Justice and all nine generations of their families. The four Assistant Ministers of Public Works and all nine generations of their families. The Three Ministers of the Guards and all nine generations of their families. The One hundred and Twenty Two City gate Guards and all nine generations of their families. The Sixty two City Patrol Guards and all nine generations of their families. The Three Merchant Houses and all nine generations of their families. Two large scale smuggling rings with a total of over four hundred and ninety-seven were put to death.

Blood flowed like a river in the Imperial City as yelling, screams, and pleadings of mercy rang out in the strange silence of the night. The Seventy thousand Qiú Fàn Warriors worked quickly and efficiently under the shaken yet steadfast five generals.

Many didn't even know why the grim reaper came for them until the very moment of their death. With each death, the heavy thick iron copper scent of blood that blanket the Imperial City grew thicker and thicker. And The nauseating sickly sweet smell of death that hung like a shroud over the city grew stronger. The ground became so saturated with blood that the blood that flowed began to form small puddles.

Elder Wang was a person who believed in completely pulling out problems by the roots. The Elder commanded that the Imperial Census workers be called in. The Imperial Clerical workers were called in to assist the census workers. The names of all the traitors were given to the census workers and clerks. They were given the task of tracking all the family members of the convicted traitors. Throughout the night, the body count of the dead quickly rose. In one night, hundreds of thousands of people were dragged out of their houses and put to death in Imperial City.

The activities of the Seventy Thousand Qiú Fàn Warriors had long awakened the citizens of the Imperial City. Many of the newly awakened citizens had come out of their houses upon waking to investigate. They had no idea of what happened earlier with the Shā Qì warriors, how the Shā Qì Warriors had cut down people who had refused to return indoors.

When these newly awakened people were told to return indoors, many grew stubborn, refusing to return indoors until they found out what was happening. Sadly many stubborn people lost their life that night unnecessarily because they refuse to listen to the command to return indoors.

Many nobles and officials sat in their houses, trembling in fear, praying to their ancestors and every diety they could think of that all the members of their family remain loyal to the Tolling Lands and the Emperor.

No one that was accused was spared, with the census workers that Elder Wang called in. A new round of killing began. Elder Wang led his Warriors and the Generals in wiping out the blot of corruption that was hidden beneath the surface of the Imperial City.

It quickly became apparent to the commoners that the blood storm that had overflowed the Imperial City originated from the corrupt officials of the court. Since it had nothing to do with them, they just lowed their heads and kept their heads down as they waited out the storm. An hour before dawn, the yelling and screaming and pleas of mercy died down, and the blood storm began to ease.

The Liu Manor

Liu Tián Qǔ and Jiang Tài Píng stood just inside the entrance of the manor with many of the new servants who were wakened to screaming and yelling during the night.

A while ago, Liu Tián Qǔ and Jiang Tài Píng had gone out to investigate to see what was happening. They were told by an Shā Qì Warrior with dead, emotionless eyes to return to their residence.

Liu Tián Qǔ had bowed to the warrior and said, "I will not make your job difficult and will return. I just want to ask you a quick question." She saw that the warrior had no interest in anything she had to say or in answering any questions.

Liu Tián Qǔ still took a chance and said, "I am friends with both of the Young Masters of the Wang Royal Manor. I had sent Wang Fèn Yǒng to warn the emperor of the corrupt officials hiding the resources of Veiled Mountain. I just wanted to go over to the Wang Royal Manor and see if this disturbance was related to that issue. Will you allow me to go?"

Shā Qì Warrior said in a flat, emotionless voice, "No, I will not allow it. Young Master, whether or not you are a friend to the Wang Royal Manor, is of no concern of mine. I will only tell once more to return to your residence.

Liu Tián Qǔ felt her instincts go off. She quickly bowed to the warrior respectfully, "Please accept my apologies for not returning immediately and making you tell me twice. I will return now. Be careful out here tonight." Liu Tián Qǔ said in a farewell to the dead, emotionless eyed Shā Qì Warrior. Leaving him to stare at their retreat figures for several heartbeats as she and her new Commander quickly climbed the stairs to the Liu Residence, returning to the Residence.
