Chapter 23: The Fight on the Cliff of Veiled Mountain

All the equipment she needed for the horse was given to Liu Tián Qǔ at a low discount price. Liu Tián Qǔ had the horse readied then proceeded to go on her first ride ever outside of the imperial city. Aiming the nose her horse toward Veiled mountain Liu Tián Qǔ set off.

Liu Tián Qǔ knew She was being followed. She didn't know who in the Wang Royal Manor set guards on her, but she had to make it look good. In the memories of the original body owner's past life. The original body owner had heard her father say that the smugglers that were smuggling the melded ore from Veiled mountain were caught smuggling where the old village once stood.

Thirty minutes outside of the imperial city Liu Tián Qǔ came to Veiled mountain. It was a sad, sorry sight. It was a barren mountain with patches of dead grass all over. "My goodness did they dump a mountain of salt here" Liu Tián Qǔ exclaimed out loud. "It's been over two years through rain, snow, and changes of the season. Yet, I can visibly see large white patches of a film of some substance with the naked eye. For some reason, I was under the impression that salt was just lightly sprinkled and mixed into the soil. But in reality, it looks like someone backed up trucks of salt and dumped them all over the place. Then kindly did the favor of spreading it evenly all over the place. What the hell! What is going on here! Where the hell did they get all this salt anyway? And how in tarnation did they get it up here? Who the hell have time to do all this work? My goodness, I wonder what the Chen Family did to drive someone to go this far!" Liu Tián Qǔ talked aloud to herself.

However, there was no one there to answer her questions. "This is mind-boggling" muttered Liu Tián Qǔ as she continued up the mountain she was genuinely perplexed. She had no idea where the previous village once stood. So knowing that she was being watched and followed, Liu Tián Qǔ rode her horse around on the mountain and made a good show of looking around.

As it turns out, that was a good idea. Quite by accident Liu Tián Qǔ stumbled into three men as she came around a cliff. However, they were so busy arguing with each other they never noticed her. Slowly trying not to draw the notice of the men, Liu Tián Qǔ backed her horse away. She quickly went back around the cliff.

Once Liu Tián Qǔ was safely back around the cliff, Liu Tián Qǔ dismounted. As Liu Tián Qǔ anchored her horse to a nearby large stone, she heard the sounds of their arguing get more fierce. It sounded like they were getting physical.

Sure enough, the men were arguing about the melded ore. It seems like they were supposed to be working together. However, ore kept going missing, and now they were all suspecting one another.

One of the guys was insisting that maybe it was another smuggling team. Another of the guys was yelling 'bullshit.' The operations of the other teams are so big why would they come to rob them of a few measly ores. Then fist started flying as they were yelling at and accusing each other.

Liu Tián Qǔ walked over to peep around the cliff make a big show of it since she knew she was being watched. She peeked around the cliff to see the men fighting one another. However, Liu Tián Qǔ immediately got concerned. Although they were all standing at the bottom of a cliff. There was a second drop. The second drop turned the area where the men were fighting into a cliff. Liu Tián Qǔ grew worried for the men. They were fighting awfully close to the edge of the cliff.

"Maybe I should say something. They are too close to the cliff. I know the maybe criminals but still...." Liu Tián Qǔ muttered to herself.

Just as Liu Tián Qǔ walked around the cliff and made up her mind to say something. One of the men swung and punched the man who was standing in front of him. The man who threw a punch, in turn, quickly tried to dodge a kicked from the third man that was beside him.

The man that got punch was standing close to the edge of the cliff. He got punched with such force he flew backward. Screaming in fear, he grabbed the guy that punched him as he flew backward.

Liu Tián Qǔ ran towards the men screaming for them to be careful.

The man that had punched the first man had quickly focused his attention on blocking a kick from the third man by grabbing the leg of the third man. He was so focused on blocking the kick that he failed to avoid being grabbed by the man he punched.

As the man that was punch flew over the cliff. He had grabbed the man that punched him, dragging him over the cliff with him. That man had already grabbed hold onto the leg of the third guy who tried to kick him. In desperation and fear, he held on tight to the leg of the third guy dragging him along with them over the cliff. The third man screamed in horror and terror as he struggled to kick free of the guy holding on to his leg. He scrabbled around, trying to grab hold of anything.

Liu Tián Qǔ was running towards them, screaming in horror and helplessness. She forgot about putting on a show for whoever may be watching. Nor did she notice on the cliff above them a Shadow Guard of Wang Royal Manor stood watching the whole show.

Caught in the moment, Liu Tián Qǔ ran towards unfortunate men. She tried to grab on to the third guy that was struggling to kick free of the guy holding on to his leg dragging him over the cliff. However, she tripped and fell over a sack.

Liu Tián Qǔ quickly scrambled back to her feet. However it was already too late. Liu Tián Qǔ got to her feet just in time to lock eyes with the last guy as he went over the cliff. There was horror, helplessness, fear, and dozens of other emotions in his eyes. That final scream as he went over propelled Liu Tián Qǔ towards the cliff edge even though she knew it was too late.

Liu Tián Qǔ ran over to the cliff edge and looked down in time to see the three of them disappear below in the distance. The distance to the bottom was so great that she couldn't see the bottom. They had vanished below her line of vision.

Liu Tián Qǔ's legs grew weak, and she collapsed to the ground. That was not when she felt fear. Real fear bloomed in her heart when she came back to her senses. When her thoughts caught up with her, she realized how foolish she behaved. She reincarnated into the body of a thirteen-year-old girl who mostly lived on vegetables all her life. Had she grabbed onto the third guy. In his desperation, he would have dragged her over with them.

'I was too careless this time.' She inwardly admonished herself. 'Aiya I almost died being nosy minding someone else business. I was too careless!"

In her past life, she was very strong. She built her strength through an intense regimen of bodybuilding, first by exclusive trainers hired to prepare her for the Olympic Games. Then, later on, she restructured her body following a workout regime that Nickolas created for her base off of a Special Forces training regimen. Liu Tián Qǔ sat there with her body shaking from the aftershock. She was doing her best to shake off the fear that bloomed in her heart.

Liu Tián Qǔ vowed to immediately start training to build her strength and to get herself some weapons. The body that she reincarnated into was too weak.

Liu Tián Qǔ decided to hurry and leave the mountain. If she ran into anyone with her weak body, fighting them off would be difficult.

Liu Tián Qǔ climbed to her feet. Her eye fell on the sack she tripped over earlier. Liu Tián Qǔ walked over to the sack leaning down. She opened the sack. At first glance, Liu Tián Qǔ almost thought she found a sack of enormous diamonds and Gold Certificates.

However, Liu Tián Qǔ knew that it couldn't be. Liu Tián Qǔ removed one of the ores from the sack for a closer look. She could see that it definitely wasn't a diamond. First of all, it was the size of an ore. The feel of it in her hand was like a jagged granite stone. It didn't have the luster or shine of a diamond although the outside looked a clear as a diamond. She looked closer to see the center of the ore look white as milk.

In the sack was also a large tied stack of silver certificates. However, since she knew she was being watched, she didn't want to be seen removing money from the sack. However, that money was definitely money she was already counting as hers. She just needed to find an opportune moment to remove it from the bag.
